If you're barbecuing or grilling, you can grill some peaches to go with some vanilla ice cream for dessert. It's a great option when it's too hot to cook indoors.
The name “shortcake” is derived from an old English cooking definition of short which referred to something made crisp with the addition of fat. Shortcake is a crisp, crumbly cake made from butter which is how it got its name.
In the summer, when I have ice cream, it’s usually soft chocolate in a cup with chocolate dip. The chocolate dip is poured over the ice cream in liquid form, and then it hardens. It’s very good. If I have hard ice cream, I like Chocolate Chip Mint or Strawberry. 🍦🍦🍦
There are different types of vanilla ice cream. The three most common are regular vanilla ice cream, vanilla bean and French vanilla. Vanilla Ice Cream uses the extract (liquid) from the vanilla plant to give its flavor Vanilla Bean Ice Cream adds actually bits of the vanilla bean to enhance the flavor French Vanilla Ice Cream uses an old style French process which involved using an egg-custard base, which is not in the other types of vanilla ice cream.
Just one thing about Key Lime's used in making the Key Lime pie. The Key Limes used in making of the pie is only grown in a small part of the Caribbean, Bahamas, the Florida Key's and the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula, their smaller in size and have a yellowish green hue in color than normal limes. Their taste profile is much more tart, zesty and tangy in flavor over that of other Limes types, plus Key Limes have their own unique aroma that differs from other limes. That one of the major reasons that Key Lime Pie is made with condensed milk because the Key Limes can easily handle the sugary flavor that comes with the condensed milk and condensed milk is really good for whipping into a thicken mixture for pie making.
Okay... now you've made me break my diet, I'm binging on old fashioned apple pie with vanilla ice cream and Carmel drizzle. I'll restart my diet tomorrow.

French vanilla ice cream has eggs in the mix whereas (regular) vanilla ice cream does not. Strawberry shortcake varies in what the "shortcake" is like. In some variations, it is a sponge cake. In others, angel food cake. In others, it's similar to a (Southern) biscuit. In others, it's similar to a British scone. All have strawberries mixed with sugar and sometimes a liquor like Grand Marnier. Some top the dessert with whipped cream, others with ice cream, and others with nothing else.
Blue berry pie or. Michigan summer standby:Vernors float.thats vanilla ice cream in a big mug with Vernors ginger ale poured over.use a spoon or straw, its the best thing to beat the heat
July is blueberry season in eastern VA. Last week, I found the simplest and easiest recipe for blueberry cobbler: - fill a baking dish 1" deep with freshly-picked blueberries - mix 1/4 lb of melted butter into a white or yellow cake mix (none of the other ingredients in the mix instructions.) - spread the crumbly cake mix over the blueberries. - bake at 350 until the cake is golden brown and the berries are bubbling. - serve with your favorite vanilla ice cream.
In a restaurant, in a city I used to live in customers could get house-made spumoni ice cream. It was delicious, and I suspect it was made with real rum (just a bit - not a lot). IMHO, ice cream is the greatest food invention in human history. I don't go for any kind of pie in the summertime, as they all involve cooking and excess heat, which I avoid in summer. My late mother LOVED blueberries, so I would get a batch for her when in season, at a roadside kiosk, from folks who would pick wild berries and sell them (Canada). The wild berries were expensive, but miles better then cultivated berries. Mom almost always made pie with them, but sometimes just served them over ice cream. Good luck in your quest Marie.
Dessert: Boston Cream Pie ( chilled) -- love anything w/ custard in it. Ice Cream: Chunky Monkey (Ben & Jerry's) -- banana flavored w/ chunks of dark chocolate & walnut
J’aime aussi la pastéque et les fraises. Especially on a hot day. 🍉🍉🍉 🍓🍓🍓 I had some raspberry cake recently with low-fat cream; that was really delicious! 👍
For summer first you have to define what kind of melon. I eat cold cantaloupe with pepper and fresh lime juice. Also with watermelon I usually use fresh limes to make it mouth watering. Jello with shredded carrots and apple and raisins. Depends on flavor of Jello you use.
SORBET contains no dairy and is made with fruit and sugar. Not to be confused with… SHERBET is also fruit-based but also contains milk, which makes it creamier than sorbet. ICE CREAM must contain at least 10% milkfat, according to the USDA. This sweet and creamy treat must be churned while it’s freezing, giving it that familiar texture. GELATO may translate to “ice cream” in Italian, but the two are distinct desserts! Gelato contains less milkfat, is served at a warmer temperature, and has a texture that is denser and softer than ice cream - a result of churning less air into the mix while it’s freezing. FROZEN CUSTARD is denser and softer than ice cream. The addition of egg yolk to this dessert’s base makes it especially creamy. Not to be confused with… FROZEN YOGURT gets its creaminess by replacing the milk or cream used to make ice cream with yogurt.
Dulce de leche is just made when you take a can of condensed milk and boil in a pot for like 30 minutes. It solidify and become brown and change taste. It is a humble dessert but is very taste. Dulce de leche is Spanish for sweet of milk.
Another fun desert that is tres easy is a Rootbeer Float or a Brown Cow. First you chill a glass mug in the freezer until it gets frosty-- this is really important. Fill it up about half to 2/3 with cold Root Beer, then add one scoop of ice cream and watch it foam all over. You'll drink some of it, but to get it all you'll need a long handled spoon (I bought some mostly for this purpose).

All these deserts are making my mouth water! My favorite use to be whatever was in front of me, now it's whatever is made with love and shared. Don't care too much for store bought deserts, most seem to be primarily sugar, with more sugar added for good measure.
Absolutely love a Peach vanilla cheesecake trifle. But, I do it a little different I mix my peaches into the vanilla pudding so the mixer breaks it up into smaller chunks and I use both white and brown sugar with a little caramel extract. Nice and cold really great for those hot days! Which here in Alabama we have plenty of them, I think it has been feeling like it’s around 39-42°C the past few days gotta love it.
One of the most refreshing is Bingsu. From Korea. Very finely shaved milk ice (like snow) with toppings. I like condensed milk, fresh berries, a fruit sauce like strawberry, and maybe some mochi.
Vanilla bean vanilla ice cream with any cake, pie or torte. When making vanilla bean vanilla ice cream they use the actual vanilla beans with the bean contents scraped out of the bean pods, and this gives the ice cream a richer, stronger vanilla flavor. Regular vanilla ice cream uses a liquid vanilla extract rather than actual beans which results in a more uniform color. To my taste the vanilla bean-made recipe tastes far superior. Strawberry short cake with a daub of vanilla bean ice cream... Heaven!
It is so amazing to see your expressions and reactions when you discover a new and amazing desert. LOL Thank you for this video. ))) Your excitement over that large shortcake was priceless. LOL, I too never understood why it is called shortcake, but when you finish it you will swear there was nothing short about it. LOL Banana pudding is great at any time. Even for a midnight snack. LOL, The difference between Vinela ice cream and French vanilla ice cream is the price. LOL Home-made vanilla ice cream is the best.
Your strawberry pie looks amazing. Key Lime Pie, blueberry pie, rhubarb pie, and Peach Cobbler are to die for. I didn't see your post for some reason, but my favorite desert for summer is one I make. I call it Blueberry Fool Pie. You start with a graham cracker crust, You boil milk then add marshmallows. let it cool a bit then mix in blueberries and/or other fruit. Then fold in a big bowl of whipped cream. Pour into the graham-cracker crust, then just chill it. It is a non-cooked desert that really keeps the flavor of the blueberries. And so quick to make, and soooo good! Lately I've added cut up peaches with the blueberries. You really can use any fresh fruit, but blueberries are always in it for me. I'll send a photo and the recipe when I next make it.
My family makes a cream cheese pie that's a lot softer than cheesecake that we top with cherries or blueberries that is served chilled so it works well in summer. It's not a family recipe or anything, but I've never seen the same thing made by anyone else either, oddly enough. A melon ball salad of watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew mixed together is very refreshing with a nice flavor mix. Another favorite in my family is "gooey butter" which most people seem to not have heard of, but it googles up nicely, so.. I dunno. It's always a hit when we share it outside the family regardless. All that said, my favorites are either a strawberry pie or a carrot cake, with a lean toward the carrot cake.
There's an ice cream place in New Orleans called Creole Creamery that has classic, local, and weird flavors, and I love to get their sampler to try different ones out. Lavender honey and cucumber sorbet surprised me. They don't sound like they will be good. There was this weird lime one, but forgot what it was. I think it was cilantro lime. Their pistachio and their creole cream cheese are pretty high up for me. Nectar sodas are always good.
My favorite *traditional* ice-cream flavor: mint chocolate-chip (mint ice-cream, with pieces of chocolate in it! Mmm ... want some now), especially with Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur poured over it! *So-o-o good!* Favorite 'different' ice-cream flavor: banana-split flavored ice-cream (banana and chocolate together), with marshmallow-fluff on top ... *very* rich, *very* good! My favorite flavor of cheesecake: maple (with maple-syrup drizzled over it ... o-o-o-h, almost sinfully delicious!) Shortcake is almost a staple (standard, & common) of desserts for Americans, especially when it's put together with strawberries. But since it's slightly sweet and doesn't have a strong flavor, itself ... you can put *almost* anything with it, *especially* fruits! Personally, I like it with various flavors of pudding on it! I agree with you; I've never really liked or gotten used to rhubarb.
I think I could live on Key Lime Pie (if I could let go of the chocolate long enough). Eat up Marie! And speaking of dessert--Home Free just dropped their cover of the Patsy Cline song, Crazy-your Dad wille love it and Austin has the lead. my fave ice cream flavor is Southern Blackberry Cobbler.
The best ice cream I have ever had. Is Huckleberry hazelnut cheese cake ice cream from Umpqua dairy is oregon. It's made specially for Seven Feathers Casino in canyonville oregon in the states
My favorite flavor of ice cream is still spumoni, but it’s hard to find - It’s pistachio, chocolate, and cherry stripes of ice cream side by side. After that I love Lemon Sorbet or Pralines and cream. I once had Pumpkin ice ream. It was very good (like the pie)
Heath bar ice cream, but tell your brother to add a dash of salt to the piece of watermelon. This brings out the flavor, this is a southern United States thing as far as I know. Strawberry (shortcake) the shortcake is a type of cake. A non traditional is with a biscuit which should be on the breakfast table with butter on it. Look up parksdale farm strawberry shortcake, it's a world famous place in Plant City, Florida. People come from around the world to have this seasonal delicacy. Love the channel from central Florida
Shortcake and pound cake are different, but many “strawberry shortcakes” use pound cake instead of shortcake. Shortcake is like an airy shortbread. Pound cake is quite dense, whereas shortcake quite a bit lighter and almost crumbly. I believe pound cake has quite a bit more butter (pound of sugar, pound of butter, pound of flour I believe).
Homemade Southern style ice cream. (any flavor) But if one doesn't have the time to make it a bucket of Blue Bell Texas Ice Cream (Any flavor) is almost as good.
Whipped as in using a whip. Remember the Amish up in Lancaster, PA ? Shoofly pie, wet bottom, molasses at the bottom. There was a movie with Jeff Bridges where he tries to commit suicide by eating a strawberry which gives him a near fatal reaction. Don't forget French Burnt Peanuts.
I don't know if this is just a Michigan thing but my favorite ice cream is Moose Tracks. If you aren't familiar with it, it may sound strange but it is really good!
Marieeee (FrenchFryyy)!I!I! I normally don't like sweet things, although you are the perfect exception! Even I sometimes have a craving for some of those things you showed! As always, California sends love!
Favorite ice cream is 'Rum Raisin' home made. So good. 😁 It is so fun to make unusual ice creams when you can make them yourself. Yes, there are some people that can be terribly allergic to strawberries. Fortunately not too many. French Vanilla Ice cream has a different custard & uses a 'French pot' method to churn. Many people call it French Vanilla that really don't follow the process. I can tell the difference but truthfully I don't prefer French over regular vanilla. Have your parents try some Rhubarb in their next strawberry pie. The two were meant for each other in desserts. It goes well with peaches as well. 8:45 What is called cantaloupe in the US would be call musk melon in Europe. True cantaloupe in Europe is completely different. Musk melon is excellent. Makes an excellent 'cantaloupe/cracked pepper' ice cream. I know . . . Sounds awful. Sometimes the most odd things turn out wonderful. Good video Marie.
Salut Frenchie, I noticed that your anglaise is pretty good. It's definitely better than my French. Have you ever thought about uploading a video about how you learned to speak in English? Chocolate cake. Put that in front of me and I'll be fine. Sachertorte is from Austria and it has a layer of apricot jam between the layers of cakes and then coated in chocolate icing. I most certainly will have a piece of this as well as a piece of chocolate cake.

It's made specially for Seven Feathers Casino in canyonville oregon in the states
have a fine weekend you and your family and friends🌹
My favorite flavor of ice cream is still spumoni, but it’s hard to find - It’s pistachio, chocolate, and cherry stripes of ice cream side by side. After that I love Lemon Sorbet or Pralines and cream. I once had Pumpkin ice ream. It was very good (like the pie)
I make strawberry -rubarb pies . Love them with French vanilla ice cream.
My favorite ice cream is either mint chocolate chip or double berry cheesecake ice cream.
Rum and Raisin ice crram
Most any French Patisserie dessert!!!!!!!! Ice cream is peanut butter and chocolate!!!
Gorgeous as usual, Marie. x
Queen of puddings. It has that name for a reason.
blackberry cobbler with cream
Warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Or hear in Texas Sopapilla with honey.
Favorite Ice Cream Flavors: Mexican Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Oreo Cookies and Cream, Superman aka Super Scoop, Blue Moon, Mackinac Island Fudge, Sander's Chocolate, Vernor's, Moose Tracks aka Deer Tracks, Brownie Batter Cookie Dough, and Neapolitan. ~Be Blessed
Gin and tonic is the pristine dessert
Shortcake and pound cake are different, but many “strawberry shortcakes” use pound cake instead of shortcake. Shortcake is like an airy shortbread. Pound cake is quite dense, whereas shortcake quite a bit lighter and almost crumbly. I believe pound cake has quite a bit more butter (pound of sugar, pound of butter, pound of flour I believe).
Homemade Southern style ice cream. (any flavor)
But if one doesn't have the time to make it a bucket of Blue Bell Texas Ice Cream (Any flavor) is almost as good.
Almost to 50K Marie!!!
Bananas Foster. A great Louisiana treat.
Yeti Rambler. Water bottle. Expensive but awesome.
S’mores! (May not quite qualify as dessert but is a fun summertime activity making them over the campfire) Fun video! :0) 🐺
Good video Marie.
you look amazing!
Salut Frenchie, I noticed that your anglaise is pretty good. It's definitely better than my French. Have you ever thought about uploading a video about how you learned to speak in English? If you haven't done so, I think you should. I think a video explaining how you learnt English would make for interesting content. Anyway, thanks for sharing this vid and a bientot !
Chocolate cake. Put that in front of me and I'll be fine. Sachertorte is from Austria and it
has a layer of apricot jam between the layers of cakes and then coated in chocolate icing.
I most certainly will have a piece of this as well as a piece of chocolate cake.
Hello Beautiful from Perth Australia again ! Lately You have always been making me hungry & i already put on 10 kg's in lockdowns but last 6 weeks consistently walking 5km followed by 45 min weights work out 💪6 days a week so can munch out here & there 🙃
I live in Florida and tomorrow it is supposed to be around 40 degrees Celsius tomorrow
Coffee ice cream is my favorite
Hard to choose creme brulee or a Tarte Normande . In a small local french restaurant when traveling in France I rarely turn down a Dame Blanche
Butter Pecan Ice Cream, Strawberry is a close second :). By the way, the desert pudding is pronounced with the first u sound like the u in put or the oo in foot - not trying to criticize, just trying to help :). This video was awesome, and I now want dessert!
