wait STOP IT. i’ve chronically been so difficult to fit because i have super contradictory feet, but i happened to make a fitting appt with grace like two weeks ago. i kid you not within less than 5 mins of looking at my feet and hearing my explanation, she fit me in probably the best fit shoes i’ve worn thus far. she was amazing 😭
Grace is a legend here in San Diego. We all have the choice to go to the cheap retailer where you are being fitted by some very young and inexperienced people. And as an adult non professional I got looked at as an amateur who has no business picking up pointe shoes.
But then there is Dancer's Choice, where all dancers are welcome without judgement. And we are so glad you have stayed. During the worst of the lock down times, your store was the one place we still went, because ballet carried our girls through it all. Thank you for your dedication and innovation and never giving up on all dancers.

Whaaaat???? I can't believe I found this...Grace fit MY point shoes in 2004 when I was 12!!!! I used to dance at Ballet Conservatory with Miss Marie and Miss Julie. I'm so glad you guys are doing so well!!! God bless!

They both know so much! I've been fitted by both of them and found my great shoes for the rest of my past dancing days. It was very much a pleasure. Grace stayed open late to help me with my shoes cause I have having so many issues and I really appreciate both of them.

My mom always tried to give me things from her store. I refused to take it because I wanted my mom to sell it instead.
@@ThePointeShop I had the same attitude when my mom was selling candy. I’d eat the broken ones she couldn’t sell, but I refused to touch anything sellable.
@@ThePointeShop That's like me with my dad, he's an electric engineer so he always offered to put pretty LED lights in my room (Cuz I'm scared of the dark) but I always said no so he could sell them

My mom always supported, and supports me in everything I have ever done. She’s always by biggest supporter, not only in my successes, but there to help me through the failures. She always helps me realize that everything has a lesson to be learned. And no matter what I know she is always there with support and love.

Grace was the first good fitter I went to and it made a tremendous difference in my adult pointe journey. Her tights are my favorite and I have like 20 pairs of them! Also so wonderful to see what a healthy and supportive relationship you two have :)
Your Mom is just so dang precious. Traveling to fit shoes with teachers present is a genius idea. You learned that work ethic from your mom just like I did from my mom.

Years ago She fit my sister for her first pointe shoes….I was just there in the background, but I remember that she was the nicest, most patient, knowledgeable and professional fitter ever…my sister loved her, we all loved her…She made her first experience so memorable….Thank you!
Mrs. Grace is a hero, and her attitude makes me think of my mom who passed of cancer. Always loving, always supporting. Failing at something should be a positive lesson. Not a shameful thing.

I grew up in Southern California (714 in the house!) and this really touches me in a huge way. The one thing a lot of people don't realize is how big the Asian community is, but how many of us own our own businesses that became staples of our communities. It is wonderful to see two generations of strong women continuing this legacy. I loved ballet as a kid, and still love it today. I enjoy your channel because it takes me back to those days, and gives me a glimpse of home even though I'm very far away now.

In my city (in italy) nobody does pointe shoes fittings. I am about to start ballet at 25 after not dancing for 11 years. I am so scared of the day (if that day ever comes) I will have to buy pointe shoes... Thank you for the service you are providing! ♥

Gosh this made me well up with tears so many times! Thank you for sharing her story. Her shop featured in this video looked amazing. I worked in a dance store when I was in my twenties and learned how to fit pointe shoes. I really enjoyed learning about fitting and wished I had a more in depth knowledge than what I did then. There is a science behind fitting well for each individual dancer. Its wonderful that you honored your Mom's dedication and legacy in her community and to you! Bravo.

This was really beautiful. Randomly stumbled on your channel - not a dancer in any way and I am in utter awe of ballerinas (I was born with clubbed feet so I cannot physically go on pointe, it's actually fascinating to me that people can lol). Anyway, this was a lovely tribute to a hard working woman who seems to really care about her community.
First off, I’m just a farmer. I have no talent for ballet nor have I ever seen one in person. That said the arts have always been very important in my family. My dads side is native and we are from OK. Natives love seeing other natives so we always followed the careers of Maria and Marjorie Tallchief. I remember watching firebird on PBS with my dad and we have always loved ballet ever since.
my dad always encourgaed me with anything i wanted to do i failed at every thing but my love for him i miss him so much dont have anyone now to envourage me miss that so much
