I saw this in the theater back in 1979 when I was about 13. It was on a Sunday matinee
and there were maybe 15-20 people in the audience.
Well, I remember when I was little I wanted to dance and sing like Madonna and Michael Jackson
Beyond the Paycheck Adventure.
🎶"Thers's got to be a movie afffterrrr so we can try to make big bucks" 🎶
🤣 😅😅
Guess Michael Caine had to add a swimming pool to his house in Jamaica.
Plus Telly was out of work after Kojak.
Slim Pickens? Best name EVER!!!!
What about Red buttons? One of the actors of the first movie? I think it's very cool to :D
Obviously you never heard the names,, bobcat goldtwaite, Marlon brando,or Caesar romero!!
Jim Pickens :D
I like that this is called "Beyond" the Posideon Adventure and yet it's the same exact story taking place on the same ship, LOL!
I know right I guess they didn't learn from the first ship that capsized. 🤣🚢
Awesome movie, Caine and Cojack, how could you go wrong, action, suspense, this film has it all.😊😊😊
And one of the early Mark Harmon films to boot...lord he really rose above the stinkers in his career. :)
Most of the great actors and actresses did.
0:21
Imagine they found Gene Hackman's body
you can literally see Rev. Scott and Linda's body in some shots of the engine room they reused from the first movie lol
They never showed Gene Hackman’s body in either movie.
This movie is a slice of pure 70s cheese,
but its fab
"We don't have a second book to adapt, but dammit, we really want that second film, so you writers come up with something." - Hollywood film execs.
Actually there was a second book made, but they did use anything from the book for the Beyond The Poseidon Adventure movie
They actually begged the author to write a second book. He pointed out it wouldn’t make sense since at the end of the first book has the ship sinking. The director then said how the author’s book can exist in the movie’s continuity in which the ship hadn’t sunk yet since the first one didn’t show that.
Michael Caine never says no to a paycheck
Could do without the plutonium subplot, way bonkers, the sinking ship is enough
one of the best underrated movies of all time
not to some-It didn't do well at the box office
Yep....right next to Speed 2 and Jaws 4.
Make a drinking game out of spotting chairs and other items that are mysteriously right-side-up or only slightly jostled throughout this capsized ship. Irwin Allen should've left the directing chores to better directors (Ronald Neame directed the original "Poseidon Adventure" while John Guillermin directed "The Towering Inferno"); he was too hung up on '60s television sensibilities to direct anything in the late '70s, which is why everything from the backlot-set town of Marysville to the inside of the nuclear reactor in "The Swarm" looks like something out of an episode of "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea," and everything in "Beyond" likewise looks so astonishingly phony and far too well-lit.
Fun fact: In Paul Gallico's original novel, the Poseidon sinks even as the survivors are rescued. (It's also a lot grittier and darker and nastier than Hollywood would probably have allowed at the time.) Nevertheless, Allen commissioned a sequel novel from Gallico--a sequel to the MOVIE rather than his own novel. And Allen still threw out* much of it! Gallico literally had the original survivors force the helicopter to return them to the ship, whereupon the adult men disembark each for their own reasons. Filming this would have required rehiring Ernest Borgnine, Jack Albertson and Red Buttons to go through more of this a full seven years after finishing shooting on the original, so Allen and screenwriter Nelson Gidding simply shunted all their material to Peter Boyle, Jack Warden and Mark Harmon. Likewise lost in adaptation: a circus-bound tiger running loose in the hold (!!) and an erupting volcano (!!!).
*Allen would absolutely devastate source novels; out of the all-star cast of characters in "The Swarm," only THREE come from the book (played by Richard Widmark, Henry Fonda and Richard Chamberlain), and "When Time Ran Out..." cites a historical novel about a real-life volcanic eruption in 1902 (but not the film "The Devil at 4 O'Clock," from which Allen straight-up plagiarized his film's climax).
Interesting, I thought Allen directed all the action scenes in the better disaster movies as well.
Thanks a lot for this detailed information.
"A violent Mediterranean storm" but wasn't it a seismic wave?
HOLLYWEIRD AT IT AGAIN
You are correct.
Yes it was an undersea earthquake somewhere near Crete.
In the beginning of the movie there was a storm but yes a seismic rogue wave turned her over
The weather started getting rough, the huge ship was tossed.
F1RST Poseidon Movie - "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972)
SECOND Poseidon Movie - "Beyond The Poseidon Adventure" (1979)
THIRD Poseidon Movie - "The Poseidon Adventure (re-made for TV in 2005)
FOURTH Poseidon Movie - "POSEIDON" (2006)
Thanks for the info 😊
And the original is the only good one
@@bigkmoviesandgames pretty much i do think the 2006 film is good, as i do love the model of the MS Poseidon, and the scenes of the Capsizing and sinking, though, i'm not really hating the Original Poseidon Adventure, and it does have its good moments within it, oh yeah, and plus being an iconic film in general
@@titan-1802 yeah I'm definitely not saying that the other films are without any quality. I just didn't really get anything out of the other three. I will admit visually that the newest one is superior to the 70s film but it just doesn't have the emotion, depth, or heart that the original had.
I just saw 3 Academy Award winners! Michael Caine for Alfie. Sally Field for Norma Rae and Carl Maulden for On The Water Front.
*Malden
4 Academy Award Winners! Shirley Jones for Elmer Gantry
Well It would be News to Michael Caine if he Won for Alfie(was nominated, But Paul Scoffied Won for A Man for all Seasons) Michael Caine won Two Supporting Acting Awards, 1986 Hannah and Her Sisters, and 1999 for Cider House Rules.
BRAD GOOGLE IS UR CLOSE FRIEND!
@@sickheadache9903 Cool it.
Because m16s totally make storm trooper gun noises.
LOL
That sequel should have never existed
Slim Pickens alone is worth the entry fee.
Personally i love both 'The Poseidon Adventure' and 'Beyond The Poseidon Adventure' equally, have bought both films on a double DVD set recently, on the front sleeve it has written 'two of the greatest disaster movies ever', to this day i still love the line said by Karl Malden as Wibur, "it's a floating time bomb", i read he was 97 when he passed a way and he has a major post office building named after him.
Nice information.:)
Even the trailer is bad. The ship wasn't sunk by a storm. She was sunk by a giant wave caused by an undersea earthquake.
Um~
The Poseidon Adventure (1972) Trailer Said:
"A 90ft Tital Wave"
+Michael Benami Doyle I thought it was a rouge wave?
+Nathan Peterson
Poseidon (2006) Used A 150-Foot Rogue Wave
The Poseidon Adventure (1972) Used A 90-Foot Title Wave
+Artistic Jay-R in the movie the captain received a message about an undersea earthquake near crete, so...
cometandcupids Well it did, but not in the first film's timeline.
Why'd they kill my man Tex? That was just cruel.
It's all about the bling!💕
Slim Pickens FTW
Good Poseidon soo good ❤❤❤😊
I'm still waiting for the prequel!
🤣👍
SS Poseidon capsizes on the launching ramp. Dock workers must make it out before smoko.
we've all waited for a prequel to reckon this Film
Alfred Pennyworth vs Blofeld! What’s not to like!
1.20 It's Agent Gibbs from NCIS!!
You should see him in the 1991 TV movie Goliath Awaits. Ocean liner torpedoed by the Germans in 1939 sinks but air pockets keep entire sections of the ship dry. For decades.
Sorry 1981
I bought this movie for 50 cents like new. It's a rare movie, even if it's cheesy and bad.
VCR I would imagine EH...
How does the sequels get the facts wrong from the first one. The Poseidon was not caught in a storm , it was caught in a underseas earthquake Off the coast of Crete, which caused a tidal wave, nothing to do with the weather.
Why did Irwin Allen change the Plot. Failure.
A 90 foot tidal wave in the Mediterranean.
Of course its a movie
Beyond the Poseidon Adventure is not a good movie, but I can’t help but love it!
The great Peter Boyle
With hair!!
The whole movie sunk , not the ship !
One of the biggest flops ever!
in 1:52 did the ship explode?
yes
I just realized that I have seen this!
The great Telly Savalis, who loves ya baby
1:52 I might as well add some context to this comment.
In the final film, we get to see a close up of the ship exploding. But here in this trailer, we can an extended view of the explosion. Why the hell didn't we get a full view of the explosion within the final film???
I just found out that Michael Caine made "two" flops. Jaws 4 and this one
this movie looks great! I wonder if they will escape the ship before it sinks..
Movie is terrible in comparison to the original.
The Poseidon was struck by a Tsunami, Tidal Wave caused by an Earthquake. So NOW Irwin Allen changes the The Poseidon Adventure Plot. FAILURE.
Kojak to the bottom of the sea
sir michael caine will do anything for a buck remember jaws 4 ha ha haaaaaaaaaa
maybe he thought it would be a good movie
Came here after Shout! Factory announced the Irwin Allen: Master of Disaster collection.
1:36 Did that weapon make the noise of a Star Wars blaster?
I guess they borrowed 20th Century Fox's clips from The Poseidon Adventure (at the time it was released it was owned by 20th)
20th Century Fox did it better. Warner Bros. Didn't.
How was it?
Five bucks for a rental?! Who knows?
The Original movie was a classic. This..Not so much. I'm presently watching it on TMC. Unless Shelly Winters floats up as a hungry Zombie...This Tanks!
the Poseidon flows even has it explodes Temp 1:48
That scene was cut when she ate the cameraman before she got her makeup on.
This movie has a sequel, if you don't mind sequels that aren't quite as good as the original, with Michael Caine and Telly Savalas. Same writer and producer.
I love this movie!
You meant 1973
Cool👍
I rather watch this than most marvel/fast and furious movies. A
Além da aventura de Poseidon
How to spoil a movie in 2 minutes.
Slim Pickles ??? 🙄
LOL
Just who narrated this trailer? It's definitely not Don LaFontaine, Hal Douglas, Jackson Beck or Percy Rodriguez.
It’s prequel to titanic 😂
this film has zero connections to Titanic ya lead pipe
For once Luke Skywalker isn’t holding a lightsaber
Holy shit....Slim Pickins is in this thing..? He ain't no Red Buttons but it's still gotta be worth a watch.
I don't understand. Why is there a Poseidon Adventure and a _Beyond_ the Poseidon Adventure?
its called a SEQUEL
Google it
Yeah...I see why this was a epic failure.
One of the funniest movies ever made.
They sure did get alot of stars to sign up for this dreck.
1972 or 1979?
The 1st one came out in 72
So is this meant to be a remake of the Poseidon adventure? Because it looks pretty bad.
No, It is a sequel to the original Movie
...again upside down sets...wow..
Script was so bad even sylvester stallone turned it down,,, "" yo adriatic'''
Coincidentally, he did like the original concept for this sequel, which involved being trapped in a collapsed tunnel- which went on to become Daylight.
BEst example, how to ruin a movie!
Priceless-00bc-2099ad
I prefer it to the original
Fake Cruise ship
Real Cargo,Tug Built,Submarino,Aircraft,Torpedo Nuclear
The Poseidon was a Fictional Ocean Line, not a Cruise ship *they not the same exact thing*
One of the worst movies ever made.
Superman IV, 1987 > this POS movie
Superior sequel-00bc-2099@d. Awesome upside down Burbank s. Calif. Soundstages. Original just érase bully Shelley n i dig it
Jaws 4 > this trash movie
I had the same reaction to watching this movie as I did when watching Rogue One. Both movies are dumb, have no substance, dull characters that I could care less what happens to them, constantly refers to plot points and story lines of the original movies and insults the intelligence of people who loved The Poseidon Adventure and Star Wars.
New hope is garbage
Yea, this film was not a good idea, who approves this stuff?
it would had been better if they instead just added the Scene of the Ship blowing up to the Original Poseidon Adventure, and then call it a day
so the original done badly...real badly
okay - just checkin
