Thank you!! Obviously there are a lot of different scenarios that could happen from this position, but this is a simple approach that I like to start with from here. I will probably show some more advanced ones down the road
@@staysafemartialarts we call it double fake. As you pointed out, you can't press their hands up, but we "attempt" it - fake pushing up, getting them to push down. As they do that we shoot arms straight above our head putting them in same position as if you'd bucked them. Then, fake bucking on 45 degree to one side (again getting opponent lean bodyweight in that direction) then buck & roll the other way. Rolling with them and on top. Also, trapping their foot with your foot as you demonstrated. A couple knees to the groin, pin their biceps as you slide back and up.
What do you do if you aren't physically strong enough to flip them over? Like say he is a lot heavier than you? Thanks so much, this was super well explained and informative
Your technique has to be perfect. Sucks to hear but that is the truth. If someone is bigger or stronger, your strength will not help you much so you have to nail the technique. I will be doing an updated video on this soon!
Author here. Can you do a video on trying to escape from this except where the defender is face down instead of face up? I didn’t see one in the self defense playlist at the time of asking.
🤔That’ll work if the person underneath is built strong but if it’s a big person on top of a tiny person which normally happens then the tiny person should be focused on getting their knees to reach their opponent stomach area then the one on ground should have their legs now above their opponent hip area so they’ll have more control to break free using their strongest part of body which is legs. And from that position the greatest goal will be to be able to put opponent in chokehold with your legs (right leg around left side of their neck and left leg underneath their right armpit then connect your feet together then now you could turn them over. This is a good method cause if you have a big person on top of your stomach it could hinder your breathing which could cause you to panic and passout so gotta get them legs above their hips👍🏽
My current bf does this to me when we fight irl n he does it so I can’t escape and he can get down into my face and scream and says and does horrible things , we’re forced to meet on Friday and if this happens I’m gonna use this so thank you 💙
@@lightfrega4106 it went horrible to say the least and I left with many more bruises than usual and he’s started to choke me until I’m near passing out just so I get scared , it’s just getting worse n worse.
I like how simple and applicable this drill is. Not overly complicated - something a person could practice easily

"goddamn, you are sweaty, man" 💀💀
LMFAOOO THAT COULD MEAN ONE OF TWO THINGS
I’ve had ex boyfriends do this to me and it a horrible experience, thanks for the technique 👍
sorry to hear that!

Thank you 🙏🏻 now I’ll know when to be prepared
Excellent advice. Just gotta stay cool and remember the moves.

Very cool. We teach a different escape from that hold. But I've never seen that approach. Like having options. Thanks!
Thanks! What is your approach?

@@StephenSmith-if3zj ah yes a slight variation, but still effective
Thank you so much for the video! It was very helpful.
We are training hip thrusts with this one 🗣🗣
I want to see it reversed with the instructor, who is much bigger, doing the pinning. The smaller guy isn’t going to be able to do any of that.

Brilliant 👍
Like a game a chess literally
Seeing so many ways to advance on your next move
Exactly
@@staysafemartialarts thank you for this
As someone who wrestled for 10 years the best way to learn how to escape this is to just do the new wrestling
So the real question is how do you escape when pinned down AND being tickled?? 😬
Speaking from experience, beg for mercy 🥲
Great tutorial.

I tried this with my much bigger friend on top and couldn’t get my elbows down or my hips up lol I’m pretty small compared to him
plan to update this video with a bigger person attacking

This is really good for Brazilian jujitsu as well
exactly
What if they're pushing their bodyweight directly onto your torso though? Like if they have their knee on your solar plexus?
That happened to me a few days ago 😢 I couldn’t breathe and I nearly passed out
Thanks, this worked really well for me and my bf in the bedroom
LMAO😭😭😭😭
bro did not get the message 😂
I'm too gay for this chicanery.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING
Try that against a big dude
I have and it works
What ifnthe person ontop is heavy enough??
Still can work but your technique has to be near perfect
