Grace is a legend here in San Diego. We all have the choice to go to the cheap retailer where you are being fitted by some very young and inexperienced people. And as an adult non professional I got looked at as an amateur who has no business picking up pointe shoes. But then there is Dancer's Choice, where all dancers are welcome without judgement. And we are so glad you have stayed. During the worst of the lock down times, your store was the one place we still went, because ballet carried our girls through it all. Thank you for your dedication and innovation and never giving up on all dancers.
wait STOP IT. i’ve chronically been so difficult to fit because i have super contradictory feet, but i happened to make a fitting appt with grace like two weeks ago. i kid you not within less than 5 mins of looking at my feet and hearing my explanation, she fit me in probably the best fit shoes i’ve worn thus far. she was amazing 😭
Whaaaat???? I can't believe I found this...Grace fit MY point shoes in 2004 when I was 12!!!! I used to dance at Ballet Conservatory with Miss Marie and Miss Julie. I'm so glad you guys are doing so well!!! God bless!
They both know so much! I've been fitted by both of them and found my great shoes for the rest of my past dancing days. It was very much a pleasure. Grace stayed open late to help me with my shoes cause I have having so many issues and I really appreciate both of them.
Thank you, Josephine, for sharing your mother with us; thank you so much, Grace, for everything you've done for your daughter, the dance community, and all of us who watch this channel.
Wow….this is your mother! Years ago She fit my sister for her first pointe shoes….I was just there in the background, but I remember that she was the nicest, most patient, knowledgeable and professional fitter ever…my sister loved her, we all loved her…She made her first experience so memorable….Thank you!
When she said that she never took a leo from her mom's shop I thought about the huge bowl of lollipops my mom had in her office and how I was never allowed to take one
@@ThePointeShop I had the same attitude when my mom was selling candy. I’d eat the broken ones she couldn’t sell, but I refused to touch anything sellable.

Grace was the first good fitter I went to and it made a tremendous difference in my adult pointe journey. Her tights are my favorite and I have like 20 pairs of them! Also so wonderful to see what a healthy and supportive relationship you two have :)
You two are just the most amazing people! I recently started shopping at Dancer’s Choice and every single time Grace is there to provide assistance and offer her advice. I always look forward to my visits at Dancer’ Choice not only for the pointe shoes and leotards, but for Grace’s warm welcomes. Everything about this store is what a dancer dreams of! Walking through Dancer’s Choice is the equivalent to prancing through wonderland! So thank you Grace and Josephine for everything you do for us dancers!! ❤️
Your Mom is just so dang precious. Traveling to fit shoes with teachers present is a genius idea. You learned that work ethic from your mom just like I did from my mom.
Mrs. Grace is a hero, and her attitude makes me think of my mom who passed of cancer. Always loving, always supporting. Failing at something should be a positive lesson. Not a shameful thing.
I did NOT expect this story to be so beautiful and moving and inspiring and encouraging and all the other stuff it was. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for sharing your story. THANK YOU!
this was just the message I needed to hear today - I know nothing about Ballet, or Pointe, i love watching you videos because its a whole new world to me, and you are so sweet and positive. Life has been serving me some real funky moments recently and I have been quite depressed. The story of your mum, and you, really gave me some hopeful inspiration and really made me feel like I can do anything :) Thank you so so much for sharing
What a beautiful testament to your Mum. I’m not a dancer, but I’m fascinated by your world. Looks like you are both creative, hardworking business women with big hearts ❤️
I grew up in Southern California (714 in the house!) and this really touches me in a huge way. The one thing a lot of people don't realize is how big the Asian community is, but how many of us own our own businesses that became staples of our communities. It is wonderful to see two generations of strong women continuing this legacy. I loved ballet as a kid, and still love it today. I enjoy your channel because it takes me back to those days, and gives me a glimpse of home even though I'm very far away now.
You have a very intelligent and loving mom just like me. I always said that if every child had a mom like mine, we would have a beautiful world. My mom always supported, and supports me in everything I have ever done. She’s always by biggest supporter, not only in my successes, but there to help me through the failures. She always helps me realize that everything has a lesson to be learned. And no matter what I know she is always there with support and love.
😭😭😭 That is so beautiful 🥹 I have an awful relationship with my mum (and my dad’s worse) so this really warms my heart. I’m so happy for you ❤️ Even though it’s hard for me to imagine what that’s like I’m very thankful that it’s possible and real
Your Mom sounds amazing! These stories about small business owners in Asian American communities are so common and often unheard. Thank you for sharing hers!

Your mum is a complete treasure. What I liked the best is the personal touch. It is about people and not just products. Internet shopping is a cold and lonely place and does not compare to getting a 'hi' or a smile from another person. You are both beautiful women in so many ways...keep up the good work 😊❤
You two melted my heart. Bless you both! I have recently been fit for my first pair of pointe shoes. I love watching pointe shoe fitting videos since my first fitting here in South Africa. Jojo, you teach me a lot, just as much as my ballet teachers do. Thanks for making these videos and thank you to your mother for making you and for grooming you into a wonderful fitter for dancers around the world.
Its so sweet. In tears. I wish my parents were any where near supporting me like this. Best luck to you guys! Wish you the fastest recovery from the pandemic 🍀🌹
It’s lovely to hear your Mum’s story and how closely she is a part of your story. What a great examples of tenacity and success. Thank you for inviting us in! X
Gosh this made me well up with tears so many times! Thank you for sharing her story. Her shop featured in this video looked amazing. I worked in a dance store when I was in my twenties and learned how to fit pointe shoes. I really enjoyed learning about fitting and wished I had a more in depth knowledge than what I did then. There is a science behind fitting well for each individual dancer. Its wonderful that you honored your Mom's dedication and legacy in her community and to you! Bravo.
I found this just by accident but I have to tell you how inspirational you and your mother are. And how absolutely adorable you are when you do the video reviews.
This had me in tears. You two have such a beautiful relationship. I don’t even dance!! But your personality just keeps me coming back to this channel. You and your mom share a special charisma I think 💖
Aw, your Mother is so cute! And now we know where your talent comes from! Now I am just wondering which shoes you were fit with just now. The pair of you are so great together-and optimistic.
