- Burton Skeleton Key Snowboard Review - Selected for the 2021/22 Whitelines 100 Awards
What’s in a name? Well, when on the hunt for your new ride, a model’s moniker can often tell you a lot about what to expect from it. Case in point: the Burton Skeleton Key; a veritable access-all-areas pass in snowboard form. [NB: this is no hard-and-fast rule. Whitelines accepts no responsibility if you buy a Jones Hovercraft and aren’t able to buzz around like Marty McFly in Back to The Future Pt. II].
Ben Ferguson had a hand in the original design, so for those keen to channel even a speck of his do-it-all approach to the mountain, look no further.

I really like this particular series of reviews. This chap really knows his stuff and with clips of him actually shredding the boards. It really helps. 🤙🏻
Best review I’ve seen. Great footage!
What do you think of the skeleton key vs the hometown hero?
I am 5' 7'' 225lbs Sz 10-10.5 men's. Purchased a Burton Skeleton Key 2022 154cm $280 bucks on a black Friday sale. My very first board and learning to snowboard have been fantastic. This board has given me the confidence to learn and excel fast because of how responsive, wide, stable, and comfortable this board is on all-mountain terrains. I love this board so much that I got a 158cm version for $125 on sale I could not pass it up! I would definitely recommend this deck to anyone who is looking for a fun ride.
Bruhhh what Black Friday sale was this?! That’s a steal Fam! How are you getting both decks so cheap 😂
How was the feel of the 158 vs 154?
@@ryanjtolbert Sorry for the late reply, I finally got the chance to ride the 158 and it was a blast!!! Very stable and surfy I think I might like it more than 154 because the 158 was able to handle my weight better than the 154. Both sizes are great and can't really go wrong with either size. 158 to me had a better edge hold while carving and bombing down hills.
I am 187lbs 5’11’’. Do you think 154 would be just right for me? I always snowboarded 158s and felt quite limited with turns and spinning.
@@OskarGaczynski 154 would be perfect for your size. I weigh 210-225lbs and 5'7''. The 154 was very fun, fast, and stops on a dime very nimble and responsive. 158 was more surfy moderate ride and perfect powder board more stable due to length. 158 might feel like a boat compared to the 154. hope that helps
Anyone know any park boards with similar designing?
Hi, what would you recommend, Burton SK vs Bataleon Goliath ? Thank you
I have wide stance 23.5 inches. Where would you recommend inplace bindings?? Front foot reference or should i center my stance on board
being 250 pounds with size 12 booths, would the 162 be enough for me?
Hi, I'm curious what boots are you wearing with the step on bindings?
Hey, judging by the design of his boots, he's most likely wearing the Burton Kendo Step On.
Skeleton Key vs. Jones Stratos? They seem pretty well matched up.
I’m trying to decide between these boards right now and can’t
@@Spooby456 I ended up going with the Jones Aviator 2.0 and love it
what are some examples of second tier materials?
is the wfo sintered base the same as the custom for example?
Things like the Super Fly II 700G Core compared to the Dragonfly 600G Core, the omission of any carbon fibre additives, and the WFO Base, as opposed to the super high-end Methlon base. We found they all work super well to create a really lively lightweight and dynamic snowboard, but avoids the pricetag of the top shelf offerings.
And yes, it's the same WFO base as the Custom :)
Happy shredding,
The Whitelines Team
Is this a good beginner board?
Absolutely
