Thanks, That's quite helpful on the 3 privacy options, but I have a question. I don't have any of my own videos yet, my playlists are really a collection of liked music and podcasts from various places. So if i have viewed them and liked them, then they must be made publicly available by the youtube channel that I visited. So it would be a bit pointless making my playlist private then? What does it mean for the owner of the podcast if I list it as public or private?
Great question, Phil! The videos in the playlist may be publicly available. That’s up to the owner or administrator of the channel they come from. But the playlist - the selection and order of the videos in a group - that is still up to you whether to make it private, unlisted or public. If it’s not public, it can’t be found via search.
Do you mean the "Notify via email" checkbox, György? I see the other box - share only with people in this domain - has been removed since I recorded this video. Here's how RUclips says to share a private video now: support.google.com/youtube/answer/157177?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=9257428#zippy=%2Cprivate-videos To share a private video: Sign in to RUclips Studio. From the left menu, select Content. Click the video that you'd like to edit. Click the Visibility box and select Share privately. Enter the emails you'd like to share your video with, then select SAVE.
Private setting doesn't work for me. When I send the link to someone I have nominated in the private panel where I type in their email address.. when they go to the video they also have the option to share it with anyone they wish so how is that private. I thought if the video is private that they could not share it with anyone else and if they sent the link to anyone else they would not be able to view the video but they are viewing it and they also have the option to share it too? Yout tube doesn;t help and every tutorial says to do it as explained in this tutorial but for me it doesn't work. my private youtube videos are therefor not private at atll.
i really like your videos.also your regular viewers.recently i’m facing some problems on yt.i had very good amount of reach and views even in average quility videos.but recently i did some videos private to public to save time.after that i don’t get that much views even after i’ve upgraded my video quality.what to do now?pls help
First, well done on the videos you’ve made. I’d focus on what you have done that was working well. I’m not so worried about the video quality. More important is what you’re helping people with, and why do they care.
I have a lot of videos I have to send to my council, how can I do that without anyone else seeing these 30 videos? Can i send a channel link to them without making it public?
You could make the videos all unlisted and then create a playlist. Make the playlist unlisted. You can then send a link to that playlist (one link) and anyone who has access to that playlist should be able to see the videos in it. Great question! Thanks for asking it!
If you mean for the 4000 hours of watch time in the last 12 months, the answer is no. It has to be watch time on public videos. support.google.com/youtube/answer/72851?hl=en
Yes. I understand that unlisted videos can be monetised, but as they won’t appear in search, you’d need to have some other way for people to find them, such as by you sharing the link over an email list or in a membership community. That applies to RUclips ad revenue, of course, if it’s a sponsored video or you have done other stream of income from it, you should still be able to get paid for those, if you are keeping your end of the agreement with the sponsor.
@@AnthonyEnglish Thanks. My idea was to put a link in the description for a future video idea and let viewers know if they wished to participate in ideas for an upcoming video. Just create a short question video and have them comment there. Having them unlisted they wouldn't mess up the regular videos thumbnails. I subscribe to a few channels that create a playlist of their unlisted videos for those that want more content that is a little off topic. Just trying to find a way to monetize the group question. Community tab works but no way to monetize. Thanks again.
It's a good idea, Glenn. The community tab is a good way to build more of a community, but the trick will be getting people to click to watch the video. A playlist that includes unlisted videos is one option. Each time you are asking them to click, it's one more point of possible friction, but if the videos are interesting and relevant enough for them, you should be good.
Lots of people offer online educational videos on a website. They usually embed (or link) in their website from a RUclips channel. My question is how they can get rid of the ads. Do unlisted videos still show ads? I guess if people who get the URL of the unlisted video do not have a RUclips Premium account, they still will see the ads. I appreciate any suggestion. Thanks.
I haven’t been able to confirm that ads aren’t shown on unlisted videos, but when you use RUclips videos for education, viewers are also going to see suggested videos at the end of their viewing.
Yes, I believe they are. I did exactly that for one of my videos and its accumulated hours were deducted from my watch time. However, it may be that if you make the videos public again, their watch time will be included again when it next gets calculated. I’m not sure. As you know, to be eligible for the RUclips Partner Program so you can get paid for ads that are run on your RUclips channel, your public videos need to have been watched for a total of 4000 hours in the last 12 months.
@@AnthonyEnglish yep. i did some research and found that the watch time vanishes. I posted this on a FB page and told i was spreading false information. :(
@@AnthonyEnglish thanks so much sir, one more question if we unlisted our video so our channel broken or not or what happen in our channel sir, thanks for tell me
@@ratanakthong3212 if you unlist a video, your channel won’t be broken at all. Unlisted just means that video will only be found by people who have the link to it. On my own channel, I have plenty of unlisted videos as well as public videos, like the ones you see.
Unlisted or private videos will _not_ appear in search results. However, they _will_ appear in a public playlist. Unlisted videos in a public playlist are playable, while private videos are not. Private videos will not have a title. They will simply be labeled as private.
That was helpful and answered my question. Thanks so much.
You made sense of the three listing. Thank you.
