You deserve 20x the subs. This was the most comprehensive Troyes rules breakdown I've seen yet. Many others skip important rules or they talk so fast you have to drop the speed down by 50%. You sir, have a talent. Merci!
Awesome tutorial, not to mention you perfectly recreated my childhood feeling of "trying to grasp how x chapter of mathematics works just before the exam, and then finally starting to understand it", and for that pinch nostalgia I say thank you
Thanks, I had no idea your channel existed. This is the first video I have watched where I was ready to play after one watch. Thank you very much for giving such a resource to the public! I have subscribed :)
Thanks for the kind words Robert! I am pseudo retired from the board game instructional video thing. My “day job” just takes up too much of my time. There are certainly other, more professional learn to play channels out there though. I particularly like the way Paul at “Gaming Rules” or Edward at “Heavy Cardboard” teach games. Who knows, maybe I’ll start making videos again if I get the itch. Thanks for watching!
Awesome awesome how to play guide for Troyes. Much better than your last posting and beats any other explanation found on you tube for this game. Other videos are either too high level expecting you already know everything or other videos are too much unorganized rambling that it does give the full picture and different rules. Thank you!!!
Thank you. After watching another tutorial video and half of another one, I found your video and finally understood the game 😂 I think it was very smart, among other things, to mention the setup at the end!
Thank you so much for this review. I've seen other reviews which are good but yours is very very good. I understand the game now. I've watched your video three or four times, the more I watch it the easier it looks. You did such a great job! Thank you so much. 👍🙂
This was extremely helpful unless the official rulebook which left us completely in the dark on several key game mechanics! Finally get to give this game a shot; thank you! 👊❤
Really excellent explanation. Much appreciated. Just getting ready for my first game but playing solo using the built in solo variant. As an aside, I really like the artwork in this game. Thanks again.
@@ThomasPancoast That is quite odd. I remember making that older video quite awhile ago, but as I got better equipment, I wasn't happy with the image quality. So I re-shot it. I wasn't aware there were two editions to Troyes. Are the rules the same?
@@ThomasPancoast What's really interesting is that I did not submit that older video to BGG. It was uploaded by someone with the BGG username "yetikeeper".
Based on comments in the forums, the only difference is that the new edition has 4 additional bonus cards and includes solo rules. I don't think there are any rule changes.
Thanks for the very clear video. What watch are you wearing? Is that a Breitling? Kept trying to catch it by pausing every time your wrist came into view!
Great play guide!!! I love that you are teaching the classics. Question are red die only worth double when fighting black dice? I noticed when you activated a card with red dice you didn’t double the pips.
Corey Smith great catch! You are correct in your presumption. Red dice are only doubled when used for fighting Black dice. I didn’t make that clear enough. Thanks for watching!
Yes! And all of their secret conditions will apply to you. It adds a fun layer of intrigue trying to guess the secret conditions by watching how everyone plays.
The coins are called "The Best Damn Metal Gaming Coins Period". I got them off kickstarter many years ago. I am not aware of a way to obtain them now. Thanks for watching!
@@GetReadyforGameNight Thanks for the video. We are currently learning this game at my house and the manual is very difficult to follow. Maybe because it was translated to English. Yours is the best instruction on youtube we could find. Rhado has a good run through but none explain the neutral "dummy" players in detail. So, from what I gathered, they do not get a turn as far as dice for the events and purchasing from the different areas and such. They just have their placement and players can buy their dice. Correct? Besides their random event card/cube placements etc as well.
I get that you are going for “unscripted”, but that’s not always a good thing. There are so many points where the momentum just can’t get going because you are trying to remember things off the top of your head. I think you understand and care about the game, so even just one page of notes would make things infinitely better.

You are very kind to say that. I do enjoy teaching games quite a lot. I hope you enjoy the game. Thanks for watching!
I've watched at least three other explanations of this game, and this video is the only one that I understood completely. Thank you!
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!

By far one of the best troyes tutorial ive watched. great job sir.

I love the dice tip. I never knew the opposite side added up to 7. Thanks for sharing!

@@GetReadyforGameNight no problem! You have more than enough videos and I’m sure they will be watched for years to come !
Very nicely explained. I needed a video like this to refresh my memory before the game.
@@Skorrigan very kind of you to say
That was an ace teaching vid, good balance of rules but also the why (playback speed 1.5 worked well for me). Thanks for the video :D

Thanks so much friend. Ive watched this video before but it was great to revisit. Happy new year!
Hope you enjoy playing the game! Thanks for Watching!
Hi! This is the best video rules explanation for Troyes. Can you please post this as an instructional video on BGG? Or do you mind if I do it for you?
Good idea! I just submitted it in the forums for Troyes. It usually takes a day or two before the admins approve it. Thanks for watching!
How confusing. I just noticed that there are two entries for Troyes on BGG. I see that your older video is already linked to the 2016 edition.

The only thing missing that I see is some more elaboration about the mechanics of the dummy players.
Good point. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
