@@anonamatron very sad to hear this. I have been racially assaulted before so I understand. Type "indian accent" on youtube and you will still find people doing worse so removing Apu hasn't really achieved anything-Apu or not racism against Indians will exist but we have removed an Indian character without there ever being an actual racist event within simpsons occurring. Just my two cents.
To remove a character so they don't offend Indians, only to see Indians loving the character, it says it all for this weird woke agenda. Apu was a great honest, honourable and dedicated character, a family fan, a hard worker, a good friend to Homer and the others. I don't see the negative...
It’s been like that for a while. Non Americans saying cultural appreciation and jest is fine. Americans screaming Bloody Mary and ignoring cultures voices from around the world. America is strange. Too much time to think.
It seems like you haven't seen the full episodes these clips are from. There are sooo many wonderful moments with Apu, especially from the earlier seasons. My favorite is when Lisa becomes a Vegetarian & she learns Apu is too. The episode where he gets married, they show the marriage being arranged. When Apu held Snake up, he deserved it after the tons of times Snake held up the Kwik E Mart. Homer is an exaggerated version of an American man. Most of the main characters are exaggerated versions of their ethnicity. I hate that 1 woke man got Apu cancelled.
It was not one woke dude. It was an army of people swearing they are offended for people that never existed. Same thing happened a while ago with a white girl wearing a Chinese dress.... 'as an Chinese American I am offended' but people in China just said it was a nice dress.
As a white male I find Homer offensive and I demand he be cancelled from the Simpsons! I'm also calling for the removal of Mayor Quimby, Chief Wiggum, Principal Skinner and Barney for various unnamed reasons.
Apu was a great character! I'm sad he is gone. He was a personification of the American Dream. Sure, they made fun of his accent, and white guy was reading his part...so what? Apu was a role model and they were highlighting the work ethic of Americans from Asia.
I think the accent was pretty spot on, listening to these two. I had the screen scrolled down to the comments before the woman spoke and when she did I thought it was Apu's wife or something, but it seemed like a different voice, so I scrolled up to see which character it was... nope.. it was a real Indian woman. I don't know what to call this accent.. there are different Indian accents but these two are not very dissimilar to Apu's "white" accent.
The issue with Apu is that he is voiced by a White guy, who in today's culture is refusing to voice the character anymore as he believes that the role should go to an Indian actor. Too bad you two aren't more familiar with the Simpsons so that you could catch all the humor bits, especially everything packed into that tiny robbery scene. Every single sentence there is referencing Simpson's lore in a comical way.
The fact that they like Apu just goes to show why it’s stupid for one group of people to decide what should offend another group of people and taking action to prevent it.

Apu is an important character! I dont think Apu was invented to insult indian people. Because Apu 1) has a lot of screen time , and 2) he has a lot of sides and not only the ''funny'' sides, but also sweet and emotional sides. In fact, Apus character invites the whole world to get more interest in the india culture! I think the god ''Ganesh'' and his importance for marriages i actually learned from the Simpsons, and then i looked it up in wikipedia to learn more about hinduism. Simpsons actually put in a lot of characters and cultures and religions. And the funny way makes it easy to get interested into those cultures and religions! Thats how it was for me. I absolutely agree with your loudguys that we are living in such sad snowflake-times where everything is counted insulting which is funny in a harmless way. Hope the world changes in few years for the better... and leaves that ''woke era''.
I lived and worked in Leicester, England for around 15 years. Plenty of Gujaratis, I learned a lot about India from them. I also had some Punjabi-Sikh friends and co-workers, there's not very many in the UK, but I love Punjabi-Sikhs, very much like Scottish people. I did also visit a Jain temple in Leicester, the Gujarati-Hindus treat the Jains with suspicion, they say it's only for people with money...I don't know if that is true, but their temples are beautiful.

Yes there wasn’t Octomom I think either United States or Canada and was a side effect of taking some kind of birth control pill or something like that but there was an actual Octomom---
Octomom lived/lives in Southern California, she had children and desired more. She had a doctor prescribe fertility drugs hence gave birth to her 8 babies. They all around 18 now.
What Indians feel for Apu, is the same that Mexicans, feel for Speedy Gonzales, they are not, in any way, offensive stereotypes, they are a tribute, wholesome, smart and funny, with a good heart, excellent characters, who represent their culture, shame wokes got rid if rid of him, they tried to cancel Speedy Gonzales, but Mexican community complaint and Warner Bros, was forced to take back the cancelation.
The octuplets is a joke about the Octamom, a single woman who underwent fertility treatments, and had 8 kids at once. She was obviously crazy, but it sparked a lot of debate about the ethics of her fertility treatments. (It's also a joke about how Apu must have 8 kids at home, to cause him to work so hard.)
This episode was surprisingly years before Octomom, aired in 1999. But shortly after the first septuplet birth in the US. The Simpsons wanted to literally one-up the septuplet mom by giving Apu and Manjula 8 children.
Around 1997, there was a lot of media attention around the McCaughey septuplets. The mother was undergoing fertility treatments and ended up having 7 kids. I believe Apu's octuplets are directly based on this news story. I remember watching the Simpsons episode when it came out. Apu's wife was given fertility drugs by multiple characters accidently and so that is why she had octuplets.
Kausamar Deep. Look up 'octomom' she gave birth to octoplets(eight children at a time), I, believe, in the 1990s. They all survived and are all grown, now.
If everyone gets jokes made about themselves then it’s fair. If you can only joke about one people then it’s forced discrimination. I always saw Apu as a great, honest, helpful, patriotic American that would do anything in his power to help his family live the American dream, and have a better life. “Woke” people see Apu’s skin, and say that you could hurt people’s feelings. Who is judging the situation based on race? Me, or the “woke” people?
There's a 2010 tv show called outsourced that you might find entertaining. It's about an American businessman sent to India to run a call center and him trying to adjust to the new culture. I'd love to see your reaction to it if you're able to find some clips of the show.
The thing about the Ganesha was Homer was outed immediately. 'Ganesha is graceful' - nobody in the show took him seriously as a god. They just rolled their eyes at the idiot and went on with life.
I agree with you guys. I haven't watched since season 7, but I loved it. I am a Christian, and Ned Flanders and Rev. Lovejoy are more funny than offensive. O.K. Lovejoy is an ass, but a lot of ministers are. Ned is very sincere, but is to obsessed with being a perfect believer, even at the expenses of himself and others. I see my younger self in him. do use stereotypes, but not in a mean spirited way.
It's funny how Apu is one of the most fleshed out characters in the show who isn't a member of the Simpson family. We get such an insight into his personal life, we meet his family, we see his friendship with Homer in depth, we are given a real understanding of his personality and he's a rare character who has more of a purpose than just gags or being foil to the Simpsons. Yet all these libs see is an Indian man with an accent who runs a shop. And they're the ones who cry that it's racist. Yet again, projecting their racism.
Apu was a beloved character that literally no one was offended by until the voice actor arbitrarily decided the character was racist as an attempt to virtue signal his woke status. In reality, of course, people with virtue never virtue signal. They simply live virtuously. The only thing virtue signalling accomplishes is it publicly communicates you are a weak minded follower of trends with no principles to stand on, which is how virtue signals come about in the first place. Removing Apu from The Simpsons was discriminatory against Indian people and Indian culture, as well as an insult to the general viewership. Like ALL the cartoon's characters, Apu was based on stereotypes, but unlike any other character on the show, Apu was based on entirely positive stereotypes. Claiming Apu was racist was the least woke, weakest, and problematic move any voice actor could possibly make. Let us all pray that prick Hank Azaria's stupidity leaves him penniless and alone as karmic payback to the millions of fans he turned against, the millions of Indians he insulted by cancelling Apu, and the quasi-treasonous act of supporting the woke culture war against his own populace, not to mention the damage done to a beloved, and popular cartoon that was intentionally designed to be controversial in the first place. A format Hank Azaria should be FIRED for betraying by refusing to voice the character any further. (Which is literally a refusal to do the job he was hired to do, and thinks he should be rewarded for.) At least now we can all see plainly the self evident fact that Hank Azaria is a racist, fake woke, derelict, waste of a human being.
"woke" white people love to decide what other cultures are offended by. I live in a foreign countrry but am from the US. In the US I once did something that people deemed racist to the people of the country I now live in. One of my favorite things to do here is to get in front of big groups of people and share that story with them and watch their reaction. I tell them what I said and the vast majority of people here say "yeah that's true". I've never had ANYONE, out of many hundreds of people, tell me that what I said was offensive. (I think it's possible someone was but just decided to keep quiet about it, but I don't believe that's a very big number of people) I also like to share racial stereotypes about them out of context. I'll just say "is it true that everyone here eats _____?" when they say "yes" or "well, most people, yeah?" I ask them how offended they are. They look really confused. So... this is what the white woke idiots in the US are protecting these poor poor people from. We have to be harassed constantly by "woke" individuals, while going TO THE COUNTRY THE VICTIMS LIVE IN and saying these things directly to their faces results in agreement for the most part. Those people have plenty of stereotypes about Americans too, and they're generally unafraid to say them directly to me. I have been offended by it, but the vast majority of the people just don't understand the reason behind something or have a genuine question, or any other non-aggressive reason to be saying that to me, meaning I probably don't need to be very angry most of the time. I just explain things and then they know more and we don't have to worry about that bullshit and we can be friendly. It's like just generally being nicer to people is more effective than worrying about every little word and "microaggressions" and all that other bullshit.
This wasn't Hank Azaria's doing or his fault. One guy was offended by Apu and made a documentary that somehow took off and got the character canceled. Azaria was even forced to apologize for voicing Apu all those years lest he himself be canceled. And with all the controversy plus the fact that nobody else would be accepted as Apu, it was decided to all but eliminate Apu. He's occasionally seen standing around silently in some scenes to remind us that he still exists but that's all there can ever be now
So the most common human pregnancy is one egg getting fertilized, twins and triplets can naturally occur semi frequently when multiple eggs are in the tubes or uterus when fertilized. Quadruplets and over (4 or more) is most commonly occurring in people who are doing invitrofertilization where chance of pregnancy increases as there’s multiple eggs and sperm cells typically four put in at one time. It’s rare to naturally occur and can be a sign that the pregnant individual has ovarian production issues/tumors/hormone problems etc. which can be a genetically inherited if naturally occurring. There may also be excessive mensural blood, cramps, back pain, or blood flow issues, or other indicators that your ovaries are over producing. It’s not far fetched to say tho that your natural octuplet also had octuplets, it’s like saying your twins also had twins. There was a greater likelihood of it happening due to genes but it’s still more common that they would just have random multiples maybe 2 kids would have 1 kid, 6: 2-5 on average and 2: having 6-8. I think that all of the natural octuplets are actually just sets of twins, but I’m not sure about that.
I’m gonna go out on the limb where there’s those two birds watching the fruit being eaten and say Ganesh himself would have laughed at that second joke about him being subdued. Had nothing to do with homer up the tree being beaten although that’s the one Judas hangs from bleeding so the bludgeoning is apt.
The character of Cletus Spuckler on the Simpsons propagates the most vile, mean-spirited, bigoted stereotypes against any group (in this case Southerners) quite possibly of any character on American TV (backwards, ignorant, uneducated, married to his cousin, the kids are inbred, dirt poor and stupid, etc. etc. ), stereotypes that Southerners actually have to defend themselves against from ignorant non-Southerners who actually believe this stuff , and yet sensible, hardworking business owner Apu who's out there living the American dream is the one that cancel culture demands must be eliminated. There is so much hypocrisy in America today from the woke left.
In America, if you are Irish or Norwegian or Polish or Italian, you grow up with a lot of jokes about your race and you laugh. It is not offensive because many of the stereotypes are true and therefore funny.
They should bring him back, and have you voice him and gis wife. And they'd pay you both well, too. 💰 🤑 💸 💲 One of the issues that was had with him was a white guy was the voice actor. Never mind that he was smarter than Homer, more successful, had a happy marriage, healthy family.
Do you have a channel reacting to things that actually happened? I'd love to see what you have to say about the starship prototypes flights for example.
The people who created The Simpsons did an animated sci fi comedy called Futurama (also good) which recreates the "Homer as Ganesha" joke but with a clueless alien doctor dressing up as Jesus. I would argue that, when Homer is dressed as Ganesha at the wedding, the target of the joke is not Ganesha himself or Hinduism more broadly. The joke is that Homer is a stupid boor who thinks that dressing up in a costume and waving his arms like he's in an old Godzilla movie will fool anyone or help his friend out at all. The scene reinforces this reading when Apu is mortified, his family and friends respond with disgust and anger and the big guy in the white jacket (of course) sees right through Homer's disguise and goes after him. It also begs the question: where did Homer get the Ganesha costume? Who does he think Ganesha is, exactly? This isn't the only time he's been revealed to be very confused on the matter (S4E3 "Homer The Heretic").
I always thought people came down a bit too hard on Apu, despite the fact he definitely embodies some ethnic stereotypes. I mean . . . . have people SEEN Consula from Family Guy? Anyway, the real shame is that if The Simpsons had just concluded at the right time they wouldnta had the controversy in the first place.
Stereotypes are not necessarily hateful. Go watch Weird Al's UHF. I think Weird Al is pretty clean and innocent.... but his movie has a part where a bunch of Asian people (martial arts guys) jump out of a supply closet and say "SUPPLIES!!!!". In Spaceballs the black troopers are the only ones literally combing the desert with an afro pick. I would say those are both directly making fun of other races. I also don't remember any major outrage... I've seen several black RUclipsrs react to Spaceballs now and I always wonder if they'll say someething about the afro pick part.... they really never do... So... are those jokes the most tasteful...? Eh.. not really... but are you a bad person for laughing at them? I think you only need to feel bad if you actually hate those groups and take pleasure in hurting them. If you just notice a silly stereotype being used for a laugh it doesn't make YOU racist if you laugh at it.

I am an asian and loved Apu too. Bring back Apu. They dropped his character because of the experience of one NRI Indian who got bullied in school. Apu was supposed to represent the life of so many hard working, first generation South Asian immigrants in USA and other parts of the world.
My best friend growing up was an Indian-American and tons of people called him "Apu" and asked him to say "thank you! come again!".
I don't know how much it really bothered him.. he was usually pretty easygoing about it but I think it got on his nerves sometimes. He grew up in the US and didn't have an Indian accent at all.
@@anonamatron very sad to hear this. I have been racially assaulted before so I understand. Racism still exists and what we have done is instead of trying to educate people about racism we removed a character from tv cartoon that showed what Indian immigrants go through in the USA and stopped simpsons telling their story.
Folks, that isn’t woke, it’s called political correctness.
His wife was given fertility drugs by several different people which is why she had octuplets.
Apu was also a volunteer firefighter who rescued Homer despite making fun of Genisha.
Apu is hardworking, sober and important to his community - he is one of the good guys of the Simpsons' World.
"Octomom" had 8 children through artificial insemination here in the US. It was a big scandal because she of course had to go on public assistance.
Was that.... A) before the porn B) during the porn C) after the porn, or
D) all of the above?
The issue with Apu is that he is voiced by a White guy, who in today's culture is refusing to voice the character anymore as he believes that the role should go to an Indian actor.
Too bad you two aren't more familiar with the Simpsons so that you could catch all the humor bits, especially everything packed into that tiny robbery scene. Every single sentence there is referencing Simpson's lore in a comical way.
They did the exact same thing on Family Guy, voiced by the wrong color human.
wish theyd just hire an indian voice actor to play him
Yeah, Hank Azaria is a jerk
I really respect Hank Azaria for that decision.
Actors don't want to act anymore and we're still paying them ridiculous amounts of money.
Lot of comedy is roasting one another, You guys are great and totally agree with your closing comments...Love you guys keep up the hard work!!!
I miss Apu, he was my favorite character in The Simpsons.
You guys have a fantastic sense of humor :) please keep doing what you are doing!
Apu is one of the best characters they ever had in the show. Most episodes that involve him have a lot of heart to it.
That's heart breaking editing lol Straight from the wedding to Apu ashamed of himself for cheating.
The fact that they like Apu just goes to show why it’s stupid for one group of people to decide what should offend another group of people and taking action to prevent it.
Believe it or not, octo-mom's record was broken by nonuplets. A woman recently had 9 babies at one time.
WOW!! Praying she has devoted family members and friends...🙏🏻❤️
@@corinnepmorrison1854 praying for her to ever again sleep before they turn 18. Imagine the diaper changes and feedings. Yeeeeesh
@@JorgensZelda You are right... I cannot imagine what caring for all those babies requires each and every day... Mind boggling!!
12:50 the current world record is nonuplets, a woman from the north of the Mali gave birth to them in Morocco and all nine babies are healthy, this was in 2021
I am tired to read that Apu is just a "Stereotype". He is one of the Smartest People in Springfield, a great Dad and a great Cartoon Character.
I miss Apu! I love that you did this episode. I love Indian culture (American here). Indian culture & religion has been my favorite to independently learn about. I've been a Simpsons fan since the 1st episode!
They used to nickname me as Apu at work, just because I have similar looks, even though I'm Brazilian, not Indian.
Apu needs to come back. His character has so much heart. I love Apu and would so chill with him anytime.
Apu was voiced by a white dude, Hank Azaria. Azaria was the one who wanted to stop doing so and hoped the roll would be picked up by an actual Indian.
exactly. I'm not sure why this is so difficult for these whiny "everyone I disagree with is woke" folks to understand.
he quit before he was fired. doesnt stop it from being a woke move.
@@Shiirow Why is "woke" always bad? That a white voice actor realizes he is voicing an Indian dude and wants that roll to go to an Indian? Good. That is good.
100% if an Indian dude voiced a white guy in a 30 year+ running sitcom it would be pointed out to people. But it hasn't, because it won't happen unless big names like Hank Azaria don't step down.
"Woke" is not bad. It can get carried away and Hollywood can go straight up stupid with it but it is NOT bad that we are recognizing we need more representation.
@@christinaify Woke is bad. Period!
@@christinaify It's called acting. There's no reason why a voice *actor* needs to look exactly like the *fictional character* they are voicing.
Woke nonsense like this is bad because it helps nothing. In fact it's done the opposite. It's ruined a minority character that people loved.
...That's not a good thing.
As I recall, in "The Trouble With Apu", one of the documentarian's biggest issues was that Apu was THE ONLY Indian character on TV. How that was The Simpsons fault, I'll never know. Anyway, Apu should hit is head and wake up with the voice if Kunal Nayar or Kal Penn..
nah. he should keep his original voice.
cleveland brown(the black guy from family guy) is voiced by a white man.
bart simpson is voiced by an old woman.
i'm pretty sure bumblebee man is voiced by someone who is not a latino.
and all of that is ok. the voice actor doesnt need to fit the identities of the character.
@@sabin97 a lot of people feel very different when it comes to cross ethnic voice work.
@@curtismartin2866
those people are snowflakes, and shouldnt be welcome anywhere. if a voice actor does a good job, that's all that matters. the skin tone, genitals, age, etc are irrelevant.
@@sabin97 Bumblebee man is voiced by Eric Lopez. Who is indeed Latino.
@@sabin97 sadly they actually recast cleveland about a year ago.
This is the first time seeing your channel. You two are very sweet & entertaining!!
I'm so glad we're getting real opinions of Apu instead of people who try to get attention by complaining about everything
I'm watching you guys from mid Missouri!
Ya'll are hilarious 🤣
Same here
Kausamar Deep. Look up 'octomom' she gave birth to octoplets(eight children at a time), I, believe, in the 1990s. They all survived and are all grown, now.
Love to see you guys laughing. Its very humbling. ❤🙏❤
For a brief period more than 20 years ago, I had an Indian colleague whose marriage was arranged when he was a kid, AND he was happily married.
I loved that show
That was good show/ movie too. Wish it wasn’t canceled
Beloved character
Love your show! From the USA
Nadya Suleman was the first ever person to give birth to surviving octuplets in January 2009. They call her "Octo-mom".
They didn't show a lot of Apu's things like "Look at this markup, you magnificent bastard" when he's at the air port.
The thing about the Ganesha was Homer was outed immediately. 'Ganesha is graceful' - nobody in the show took him seriously as a god. They just rolled their eyes at the idiot and went on with life.
Namaste friends and know that you are very much appreciated here in the USA! Greetings from North Carolina!
Loved The Simpsons back in the 90's. Maybe check out another character from the show Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel
Some folk'll never eat a skunk but then again some folk'll like Cletus the slack jawed yokel
What a delightful couple these two are. =)
As an Indian born in Los Angeles, I love this
Oh my God based on her reaction now you guys have to react to OCTOMOM!
The fact that you call homer "Mr Simpson" is adorable.
The Babylon Bee, a satire website. reported that the Clevland Indians are considering replacing their current mascot with Apu.
You guys are cool. I don't get mad at the crazy Texan hollerin' and ye'hawin' and firin' his guns into the air. I only do that most of the time.
I miss Apu,he got removed because a bunch of liberals in america decided he was racist lol.
The octomom Natalie Suleman, had an American tv show
EVERY character on The Simpsons is a (potentially) offensive stereotype. That's what makes the show so funny.
13:00 look up octo-mom. 8 babies
(Which is literally a refusal to do the job he was hired to do, and thinks he should be rewarded for.)
At least now we can all see plainly the self evident fact that Hank Azaria is a racist, fake woke, derelict, waste of a human being.
They got rid of the character because of the film “The problem with Apu”
"woke" white people love to decide what other cultures are offended by.
I live in a foreign countrry but am from the US. In the US I once did something that people deemed racist to the people of the country I now live in. One of my favorite things to do here is to get in front of big groups of people and share that story with them and watch their reaction. I tell them what I said and the vast majority of people here say "yeah that's true". I've never had ANYONE, out of many hundreds of people, tell me that what I said was offensive. (I think it's possible someone was but just decided to keep quiet about it, but I don't believe that's a very big number of people)
I also like to share racial stereotypes about them out of context.
He's occasionally seen standing around silently in some scenes to remind us that he still exists but that's all there can ever be now
RIP Apu, one of the best characters ever made

Fan fact: ,,Apu" means daddy in hungarian and korean too
I’m gonna go out on the limb where there’s those two birds watching the fruit being eaten and say Ganesh himself would have laughed at that second joke about him being subdued. Had nothing to do with homer up the tree being beaten although that’s the one Judas hangs from bleeding so the bludgeoning is apt.
Much love from California
Remember,,,ALL Simpson characters are stereotypes!!!!
That is what makes it hilarious 🤣
Thank you guys for being so true and based!
The more I see the responses to Indians reacting to Apu, the more it's become very obvious there was "no real problem" with him.
Twenty years from now people are going to complain that there are no representation in cartoons and mascots.
In America, if you are Irish or Norwegian or Polish or Italian, you grow up with a lot of jokes about your race and you laugh. It is not offensive because many of the stereotypes are true and therefore funny.
I grew up in Minnesota and never heard any Norwegian or Swedish jokes. I have seen jokes in books, but I have never heard anyone tell any!
You hit the nail on the head about the snowflakes in the US! I cannot stand the cancel culture they spread. You two are awesome. Great video.
Remember they called it offensive because of portraying an accent. You sir sound literally like him
They should bring him back, and have you voice him and gis wife. And they'd pay you both well, too. 💰 🤑 💸 💲
One of the issues that was had with him was a white guy was the voice actor. Never mind that he was smarter than Homer, more successful, had a happy marriage, healthy family.
Do you have a channel reacting to things that actually happened? I'd love to see what you have to say about the starship prototypes flights for example.
Apu need his own show where his family returns to India and he lives in a Bollywood inspired sitcom
Apu Trendsetter, the one who gets her wetter

I figured a long time ago that Apu is actually well liked by the people in India. Regardless of what that one cry baby's anti Apu movie.
Love the videos and your voices
Apu is my favorite person in The Simpsons.
Actually the story indicated that they were betrothed to each other at about 3 years old back in India.
Everyone loves apu. He is the embodiment of pure soul. Simpsons never did him wrong.
