Steve, you and Alex have done yourself proud - really proud, you both tackled the wall brilliantly (Alex you too showed what a great 'bricklayer' you are).
Fantastic job Steve. It must be nice knowing that wall is sturdy as all hell and will be standing for hundreds of years after you and I are both gone. I like those bricks with the four holes instead of a frog. They must give a helluva good bond once the mortar has squished into the holes. Looks a treat.
Another well finished job done and dusted them inspection chamber risers are the best mortar board stands, you can chuck them about and are nice and light and you can stick a couple together for more height, are they Carlton brick you were using on this little job Steve as they look very familiar, anyway get stocked up on the sun cream and get young Alex to get plenty on as it's going to get hot this week and I have skin lupus from years of sun damage and no sun cream so like to see them young ones protect them selves and learn from thick fellas like myself mistakes 👍
Evening pal , yes we enjoyed this one . The brick are Ibstock Aldridge multis , lovely brick 🧱. As for the sun cream Alex is so good with it he reminds me to slap it on . We put it on twice a day too 👌🏼👍🏼🧱
I agree with you both👍. Good to see Alex on the trowel, like us all when first started just need the time on it and the right guidance and you'll be fine. Awesome aswell to see old brick bonds being used. Sod tie irons when you can tie in with a brick. Top class guys. Take care 👍🇬🇧⚒
Another nice tidy job. How do you get with working on the pavment. Do people push past or cross the road? Alex will be taking over soon and you can put your feet up....
Chris Jones The last couple of walls we have done we have been lucky to have nice wide pavements giving us and pedestrians plenty of room to share safely . We make sure it’s spotless overnight . 🧱👍🏼
I think you are doing it so well. It's a pleasure looking at your hand layer. Do you all ways use mortar that near and sometimes below level? We never use mortar below level, but concrete in Danmark, because of wet weather.
Wish you had done my front wall as it's not level and my twin driveway gates do not fit, so left with one big opening. Did try to call them but they ignored us. Great building video's.
petemason57 . I’m sorry to hear that . It’s so bloody annoying that people do this to customers . Thanks for watching and commenting on our channel 🧱👍🏽
Great quality work well done can i please ask 3 bricks on the top of my wal we loosened ,they have benn relayed i have to screw into them to fix a light weight security camera , how long should i leave it to dry /bond i am not in a hurry,
I'm not sure the blocked out square is helping much. Super easy to find your details online. Just thought you might like to know. Keep the good vids coming.
That’s a nice piece of work , I like the courses with headers in there , is that how English bond is ? We don’t see this bond here maybe here and there
Jay Puyenbroeck . Hi Jay glad you like it . It’s a variation on English bond called English Garden Wall Bond . Instead if alternate courses the headers go in less often , usually every 3 or 5 🧱👍🏽
l wilton Thanks pal . I’m not certain what you mean , if you mean staggering the bond between front and back skin , to do that you would end up with two halves in the back which would look awful and weaken the wall 🧱👍🏼
Bricks are easy just count what is in the wall you are replacing . As for sand and cement I allow 4 1/2 25kg bags to 1 cement for 1 mix which will lay approx 120 bricks . So total bricks divided by 120 gives you how many mixes . So sand is number of mixes x 4.5 .. cement is number of mixes x 1 . Hope that makes sense 🧱👍🏼
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Thanks, yes I've been checking out the Stabila, only discovered recently that my level was out, had no idea, it's a real gotcha if not checked.
Hi there. Good job! Hopefully you still monitor the comments. I can't find any info but is there any prep for the old foundations to ensure mortar sticks to it? Or do you just hose it down and it's good to go?
