*Frankly, the effect of collapse of USSR was bad for India. If ussr satyed, Afghanistan situation wouldnt be like this. No Armenia Azerbqijan war. No Turkish facism under Erdogan, and their involvement in religion based geopolitics. Central Asia under USSR was a good thing for all parties. Look at the conflict around the world!*

Two Biggest reasons were 1979 Soviet Afghan war and the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Moscow pumped lot's of money in Afghanistan during Brezhnev era, by the time Gorbachev took over USSR's economy had a negative growth, US under Ronald Reagan succeeded in isolating Moscow with sanctions and trade embargoes. Eventually Gorbachev tried to save but he in his interview said it couldn't have survived without being an empire, personally he successfully avoided a civil war within the republics, imagine a civil strife in a country armed to brim with nuclear weapons.

Please tell us, if you may, on Lal Bahadur Shastri’s sudden demise during his visit to Tashkent in USSR in 1966. And then, Indira Gandhi’s claim to govt with Communist’s support in India! The deal communists made with her for such support.

#AskAbhijit Sir, do you think the Indian government should involve more private players in the defense technology manufacturing industry (like the US, Israel and France for example) ? Do you think it will improve the defense infrastructure and bolster India's influence elsewhere (maybe even sell weapons instead of just buying it from outside to boost the economy)?

I don't know how possible this is but it definitely is irrelevant. You need to understand that India is one of the most populated and the most diverse nation. Many of our government reforms and even the constitution is mainly borrowed from other nations which at that point of time were far superior to India both in terms of economy and global military position. This is why you see an ambiguous mix of democratic and socialist reforms in our Indian laws.
In my opinion, breakup of so e Indian states into independent states is more likely to happen rather than fusion of neighboring nations. Not that I wish something like this happens.

#AskAbhijit Hi sir, Do you think Turkey might be aiming to deploy their forces in Afghanistan anytime soon? With logistical support from Pakistan? There are anti-Pakistan/U.S./& Russian sentiments amongst the local warlords and other Taliban cadre but they could consider the Turk as a friend and they also share same Islamic ideologies. This will also benefit the Chinese as they might be able to provide security to future Chinese projects. China wouldn't have to deploy its own troops anymore.
