  • Public Meeting on future of RAVEN HOTEL
    • The Raven Hotel, Droit...
    The listed Raven Hotel in Droitwich would be party demolished to make way for 51 new homes, preserving the long-term future of the building.
    The central part of the St Andrews Road hotel which is grade II-listed - and dates back to the late 16th century - will be kept as well as some of the later buildings.
    A plan to build up to 51 homes, which included a mix of flats, terraced, detached and semi-detached homes, as well as space for a bar and restaurant was backed in 2018 by the council.
    The new plan would now see only homes built on the site including nine two-and-three-bed flats, 22 terraced houses and 20 two-to-four-bed homes.
    The hotel had fallen into a shocking state of disrepair and pictures emerged on social media late last year showing the extent of the damage.
    Many people were left angry and disappointed that the historic building had been left to fall into such a bad state.

    I love English buildings. My grandmother's family was the Nottingham family. I still have distant cousins in England.mi love history in general. It's unfortunate that idiots think they have a right to destroy beautiful old buildings and relics. Thank you for recording history, preserving a piece of historical masterpiece.

    Hi matt, I think the first building you were in was probably staff accommodation, the bottle you found is angostura bitters it's something that's added to cocktails, I thinkit was actually poisonous and they had to change the ingredients at some point in the past.

    Crazy history, I’ve just been reading about it. Kings have stayed there. Looks like the owners Malvern Homes are still in business and it still has planning permission to be turned into 51 homes, work was supposed to commence in 2020, I guess pandemic delayed everything? Or they just gave up! Hope they save it soon or it’s just going to not be worth their while, probably already isn’t given the state of it 😔 It’s previously had lottery grants and all sorts to preserve it’s listed status and it still ends up like this 😫

    The use of red brick in Britain starting back in the 1190 Construction on this began in the 11th century, reusing materials from the Roman British town Verulamium. The earliest known use of brick manufactured in the UK after the Romans left is widely regarded as being Coggeshall Abbey in Essex, the oldest parts of the monastic buildings dating to 1190.

    I appreciate everything and everywhere you guys go. I understand that there will be some weeks you all can't explore the best places, travel or finding a place you all didn't explore already or even finding one at all. Sometimes the places are dumps and not worth the film or you all get caught and even the police are involved. Plus you all got to be safe in questionable places as well. So if a video isn't uploaded in a week or more, I'll watch some of your older videos or go to your buddies videos or older ones of theirs. There is always something to watch on your and the crew's channel's.

    Bricks are, without a doubt, one of the oldest known building materials. They date back to 7000 BC where they were first found in southern Turkey and around the city of Jericho. The first bricks were sun-dried and made from mud. 7000 BC Not far off Dan lol.

    I wonder what the future holds for this once grand old building? Turned into expensive flats?, or god forbid, the building being demolished. I just cannot imagine a modern housing complex standing in the footprint of that once proud building. Sadly, with the spread of cheap travel lodges, and air b and b cropping up everywhere, places like this are bound to carry on closing down.

      @@Creedmc85 It would not surprise me if it mysteriously burnt down. Here in North Devon that seems to happen a lot to old hotels where the developers cannot get permission to knock it down. So it mysteriously burns down instead.

    • @Creedmc85
      @Creedmc85 3 года назад

      I remember someone flew a drone over and you could see lots of roof tiles were taken off and stacked up, it was obviously done to allow the weather in to help speed up the deterioration of the place. Low and behold they have no other option but to pull down what they can and put nice new accommodation there. Where you see the new looking flats in the video, that used to be a old hotel called the Worcestershire, that was pulled down and as you can see flats were put there. Soon there will only be the château left but again that's closed down recently so who knows what will happen there.

Simply put, there is actually no technical difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist in how they work; “chiropodist” and “chiropody” are the outdated terms for doctors that specialize in foot problems.
