Definitely a Stillson Ian 👍. Those brushes look brilliant. Didn’t realise you could get paint that does not need primer. Thumbs up to that. 👍. No vices 😂. Brilliant. Done a good job there mate. I will need to be doing mine.
Hi Ian had same trouble on our CV40 used Krust and then hamerite been ok now for 18 months .Keep up the great videos they remind us of our first months of CV40 life. Ian
Some people would just replace it for probably half the price of the tin of rust paint but that’s the great thing with campervans and motorhomes, it makes you want to do little jobs like this yourself and to make it better than the original if you can - know where you are coming from and this now looks neat 👍😁 Although this would have been the perfect excuse to buy that Dremel… imagine how quick the rust would have come off 😉
@@TravellingfromScratch ha ha 😂 you are doing a much better job than most on your channel, some proper jobs you have done there don't worry we are impressed 🙂👍
Very helpful Ian - I’ve not got round to the water drain valves yet but this was really helpful on how to remove and making sure to refurbish the brackets, thank you - David 👍
Thanks Marion. Someone else has mentioned the pipes may need doing. I will have a look at them when this bloody wind dies down a bit. Got a draft right up my jumper. 🤣🤣
We were at the Peterborough campervan and motorhome sale today and had a good look at a new CV20. It felt really light and airy and we were wondering if we had been a bit daft choosing the van we have on order …… and then you put out this video🤣🤣🤣🤣. Whatever we decide we will enjoy watching your hilarious antics for as long as you keep sharing them. Good job with the tap things but it’s seems like you really are a bit of a perfectionist Ian 🙂
Hi Ruth. Many thanks for the comment and taking the time to watch me waffle on. I'm sure you won't be disappointed when your van arrives. Thanks for the lovely comments. I can always rely on you to keep this channel going. There's no way I am a perfectionist. I am just rubbish at everything I attempt to do. It's embarrassing really. I feel like a failure as a man unless I am hammering something. 👍
Hi Ian forgot to mention the bracket for the heater exhaust went the same way so keep an eye on that to and also check your roof as I found metal furrings left after they cut for the roof vents and if not cleaned off will go rusty as mine where just starting to . I cleaned them off and keeping an eye on it . Hope this helps. Ian
That really does help mate so thank you. I am learning all the time. I will check the roof from the landing window and check the heater exhaust too. Always good to get a heads up from someone who has already dealt with these problems. 👍
Same rust on my 115. Also keep an eye on the metal straps holding the fresh and waste tanks on - the paint on my straps also came off and they went rusty - had to rub down and paint with hamerite. Also you didn’t mention your cheap seat covers in this video!
Sorry Richard. I'll give the seat covers a mention next time. Was concentrating on the rust today. Thanks for the comment though. I love reading through the comments when people make an effort to leave one. It's very much appreciated. 👍
Thanks Tony. Have to keep on top of these things. Just wish I could make a good job of something. If I keep at it long enough I have to improve. That's the theory. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment mate. I appreciate it. Job jobbed! 👍
I was checking under my Elddis CV40 today noticed the brackets mounting the water tank to the underside are also showing signs of paint flaking but more important the stainless exhaust pipe from the heater unit was touching the plastic fresh water tank and has melted the tank don’t think there’s a hole but will definitely need to be checked out at the dealers. I managed to bend the brackets so now the pipe is clear and no longer touching . Check it out maybe you can inform your viewers. Those brackets looking fine if they rust again maybe able to replace with stainless steel.
Thanks Rhys, you've got me thinking about my heater pipe now. I will have to check that out and make sure mine is not a problem. Definitely worth sharing that info though. I will mention it in my next video. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and thanks for the heads up. 👍
You know a good persian when you see one. It's my outdoor lying on rug. What do you mean old man slippers. They are steel toe cap safety slippers. Very comfy for DIY projects. You should get some for Mark. 👍
Hi Ian, not applicable to this vid, but I can't find the one I want. Can you advise me where you got the handle for your sliding door. I think wifey would benefit from one. Thanks dave
Hi Ian, many thanks for the reply, however when I did a search it returned sh1te. Sorry to ask but have you got a link to the item you have fitted. Thanxdave
You can get two pairs of prescription reading glasses for £15 online. I know poundland were doing the cheap reading glasses for a £1 and I saw some cheap ones in Aldi last week. (don't know the price of the ones in Aldi)
Hi Sandy. I honestly think it’s a personal thing and depends on your needs. I don’t think it’s great as a 3 berth. The third bed is very small and not very comfortable. Also if you put the third bed up you’ve got nowhere to sit. I like it despite a few teething troubles that you’ll get with any manufacturer. I think it’s very good for the money compared to others of the same design. If it suits your needs then it’s a great van and I love mine. If you have any questions about specific parts of the van I’m happy to give you my honest opinion. 👍🏻
Hi Ian, video entertaining as usual. Just a question about the door stop.I saw it on ebay as you said.but says it only fits doors on english side.do you think it would flip over to go on other side, which is what I have, cannot see on the pictures, regards David. Thanks in advance
It is shaped a certain way so I'm not sure it would fit on the other side. You should ask the seller. He lives local to me so I went to pick it up. He has a cv40 the same as mine. He will know straight away. I don't want to guess but I don't think it will fit if your door is on the other side. Shame as it is really useful. 👍
@@marshy2163 his email address is: jeffnutter22@gmail.com I have seen another post saying that it’s specifically for the uk van but there’s no harm in asking. 👍🏻
Hi Ian, just watched your video, did you put the PTFE tape on the correct way, I think you need to go with the thread, apparently depending which way you put the tape on, when screwing the tap back on, if you did not put the PTFE tape on the correct way it will not make a proper seal. Still a good video and you are fun to watch, Steve
Hi Steve. I had no idea there was a right and a wrong way to put that tape on. There's a 50/50 chance I have put it on the right way round. I'll find out if it leaks. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. 👍
Yeah I agree. Could definitely have done with another coat and maybe a bit more sanding. I will film from further away so it looks good and I don't look like a bafoon and a failure as a man. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I appreciate it. 👍
Yup, Stilsons. Pozy or Philips, basicly pozy is designed to not slip off screws. Both will do the job; Polytetrafluoroethylene (ptfe) for all ya plumbing jobs 😶🌫 FYI, always put the tape on in the direction of thread? stops it comming off when ya screw the fixing on Hammerite, covers a multitude of sins. Slap it on nice and fik
Yeah that's what I thought for all my plumbing needs! Stilsons. Excellent. There was a 50/50 chance of me looking foolish there for a minute. Thanks for clearing that up mate. 👍
Ha ha. You're right mate. Eric Morecambe. He he. I'm happy with that. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and thanks for watching as usual. 👍

Great job and hilarious 😂

Brilliant on the list to do! 👌

Hi Ian, another informative video - keep them coming. Chris.
