    Love the Mediterranean way of eating! I’ll never say I’m not eating anymore sweets. Just have less and less often. I can’t justify drinking dairy milk because of the cruelty to the animals. We shouldn’t be drinking the nourishment intended for their own babies. Love your videos!!! ❤

      Like you I don’t think I can stop eating desserts and sweets, but I am cutting back and eating better. It all helps!

Having said that I am super interested in nutrition and try to include high quality organic foods as much as possible.     that was a pleasure to watch! She is very open minded (rare for a nutritionist) and positive. doesn't condemn certain food groups or habits, more of a what works for someone, might not work for someone else or in a different situation or circumstance vs saying `this is bad por good period`.. love her approach. thank you for sharing!

    Thank you Barbara & Claire. I feel like your guest had a good balanced theory on overall nutrition. However, what was overlooked was the issue with ingesting GMO Foods that are TOXIC because of Glyphosate used in standard agricultural farming. Another topic I would like addressed is Lectins. I hear that Dr. Gundry is always talking about this. I really don't know all the details on it, but I would like to hear more about this.

    I read a book many years ago called "Eat Right for your Blood Type" which suggests your blood type links you back to your ancient ancestors and what foods were available in the region where they lived, it's really an interesting hypothesis..for example, blood type 0 would be meat eaters and much less grain, blood type A were more vegetarians and much less fats..i believe that factors in why some do well on low carb and others do not..balance, i believe is most sensible as well as portion control.

    Fasting is amazing, plant based, clean food, I have lost weight I could not shift and once in a while, I eat what I fancy that day, its all about what suits you and common sense .

    This was great and I'm doing about the same thing you are. Fresh, home-cooked meals (which is tricky for this gal) but I look and feel better for it. I picked up the book too! I'd love to hear more on this topic, so keep 'em coming!

    Loved this interview! Anything geared toward nutrition I find fascinating. Thank you for doing it.
    I have followed a vegan diet since September, 2019, after having been pescatarian most of my adult life. After ditching dairy and fatty processed food the change in the way I feel and my health has been noting short of spectacular (to me). I was able to go off meds for hypothyroidism and manage achy joints m/arthritis (strong family history). I realize this may not work for everyone, but whenever I “fall off the wagon” and indulge in cheese/dairy, I feel unwell for several days. I don’t see myself ever reverting to my former diet (which was really deemed pretty “healthy” by most standards). I just turned 58 and I feel great!

    Great interview! That last question was excellent. One thing people don't seem to pay enough attention to is how does eating this way (whatever way it is) make ME feel? I feel like I've been on every (fad) diet and it's usually all about the results rather than feeling decent on the journey. If that makes sense. Barbara seems like such a lovely person!

    Im concerned about frailty in my 70's, whether I am getting enough nutrients. Eat mostly plantbase foods. Little diary and fatty meats. Have lots of energy and gets lots of vitamin D3. Labs are normal but skin seems to be getting wrinkles, and soft, muscles are diminishing. Do I need to eat more protein and strength training to maintain. I walk 2 miles daily and 1 hour Zumba dance 3 days a week.
    Thinking of gaining weight to help with muscle strength. Now 105lbs n 5 ft 2inches.
    What do you think?

    Great interview as always, Clare 🙂 I LOVE the book you recommended, it's very motivating. Makes me want to have a glucose monitor on my arm, that will make me put down the chocolate after the first bite!! I eat mostly vegan, because i find it hard to digest meat. It seems to work for me, but I'd like to include more 'good for your skin' foods like wild salmon etc. I probably will during the summer. I can tolerate small amounts and I feel I need the good fats. Thank u for sharing..

    I’m someone in my sixties, lifting weights in the gym three times a week. I’ve cut out some additional sugar from my diet, but I need my Whole milk. Organic when available at the local supermarket.

      I can't see Barbara having a problem with whole milk! Lots of good nutrients there. Studies suggest that, despite their saturated fat content, dairy foods like milk, cheese and yoghurt have a neutral or even positive effect. As Barbara says, it's all about balance!

    Hi, I’m really enjoying your channel but must take issue with something in this interview: if human health is compromised by animal fat therefore making us dependant of processed vegetable oils, how did the species survive this long? There is no way a caveman, or even someone 300 yrs ago could have made processed veg/seed oils. It is a a 13 step process starting with hexane and ending with deodorizers (because the oil has gone rancid in the processing). Heck, even today, IF (big IF) you could get the ingredients, no one could make it on their own. Should we really be consuming that? Not me!

      Hi Debra. Glad you enjoy the channel and thanks for sharing your perspective. I thought Barbara took a balanced view in advocating a more Mediterranean type of diet, but she also doesn’t suggest cutting out animal fat - just watching how much we consume.

    im half way through and im not sure what this scientist is saying... i feel like she keeps saying, find what works for you... but that is what we r tuning in for.. we don't know what to do! low carb? low calorie? more fruits and vegetables? cave man diet?

      Her message is that particular regimes where you cut out major food groups are hard to sustain and limit socialising opportunities. She talks about eating a varied diet with lots of plant based nutrients, eating whole grains, high quality fat sources which she names, limiting sugar etc. I found her sensible and balanced approach reassuring. Especially where she says we need to avoid focusing on calories in our older years and instead focus on quality of nutrients.
