Its correct. Both Giants and Chiefs played 5th place schedules of the era. The 5th placed teams from the previous year played 14 conference games and played the 2 5th placed teams from the AFC, for their total of 16 games
I know its had facelifts over the years. Arrowhead dosent look much different from 43 years ago. In present time it's pretty much Just added a huge scoreboard ,more people in the stands and changed to a grass field.
It's definitely 1979! In the 1980 season, the Giants had changed to their more famous 80s uniforms (without the white stripes either side of the red one on the helmet etc). 1979 was the last year that the Giants used the uniforms that they are using in this video, so definitely 1979.
The Giants and Chiefs both played last place schedules in 1979, as both teams finished last in their divisions in 1978. Chiefs hosted the Giants and played at the Buccaneers (the latter being that famous downpour game at Tampa Stadium in Week 16) while the Giants hosted the Colts (who finished last in the AFC East in 1978) and played in Kansas City in the video above. And back then, if you finished last in the AFC East/AFC West or NFC Central/NFC East, you play everybody in the AFC Central and NFC West respectively. This meant the Chiefs played everyone in the AFC Central and the Giants played everyone in the NFC West. Also, the Chiefs played the Colts twice and Giants played the Buccaneers twice.
The Giants 1980 interconference schedule was at San Diego (10/19), Denver (10/26), at Seattle (12/7), and Oakland (12/21). The Chiefs 1980 interconference schedule was Detroit (10/26), and at St. Louis (11/23).
Fantastic as always. Best quality games on youtube
Loved those old Giants helmets.
Haha, at 1:11, Stram accidentally calls Gowdy “Jack” (probably thinking of his long time radio partner Jack Buck).
Lol...man, there used to be just Mount Rushmore type announcer teams....what happened?
Fantastic!!! Keep these rare games coming!
I love these old Giants games, keep 'em coming!
Another classic game from the 70's! Excellent channel!
Hard to imagine Arrowhead being that empty but it had been for a few years. I have the 1978 Bucs @ Chiefs and it was nearly empty in that game, too.

8:16 Blanda hocking a premium laxative, Schaefer 👍👍
Awesome video quality
Do you have the 1979 Bucs/Chiefs monsoon game?
8:08 George Blanda for Schaefer beer. Classic.
45:16 Curt Gowdy loves Arrowhead
I like how Stramm called Curt, Jack.
Gowdy went form the Number 1 announcer at NBC to doing second, third or fourth games on CBS.

This is listed wrong. Has to be 1980. AFC West played NFC East 1980.
I think it's right. Jan Stenerud is kicking for the Chiefs. 1979 was his last year here. Nick Lowery took over in 1980.

1979 is correct year Jets beat Raiders in 1979 as shown on score on tv.
Curt Gowdy was the best play by play ever.
