How to bypass Canons' low ink warning after refilling on Canon ink-jet printers.

- This video will walk you through how to bypass Canons' low ink warning on their ink-jet printers. This is helpful after you have had your cartridges refilled.
Warning: Do not do this if your cartridge(s) has run out of ink, as you will damage the printhead on the cartridge or the one built into the printer.

THANKS so much. it indeed worked, I did have some trouble initially with the stop button itself since it was jammed/dirty as it had not been used for a long time, but some squiggly/multiple push also solved that issue and I was able to hold the stop button for 5 secs and it did the trick.

Thank you! Changed my chartige after E16 error. My printer did not realize this and shows still the same error. Holding that button worked for me. I had to push "OK" once after that blinking.

Thanks I couldn't get it to work cause I was trying to hold down the cancel button without a active print job waiting to print. none of the other instructions I have seen tell you to try print first and then hold the button, they all just say hold the cancel button for 5 seconds and it will reset.
Just did it & it didn't work on my Canon printer. I'm not paying their outrageous prices; it's criminal what they charge for ink cartridges.

Thanks. I actually just needed to use the scanner of my TR7520. The funny thing is, I didn't get the warning about needing to refill the ink cartridge until I had already selected the scan function, and since there's not an obvious way to bypass it, it looks like Canon is intentionally trying to make people think they need to purchase ink cartridges to access what should be the completely unrelated scanner. That's pretty scummy.

Hello there, does this mean that the printer will lose the ability to detect ink levels forever, or does it reset when you put in a new ink cartridge? Also, if I follow the steps and get it to stop detecting the remanufactured cartridge, is there a way to reverse the process? Thank you.

To clarify, the temporary bypass the low ink warning and does not permanently disable the printer's ability to detect ink levels. It only overrides the low ink warning for the current cartridge, allowing you to continue printing until you replace it with a new one. Once a new cartridge is installed, the printer will regain its ability to detect and display accurate ink levels.
Regarding remanufactured cartridges, bypassing the low ink warning should not affect the printer's ability to detect them. The bypass process is independent of cartridge type, and it should work seamlessly with both remanufactured and OEM cartridges. If you encounter any error messages when using remanufactured or OEM cartridges, we recommend referring to the printer's manual for specific error code troubleshooting steps.

Okay I have an update so the printer the Canon TS 3522 I believe its 275 cartridge it's printing color but it's not printing all black that's crazy is there any way to fix this
If your printer isn’t printing black, try running a few printhead cleanings. Assuming there’s still ink in the cartridge, this should get things going again. You might need to repeat the process two or three times.

Cleaning/Prinhead Cleaning. From your computer go to: Start, then
click on Settings/Control Panel.-> Printers and Faxes (On Windows Vista,
select Printer under Hardware and Sound)-> Right-click on your printer,
and click on Properties.-> Select the Maintenance / Service tab, then se-
lect Print Head Cleaning.

I can't get this to work on my Pixma MX490

Didn't work for me on TC3100. Lights just came back on again.

Well, as I said, I held the button down about 10 seconds and released and the ink warning lights came back on. I was getting an error message 06. I looked on the Canon error chart and it skipped from 05 to 07, which I thought quite unhelpful. My printer is a different model to yours so may have different behaviour. Strange thing is though, I tried printing again sometime later and didn't get an error message this time and it printed OK with the lights still on, which in effect has solved the problem. I just checked again and the lights are no longer displaying. Damn machines, harder to understand than a woman. @@printerrefillers9933

Canon are forcing purchases of expensive replacement cartridges, when in actual fact you can purchase refill inks for a fraction of the cost. Only Canon has figured out how they can stop people from doing this, and that’s by inserting a chip into the cartridge, which the printer remembers, so you have to literally replace the whole cartridge so then the printer will recognise “oh it’s a different one” and start printing. So even if your ink cartridge is full, it will still give you an error message stating replace black ink cartridge and it will refuse to print. In the new models, this can’t be overriden, like the previous models could be by pressing the stop button for 10.
this is sneaky thieving thinking by canon, with the ulterior intention being, to overcharge customers with ink. It’s blatant theft.
I recommend Epson because they have refillable cartridges.
Thank you for your comment. We are not currently aware of any Canon ink-jet cartridges that cannot be refilled or have the low ink warnings bypassed. As for Epson, most of the newer models are not refillable due to the chip, which must be reset or replaced to work, which is not always possible. Epson also aggressively pushes firmware updates to stop any replacement chips from working.
This is how mine is right now. I'm gonna get a new one and just keep it from going less than half and see how that goes
