- Monsoon game. Tampa Bay trying to make it's first playoffs game. I've not seen any full version of this so I took some highlight and NFL films stuff to make this video. As far as I know the full video of this game doesn't exist. I've only seen listings for audio of this game not the actual tape for a full game. I will be posting the playoff game for the Bucs in a month.
41 seasons later, these two teams meet in the big show
According to @accuweather, thunderstorms are in the forecast for Super Bowl Sunday. The early prediction: 71 degrees with a 75% chance of rain 🤦🏻♂️☔️
Back when Tampa had those BEAUTIFUL Florida orange jerseys!
Bring them back!
I thought they were cool, don’t know why so many people hated them?
Thats the problem..Those uniforms were beautiful, not tough looking..Those were LOSER uniforms..The buccaneers only had two winning seasons,in those uniforms. It's no surprise, the year the buccaneers changed those uniforms in 1997, the buccaneers went 10-6, made the playoffs and began their greatest era
@@vicepresidentmikepence889 The only place I want to see those colors is either on a beach or a golf course. They wore those uniforms for 20 seasons and they won an even 100 games. That's a 5 win average for 20 damn years. You were just a tick off on the number of winning seasons though. They went 10-6 in '79, 9-7 in '81, and 5-4 in the strike shortened season in '82
Woke NFL says no.
Thank you for this upload. As a 10 y.o. in 1979, I was already 3 or 4 years into an NFL obsession that would last until the mid 80s, when I grew to 6' 4" and my teen self shifted interest to the NBA and a newcomer named Michael Jordan (I saw MJ play in Nov of '86 in Oakland, CA, and later got fired for missing a shift that I didn't realize I was scheduled for @ Big 5) entered the NBA (and changed the NBA forever).
-----I remember the NBA back in the late 70s and early 80s when it was videotaped but the networks only showed it at 11pm(!) Anyone remember that??? How weird a concept is that (nowadays)??????-----
I remember seeing multiple highlights of the Monsoon Game back then, but I never got to see as much as I'd like of the game. I find it hard to believe no one video taped it?!?!?? REALLY?!??!??
Again, THANK YOU for uploading this. I've wanted to see the entire game, but only see a snippet here or there when I search for it. You're a PRINCE for putting this together-thanks!!!
VCRs were still pretty expensive in the late 70s. Around a grand for a VCR around that time. Plus I'm not sure if they allowed this game to be televised in the northern Florida because it probably didn't get enough attendance due to the weather. Games with low attendance were blacked out in those areas usually.
I was there for the whole game! Will never forget when they finally scored, what a relief.
I was there too!
That’s pretty cool. I watched the whole game at 8 years old. I thought Tampa might go to the Super Bowl that year, but LA had other plans.
What an achievement after everything that team went through its first two years. I was a 12 year old kid listening to this game on the radio, hoping they wouldn't let this game slip away. Thanks for posting this. I wish the entire game was available.
Forty years ago in a monsoon...they finally won game 10 and rge NFC Central
So many highlights for a 3-0 game.
Let’s hope the Super Bowl won’t be played in these conditions!...LOL
I remember watching this game. I was pulling for Tampa that year. They almost went to the Super Bowl. LA Rams beat them in the NFC playoffs. I miss football ( NFL) when it was like this. I was 8 .
That was a quagmire typed monsoon game, R.I.P. John Facenda!
Who is here after these two teams will meet in the Super Bowl in a battle between the greatest QB of all time and the current best QB in the league
Both going to the Super Bowl in two weeks
Hurricane type flooding in that stadium. I remember.
I don’t know why the Bucs don’t wear the throwback jerseys anymore? Great team now 40 seasons ago!
They haven't been allowed to since the NFL instituted the "One Helmet" Rule. That was put in place when the league started to get heat for the treatment (or lack thereof) player safety and concussions. It was a stupid rule from the jump. I could talk for hours on how the NFL really botched that whole thing. So basically if a team wants to wear a throwback uniform and they used to have a different color shell they couldn't switch it out. It basically killed throwbacks for the Bucs, Falcons, Bills, Broncos, Chargers, Rams, Patriots, and Titans.
There have been rumors that have popped up after the Owners Meeting back in March. Nothing solid yet though. The NFL's BS reasonings don't make a lick of sense when every helmet worn is essentially custom built to fit the individual with no break in time needed.
@@BrandonCreeger as usual the NFL is clueless. Make 2 helmets per player up to safety standards...is it that hard?
@@astrosjer822 That rule has now been lifted and the Bucs have already worn BUCCO BRUCE once this year!
One of the worst conditions ever for an nfl game. Someone please post this full game.
As far as I've researched maybe only audio exists of the full game.
@@classicsports5057 the local network taped over the game. it was common practice in that era to save on production costs. Unfortunately, the full game does not exist
@@kingfish4242 And because of the weather the game wasn't a sell out so in the Tampa area it wasn't shown so people with VHS's in Florida couldn't record the game. Kansas City area fans probably wouldn't keep any recordings of this game if they had them. So it likely will never show up as a full game.
Gotta love Florida weather
Ah, what a time. Here i was a 2nd grade kid. I still remember my mom letting me stay up to watch the end of this season, I've never liked the Rams since! .... back when orange had pride. Bring back the orange!
Me too. I was 8 playing my first year of JR PRO . “ little league “ football. Loved Tampa Bay.
We got a little wet. I suffered through the Rams game too! A game we should have won!!
I was at both games. And the eagles game
Odd no full version exists considering it was something of a historic moment. Bucs, 0-14 not that long ago, expansion team...4 years later they are in the NFC Title Game. You'd figure a copy exists somewhere. I can understand 60's games...but this was 1979
Chronologically speaking, this might be one of the last NFL games that we don’t have a nearly fully archived broadcast of.
Wow
Did not know this
I was competing in the PunPass and Kick that day. Oh my
RIP Facenda--The John Houseman of Highlights
1:33. Love the Iran and Ayotollah reference made by Steve Sabol. 😂
That was actually the voice of Harry Kalas.
LOL, Doug Williams was the only person capable of "overthrowing the Ayatollah"!
Go BUCCS!!!!
Super Bowl LV
6:19 song?
I believe that is, or was, the Buccaneers fight song. ruclips.net/video/SeHHG8LCUNs/видео.html
Bad joke Harry Kalas said about Doug Williams
Wait no one wore face masks on the sidelines back then?
If Ricky Bell would not have had that Ailment that attacked his Heart the Bucs would have been good for years to come. Plus their owner was a moron. I bet the Full Video exists the NFL is just hiding it from view. just like the Heidi game and the Raiders win against the Patriots in the 76 Divisional playoff. You can find things that go Way back to the beginning of time practically stuff from the 1910s and 20s. Especially Boxing, Movies, TV shows, Pilot episodes of TV shows, though depending on the quality of the tape, I know that some Dr. Who episodes the Video was lost but they still had the Audio so they made one of them into an animated version.
The game was blacked out in Florida because of low attendence so if it exists it would have to be a fan in the Kansas City viewing area who would have likely later recorded over it. So the chances of a recording of this game existing are low. There are snippets of the Heidi game out there but since there was no way for people to record it at home only film exists of that game.
Most of the pre mid 70s media that exists are film roles that easily degrade or kinescope which was someone using a camera pointed at a TV. Home video was not around till the mid to late 70s and you had to be rich to have those. Thousands of dollars for a VHS in 1977-79. Beta was around the same price but only had 1 hour long tapes.
