Great top tip. Thanks for posting. I’ve a CV60 and just done the overflow mod after watching this. I used a short length of garden hose which fits perfectly on the overflow pipe. There was enough space to fit it without kinking it to bend it down. I’ve cable tied the loose end to the chassis. Thanks again.👍
Like you I'm no DIY expert but I've just done the same fix on our CV20, took about 30 seconds to do the job once under the van. It beggars belief that Elddis didn't think to do this when building the vans.
Hi Ian, another fun and informative video. I should have said more on the ramps - use one on the front and one on the rear wheel on the same side to lift one side for better access. I used a stem elbow same JG speedfit and then I cut a piece of blue water hose making it even cheaper. I agree with you, this should be factory fit for a very little cost. Anyway keep entertaining everyone. 👍
Another useful video, well done again Ian for getting stuck in! I did my waste overflow by pressing a piece of clear pipe over that outlet. Unfortunately that didn’t cure my leak! TVMH have it back again in April to look at a crack they found when replacing the water level sensor. It’s a long job as apparently the tank has to be removed…..again….. IMO Hymer and or Elddis should be re - calling the CV for this modification. First time I filled our water tank I couldn’t understand why it took so long! The water tank and all surrounding were soaked. In a previous video you showed how to tape up the water tank winter cover, pretty sure this leaking was the culprit. We have had a few vans now and love our CV 60. It’s worth mentioning that TVMH are a good dealer and have been helpful with our ‘watergate’ problems.
@@mockeyson very true. TVMH have tried to resolve all the issues I have had. It’s Elddis that don’t appear to care about customer satisfaction. Love my cv40 and it’s a shame that these little things linger on without a resolution. I’m sure the Hymer group can afford to fix these little things for the sake of its long suffering customers.
Great video as usual Ian, have had this issue with the insulation dripping on my CV20 which had me stumped. Will now get it sorted. If you need extra height to work try Milenco Quattro ramps with safety chocks behind the back wheels, handbrake on and leave in gear. Thanks again.
Great video and another really useful tip. We’re collecting our new van next Friday and although it’s not an Elddis I will still be checking that overflow pipe! Great seat covers for £4.50. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Ian. Very useful video that will help many Elddis vanners or prospective buyers. Very neat job, professionally executed, with a few "smiley" moments in there as usual - just what we enjoy. Hope it might "embarrass" Elddis to install this mod during build - makes entire sense. Thanks again. George and Trish - CaravanningMacs
16.40 bought the pushfit elbow and pipe ready to follow your lead. Unfortunately the 15mm stub, protruding from the tank is too close to the frame of the vehicle so the elbow won’t fit. Very frustrating. I use a flow meter to make sure I don’t overfill so need to keep using this. On the lookout for some flexi 15mm I/dia plastic tube 🫤
Hi Ian enjoyed the video you always make me grin as you are down to earth.I also Love the accent. on the note of your ramps I hope you put the van in reverse gear and chocked the rear wheels for safety's sake. You ought to invest in some descent metal ramps or even a pair of axle stands rated at between 2 and 3 tons for each axle stands if you are going to be doing a lot of DIY on your van.i am also concidering putting up a curtain in my van but useing some curtain track.keep the videos coming .bye for now.
Thanks Graham. I didn’t chock the wheels but I’ll remember for next time. My next video is a more permanent solution to the curtain. That was the prototype. The next incarnation is much better. 👍🏻
Excellent video Ian - thanks for sharing. Makes you wonder though why it wasn’t done like that out of the factory in the first place! Keep up the good work - love seeing your vids
Thanks for the kind words Andy. Should have been done at the factory. Bizarre that there’s a whole without a pipe on it. If I can fix it for a fiver it would cost Elddis pennies. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. Pleased you enjoyed it. 👍🏻
Ian's vids are generally very good , BUT in the case of the added overflow, the CV water tanks have 10mm holes on their top surface- 2 on freshwater, unsure on grey tank.SO even with overflow pipe in place, u less you trickle water into the tank and watch the overflow, water is STILL going to go onto the tank/ winter jacket(s). The ONLY 100% cure is to remove water tank(s) and bond on the insulation jacket with contact adhesive, in mycase I de-sewed the insulation, , cut it to the tank faces, bonded it to the tank( impact adhesive) and added a 2nd layer of 2mm foil insulation( supplied tank cover is 4mm). A y thicker than 2mm ( + the 4mm) a d the tank carrier bracket will not allow the tank to fit. This is a lot of work BUT care on filling a d familiarity with the " noise" tempo change as tank fills can make leaving as is 90/95% acceptable( for not flooding tank insulation jacket)
Not sure the pipe fit would work on our van but your seat covers are brilliant! Perfect for muddy dogs or using the van in the winter, plus they make your cab look like a spaceship with the blackout curtain too, looks great 😁👍 P.S. you need a fancy Dremel or similar so you don't have to use a hacksaw, treat yourself you deserve it and sure it would be useful for your future mods 😂
You’re joking. I wouldn’t trust myself with one of those things. I would lose a finger just getting it out of the box. Seat covers made it all worth while. £4.50. Bargain. Thanks for watching and commenting. Love reading all the comments. 👍🏻
Useful video Ian, on my to do list - I think the hardest bit will be getting under the van 😂 - must stay off the pies 🥧 for the next week so i can fit under the van :) Levelling ramps good idea to get some extra clearance. Cheers, David 👍
Hi David. Thanks for leaving a comment. I have been advised and would like to pass the advice on. If you are going to work under the van make sure you’re safe. Get some axel stands that will take the weight of your van. Also another good tip… stay off the pies. 👍🏻
Watched the video right until the end and saw the excellent seat covers :-) Nice easy mod, that again really should of been done at the factory for the extra few minutes and cost involved. Another mod my wife wants me to do when we get the van :-) Think i will spend more time modding it than driving the bloody thing :-)
Liked your video,, Just wondering if you should put some gaffer tape over the pipe like a saddle on to insulation, to stop pipe moving with the wind rushing underneath when driving
Hi Ian, do you or any of your ‘readers’ happen to know if there is a filter or one way valve preventing anything entering the tank via the overflow, I presume there is but take it your elbow joint never came into contact with anything . Cheers
Did you tape or cable tie the pipe so that it doesn't move or fall off. Did you consider lagging the pipe so that any water in it doesn't freeze? I know it should just drop out but then that's how icicles are formed🥶
I didn’t do any of that Paul. Apart from the cable tie to keep the pipe straight. I haven’t lagged the pipe at all but I am gonna wrap it in some aluminium tape. I was hoping that would do the trick. It’s only the overflow so there won’t be any water sitting in the pipe. Gravity will take care of that. Should all be ok. Thanks for the feedback. 👍🏻

Absolutely loving these videos mate! They make me howl with laughter. Can’t wait for our CV40 to arrive!

Baffles me why these little things are not done during production. All sorted now though. 👍🏻
Hey Ian .. another good job done ! Please get some axle stands though mate , I think they on special atm from Halfords only £17 ... be safe.
Thanks mate. I will buy some axel stands if I ever do another job under the van. You’re 100% right to point that out. 👍🏻
