You must have been living under a rock for the last 7 years. Just under half of this country supports a treason-committing, failed reality tv star and life long con-man. Those people are choosing Donald, mother fucking, Trump over our country. Just think about that for a second. Millions still believe him and we're willing to murder members of Congress and his own V.P. They are doing it because the other have of the country actually believes in the words on the Statue Of Liberty, The Constitution and the National Anthem. We actually want to practice what we preach and Trump supporters want all the honor but none of the responsibility of that flag. This country is broken ... don't lump us all in the same category just because it sound "deep". When their idea of America is hating anyone that doesn't look like them or think like them. THAT is the exact opposite of America. We are liars and hypocrites and the whole world knows it.

@@shepherdzghost3514 That is really deep. It sounds good but ignoring the obvious is what got us here to begin with. Just under half this country chose Donald Trump over AMERICA. They chose a mentally ill con-man for one reason and one reason only...he had the vocabulary and mentality of a scorned 13 year old girl and attacked the people that they hate....the people who want to eliminate the hate that gets people killed. Half this country wants the right to verbally and physically attack minorities and anyone who doesn't think like them. Trump supporters are not Americans...they use the flag as a prop and the only part of the Constitution that they care about is the right to bear arms. Everything they stand for is anti-America. The best we can hope for is that their offspring are smarter than they are.
When I ask a Republican to please put on a mask I have an immunocompvomised family member at home who could die if infected ... I get a look of death and an argument. You only want the country to unite when it comes to unnecessary illegal wars bombing brown people.
Correction: Toby Keith's father did not die in 9/11. He simply honors his father's patriotism for inspiring his own. Toby originally wrote this song to perform for the soldiers and it became so popular in made radio play. Toby does a lot of shows for the soldiers for free.

I too, have the BIGGEST soul feeling for each and every veteran. Soldiers as you say. They are the life blood, literally, of America and many other countries' freedom. We have defended our allies in two world wars. Contrary to popular belief outside of America, we don't start wars. But we do finish them. Blessings on ALL of our troops and vets, including our forces' medical corps, everywhere! GREAT REACTION guys!

I’m a Democrat and I’m very proud of this country. I do recognize that we are hated by many though and it’s important to remember this because democracy is fragile and many enemies want to destroy it. I feel like we can have our issues and dislikes with our country while still feeling grateful to live here. In fact, many of the issues or complaints I have are coming from a place of wanting to protect our democracy and always be working at getting better. Don’t let the media convince you that an entire party is your enemy because it isn’t true. I might not agree with some conservative policies but I absolutely value the democracy that gives conservatives the right to put forth those policies, wether I like them or not. We are Democrats & Republicans etc. but we MUST be Americans first. Divided we fall.

I am sooo proud of my children when they stop a vet and thank them for their service.
"Soldiers are the backbone of the nation" is, perhaps, the most intelligent and beautiful thing I've heard recently. It's a beautiful realization and, please, be aware, that many of us draw inspiration from soldiers all over the world. Please know that as an American of Polish descent I find inspiration in brave men and women across the world. Bishnu Shrestha is one such person.
In my limited understanding, Gorkha soldiers have a motto. “It is better to die than be a coward.” Bishnu was retired and heading home. 40+ attackers armed with blades and guns raided the train, yet he didn't react. Not until a young woman was about to be raped did he intervene. From the reports I read she looked at him and said, "Brother, you are a soldier, please help your sister."
Bishnu Shrestha drew his Khukri and went on to do a soldier's work. When all was said and done the girl was safe, at least 8 attackers were killed and Bishnu was offered a hefty reward, which he never collected. Then, when interviewed he said one of the most hardcore things I've ever heard. "Fighting the enemy in battle is my duty as a soldier. Taking on the thugs on the train was my duty as a human being."

Gonna echo what Tommy Walker said. I don't know how it got all confused, but the secret to the United States is just to be fair. We'll get along with anybody as long as they try to get along with us. I mean, after we go to war, we even try to help our opponents to rebuild! We just want everyone to enjoy prosperity, peace, and parties!
As an American one thing I noticed is that Indian Americans are a huge benefit to America.
One of my heroes Dinesh D’Souza came to America from India and he taught me so much about how to be American even though I was born here/

Clarification Tony Keith’s father did not die in the attacks, he was in a fatal accident earlier that year.
The accident happened in March of 2001. The song is not only a tribute to his father but also to rally the troops to fight not just for the US but for everybody's freedom.

In America if we see a vet while we are out or a soldier we always stop and thank them for their service 🇺🇸

Grandfather was Army, much respect, I was Army also. To the people who talk down patriotism. Patriotism converts to something called W2F( Will to fight). W2F is what keeps military going when facing adversity, when outnumbered, when away from family. I saw it in Desert Storm, you could feel it when when the Iraqi military lost its will. So I get civilians, not understanding Patriotism. And I hope your Will to fight is never tested.

As someone who did search and rescue work at ground zero after the 9-11 attack it matched my mood when I then shipped out as infantry to Afghanistan to fight terrorism. 🇺🇸

Those really were pictures of his father, and yes, he really did lose his eye in combat. To hear him say that his father still flew the American flag until the day he died makes me quit feeling sorry for myself and appreciate what I have.

Actually, Toby Keith's father died a few months before 9-11, when a bus slammed into his car. So yes, his father's death definitely influenced this song, when considering he was still mourning the unexpected loss of his father, with whom he was very close to when 9-11 happened.

My favorite military event inspired song was Vince Vance and The Valiant's Bomb Iran, a cover of the Beach Boy's Barbara Ann from 1980 during the Iran hostage crisis. John Cale's Ready For War was also popular at the time.
You both said you were getting goosebumps the sign of what American stands for. Your salute at the end made my day. You 2 are examples of who true Americans are. Americans are those who are willing to fight and die for freedom and the constitution. We may disagree on things but both sides of the isle have to be willing to fight for each other’s freedom to feel that way. A house divided can not stand!

It was a song written honoring his father and his service then 911 happened the same year, and Toby Keith took this song to the troops out in the field to body morale. The leftists tried to make it sound like we were being to angry, made the radio stations ban this song from being played on the radio cause they thought we Americans couldn't handle it. Turned out to be a most patriotic song 🇺🇲❤

My Grandpa was in WW2, my Dad Korean War, Two Uncles in Vietnam and Cousin in Desert Storm...I broke my back and couldn't join the Desert Storm War 💔
I was amazed when I was able to trace my family's ancestry all the way back to the Revolutionary War. All my paterial uncles were in WW1 or WW2. (There was 20 yrs between the oldest to the youngest, my dad) My dad was in the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. I hope and pray that if we ever are in another war, the public opinion doesn't change like what happened when the solders came back from Vietnam. That gets to me every time I think of it.
I think this song points out an important fact about Americans - we will unite and fight for freedom. History has shown this to be true over and over again. Americans will fight for freedom over and over again.

Toby Keith is from Olkahoma USA. He now 61 yrs old. He's been battling stomach cancer. Treatment had been doing well, things are looking up for him.
