I’m more interested in how Nintendo showed off a new joycon charger, but the Switch in the background looks like the rumored prototype we saw earlier. It doesn’t have the notches where the controllers attach at the top.
Even if we dont get any announcement this month, Nintendo is garaunteed to give some sort of update in the first week of November. They have shareholders meetings the first week of every May and November. The one in May was where they announced the Switch 2's existence. If they havent said anything by then, they will have to say something to investors, even if it's just "yeah we're still on track to talk about it before March 2025 but just not right now"
You could say that directs always happen those months so it could be a coincidence, BUT they didn’t do one for September even though we’ve had a direct almost every September so that’s interesting..

I am seeing the Switch lite for $100 in used gaming stores. You could get that then sell it when the switch 2 comes out. As someone who owns a Switch oled though the screen is NICE. The colours really look intense on that screen. I really have no idea when the Switch 2 will be out though, it could be soon or another year. If you buy a switch oled used you won't lose much if you sell it when the switch 2 comes out.
I own 2 lites and OLED and an OG switch....I just bought a used OG to keep in my dock ....OLED is worth buying its screen is on point and the best handheld around still. Nintendo will support the switch for a year or two after launch indie devs will also still make sitch games for the original years to come if u can buy an OLED now and still get the switch 2 then do it .. don't hold out and miss a year of fun in the meantime ....I have 2 dozen games for my switch I haven't even started so don't stress the catalog of games is still unending for switch and that OLED is fire
Walmart Canada also did a similar tweet the 1st February 2024, but the February direct was a partner showcase on the 21st (while in 2023 there was an actual direct on the 8th, I think they expected the same but it didn't happen)
I don't think it's a good idea to present your new console just before the holidays as hystorically sales off the current console drop after such an announcement.
In the uk switch sales have already fallen behind Xbox for the last quarter and for the entire year up to this point. Right now it looks like they‘ll miss their estimates by a lot so it wouldn’t hurt their sales that much especially if they Plan to continue support for switch 1 and if its backwards compatible

There’s a reason why WalMart is asking about Directs. Well two. One being what you’re thinking (They know something). The other is simpler. By this time we usually know what first party stuff is coming until, depending on the year, roughly April, May, or June in the following year. We’re probably not getting updates on Pokemon Legends Z-A or Metroid Prime 4 until Switch 2 is revealed, as they are likely going to be cross-gen releases. So we currently know literally nothing definitive beyond Donkey Kong Country Returns HD in January. WalMart wants a Direct of some kind as much as we do. They also want a Switch 2 reveal as much as we do. In terms of the Direct that we’re currently missing. We could get something the length of the normal general Directs, but it’s two Directs combined like the Indie World+Partner Showcase. First 15-20 minutes, Switch 2 first look Direct Mini, followed by, at a minimum, a 20-25 Direct Mini. So we could end up expecting a minimum 35-40 minute presentation in full.
I definitely think we are going to a direct next week, my guess is probably Thursday morning or Friday morning, which is typically the days Nintendo usually does their directs.
It will be switch bundles…. I’m sure lol…. If there is one. I don’t foresee them revealing the switch 2 until after the holidays. They want to sell the current one… I could be wrong. But yea… that’s my thought.
Getting my first Switch and playing my 3ds after a few years away from gaming. I'm perfectly fine with the Oled. it's not even that old. I wish people remember that there's people that just everything in a hurricane and sadly it's going to happen again very very soon.
Although I do believe that all of this is possible, I’m not understanding why they would do a reveal right before the holiday season, while trying to get rid of the overstock of their current console’s. No one wants to hear about a new Switch before December Holidays, to then not be about to purchase it until March/April. I get your point, but I think Nintendo wants momentum The switch sales aren't keeping up to their predictions (if the UK is anything to go by). If the Series X/S are outselling the best selling current console in the current fiscal year, I think that's the signal to pivot. Sales are gonna hurt anyway, Nintendo can take the loss on that one. Plus what's to say they don't have plans for Switch going forward, price cut and push it as a budget console to swipe up any remaining customers they may have.
Someone on here has said it already but if there is no switch 2 official info this month then I definitely expect something for it in the next investors meeting on nov 5 or around it. Since the switch 2 was announced on the last big investors meeting on May 7th, I expect Nintendo will have to say something about it to investors on November at the very least. Since it’s already known, they can’t hide it lol. Even if Nintendo will be coy about it, I expect some info. Still, I am hoping this month, this week for something on switch 2.

It won’t hurt holiday sales though. Barely anyone is buying Switch currently. I’m sure Nintendo would rather have tons more people buying the Switch 2 than a few people buy another Switch 1.

The switch sales aren't keeping up to their predictions (if the UK is anything to go by).
If the Series X/S are outselling the best selling current console in the current fiscal year, I think that's the signal to pivot. Sales are gonna hurt anyway, Nintendo can take the loss on that one.
Plus what's to say they don't have plans for Switch going forward, price cut and push it as a budget console to swipe up any remaining customers they may have.
And it's gonna have the same nearby unusable store.

Someone on here has said it already but if there is no switch 2 official info this month then I definitely expect something for it in the next investors meeting on nov 5 or around it. Since the switch 2 was announced on the last big investors meeting on May 7th, I expect Nintendo will have to say something about it to investors on November at the very least. Since it’s already known, they can’t hide it lol. Even if Nintendo will be coy about it, I expect some info. Still, I am hoping this month, this week for something on switch 2.

If there were to be a Nintendo direct this week it would definitely not be on 10/10 since Tesla is doing an event on that day so I don’t think they would do a direct on the same day
I also want to point out that if they reveal the switch to sometime this year I think it's a bad idea because they already have bundles ready for Black Friday and winter Christmas season as it is and it's not a good marketing if you think about it if they want to hurry up and sell whatever last version of switch that they have left to sell which explains like the bundles even have like that free service for a couple months of online Nintendo Nintendo online service they're adding even more value to their bundles so people can buy those before they announced the switch to you probably in January probably on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day they are going to announce that surprise and then 3 months later or you know in March probably have the newer switch
