    Lol, I'm 80 in a couple of months and lifting weights at the gym. Progressing to some pretty heavy weights and eating carnivore. Lost quite a bit of weight and still losing. Health issues are starting to go away. My son is my trainer and we work out together. Started 3 months ago and loving it.

    A problem is that, as a society, we have established norms for age, gender, vocation, etc. Because of these norms, people act according to them - rather than according to their ability. We choose to slow down as we age because we think we should and then experience symptoms of that slowing down but we call it aging and just accept it. Our bodies are miraculous - they respond quickly to how we treat them. Give your body good food, exercise, positive thoughts, enriching activities and your body will give you good health and an active life into VERY old age.

    • @kimberlyf4888
      @kimberlyf4888 Месяц назад +4

      I agree! Your body adapts to the environment - if it senses that it needs to use its muscles, it will. On the other hand, if there is the signal that it doesn't need to do something, it will conserve energy.

    What an inspiration!
    I’m 45. I started going to the gym in my late 30s, and fell in love with being active. At the age of 40, I had a better physique than I had when I was overweight in my teens. Tonnes of energy.
    Then around the age of 43, I noticed that what I was doing fitness and food wise wasn’t working anymore which was discouraging. Then, I came across the age talk and witness women my age give up on fitness and start eating unhealthy because they don’t see the point since they are in perimenopause.
    But then one day I snapped out of it when I discovered women in their 50s and older looking amazing and showing what’s possible. I’m so glad!
    It took me ages to test what works best for me. It took lots of adjustments and changes. It was worth it. I feel amazing.
    Whoever reads this, please don’t give up on yourself, and if you want to start training with weights I cannot recommend Caroline Girvan’s trainings highly enough on RUclips for free or on her app.
    Good luck! :)

      That's the first thing I thought too. I wonder if she's taking supplements or hormones too. You can't get in shape like that with 45 min light workouts nor diet alone. I'm way younger than her & it's hard to build muscle when your over 40.

      @@zenawarrior7442I got toned and had great muscle definition at 55 by doing BodyPump three times a week. They were 45 minute classes with stretching/cool down afterwards. Plus I ate healthy, and didn’t drink or drink soda. Also, when I did BodyPump, most women used heavier weights than me. I even did a little bit of yoga, step aerobics, running, and walking. I took no steroids or anything like that. I will never workout in a workout room again. My BodyPump classes were taught in a dance room. Because of Covid, I bought my own bar and weights from Les Mills, and started doing BodyPump at home. I also workout a lot with CDornerFitness. Her channel is great. I love working out at home.

    72 Always worked out since I was in my early 30s. Luckily never been overweight and pretty much eat what I like but definitely within reason. I try to eat healthy but don't skimp if I want some desert a couple of times a week. Probably too many carbs but oh well. Gotta love pasta and rice but always brown rice now. I still ride horses and started doing a bit more weight training online as I don't go to the gym. I use free weights at home. Not that heavy but I do have some muscle. I love HIIT the most. I also line dance 3-4 times per week for 2-3 hours. People get a shock when they know my age. I'd never have surgery and have line around my eyes but my skin is pretty good with no lines on my cheeks. I'm very blessed! Best wishes to you Renee. You're truly remarkable and look totally amazing!

I just signed up for Pilates and start Monday. I want to be strong again and be able to dance with mu husband again. He is 20 years younger. I understand what you say about our actions and not our age. I will follow Renee now for inspiration 🎉thank you. What incredible timing for me.

    Yes, progressive overload is very definitely the way to go. Mix it up a bit too.. It takes a good long while to build muscle after 40.. so dont be in a hurry.. lift safe/lift smart! The last thing you need or want is an injury to a joint or two.. you dont want set backs.

Great interview, except I don't agree with the eating regime, what she eats is fine, but for some of us into fasting and keto eating 5 times a day is not going to work. Fasting has been life saver for me under the guidance of a real doctor that has done the research and knows what she's doing.

Thank you Clare for introducing us to Renee (a fellow Texan!🤠) In my 60s, have always worked out, also pescatarian, use dumbbells at home (I see I need to work towards increasing the weights gradually). In June, I discovered the work of Dr. Casey Means (metabolic health) and Dr. Gabrielle Lyons (skeletal muscle integrity) so it was a revelation that I am not consuming enough protein (need at least 30g per meal - wow) so have made some diet adjustments. We CAN get better as we age and Renee is a vibrant role model!💖
