I appreciate that Jess said the oversized look isn’t for everybody. I am a petite 5ft 1in and oversized add visual weight to my small frame. I look wider not taller. I think the oversized look will look dated in a couple of years.
Thank you for this interview. I've always liked FashionStyleEdit. So good to hear Jessica doesn't follow fashion rules. Many times I put down a navy blue and black combination, just because of that rule. Now I'm going to confidently wear them. ❤
The biggest thing to take from this conversation is simply wear what actually looks good on you. Not what works on someone with a totally different body shape or lifestyle. Tucked shirts, wide leg pants and midi or maxi just make my shape look dumpy and sad but can look stunning on the right person. I am hoping eventually society can just agree we wear what we really want to and what makes us personally happy, not what is 'in' for the season. Thanks for allowing us to listen to you lovely and positive conversation!
Spot on 😁. I can't wear high waisted jeans or pants , I have a short torso and it looks like my pants are sitting under my boobs 😂😂😂😂 I also don't like anything figure hugging, so no thanks 😊
Loved this ❤ I'm definitely going to be looking out for an over-sized blazer this year. Like you, mine are all fitted. It looks really cool, thanks for the links. x
My experience with Ugg boots was in Australia wear they were worn as house slippers during winter when indoor heating is less than adequate. You asked the best questions! Thank you ❤
Wow. Why is it okay to call someone a pipe cleaner referring to their weight and shape? Can you imagine the outrage if someone used derogatory language describing the opposite body type?
We all want to be thin, no one tried to be fat. I'm fat. There's a difference. I wish someone would call me a pipe cleaner. That will never happen. She's right. Everything IS made for thin people. Everything looks good on thin people. I'm chubby, nothing looks great.
Hi Sandra. I was planning to cover my full routine again later in the year tho it hasn't changed much from last time. In the video description you'll find a link to a page where I set out my skincare routine and the products I use and I keep that one up to date. I've also linked to the supplements I take : )
IMO, you look really good in your fitted blazer! Have you tried it with a nice (fitted) t-shirt in a good fabric? Tread carefully with oversized-look jackets/blazers and baggy trousers which are in style (and look great on Jess) but, you seem to be quite small and you don't want to be swallowed up by your clothes.
Thank you! I often just keep that blazer as my ‘good one’ for going out so I wear it with a blouse but I should start wearing it more often with a T-shirt as you say ❤️
{Sigh} I can't wear ANY of your blazers! Honey, I'm a 34DD and only 5'3" tall. "Loose" on me translates instantly into "Jabba the Hutt" I look huge and hugely misshapen. I'm already long in the torso, and I'm SERIOUSLY disproportionate with a long blazer on. I have to stick to short boxy jackets (think Chanel) and knit jackets. For casual coats I go for Moto jackets and waist-length bomber jackets. It all comes together again for me with mid-calf length coats for truly cold weather, but anything that ends lower than hip-bone all the way down to knee length is a disaster. The slightly oversized, vaguely androgynous look that is so wonderful on you is a disaster on me!
Love you both! I’m a fair blonde / light spring / clear colors without black or gray in them. I’m very fair and low contrast skin/hair. Black really does not suit me as I age - and I avoid light and dark gray. Very happy with camel, pecan, olive/khaki/ emerald green/ cobalt blue/ rust/ bright fire-y red and ivory. These are game changing colors for me and I will never wear black next to my face now. Unless maybe I had a fake tan on- but that is rare. Thanks for the interview!
I have a very pale, spring friend with almost white blond hair. She looks great in spring colors but prefers black because she gets comments on her hair. I think people comment on her hair because her skin looks terrible, sallow and a bit sick.
I found my personal style with the Kibbe body system and colors with seasonal color analysis. I do not wear anything she suggests such as blazers unless they are knitted. I do not like the stripes of the Parisian style and the ballet flats hurt my wider feet as a Kibbe soft classic. Black/white t shirts over power my true autumn coloring which is very warm. I stopped following her and became my own stylist. She’s giving advice for her own body type. Kibbe helps you find what works for you personally.

Great to have you as a new subscriber! I’m not sure where Jess bought her shirt but I know she’s a fan of Cos and I know they do a lot of oversized shirts like that so might be a good place to start.
many of the ladies peddling this look are indeed momsy. I’m not sure I would call it minimalist but I would call it samey. The French “ look” is not a stripey top, peddle pushers, flats and sunglasses. It’s a whole different caché and way of being which Influencers rarely achieve through their formulaic dressing. I think if I had a 17 yr old son then maybe this is exactly how I would dress at that stage of my life, nothing wrong with that but I do not see it as elevated or classy dressing because it lacks originality, ignores the female form and worse of all it’s not even fun. I dress the way I dress because I am me and no-one else dresses like me and nor could I define the formula but I do know that I like it and that really is good enough for me. If we ourselves like the way we are dressed and the way it makes us look in our own eye then that in itself imbues us with a confidence and ease of being that makes what we are wearing pale into insignificance and we become the subject of our presence not our clothes.
I've come to believe that black is one of my favorite colors, on all skin tones! It is so elegant, and classy, even If you mean for it to be casual, it's still great on everyone, of any age! I hate the oversized look, it looks terrible on me anyway, Crocs, Uggs & silky PJs as an outfit, ugh, NO. Visors are a necessity, not a fashion statement. Who cares if they're fashionable or not!
The problem I have is that this minimalist style dressing or the French look can also look a bit momsy and old fashion. A trench coat with my height and weight makes me look older.

Haha yes! I keep buying blazers over the years and every time I pull one out of my closet I think “ boring, shapeless, I can do better than this!” So it never fails that in the closet is as far as they get!
Clare, I love you and your channel. But why is every “stylist” thin and have a small or regular bust - they naturally look good in almost everything. As a number of others posted, most of her recommendations do not work for busty or slightly heavier people. Would love to see tips for other body types besides thin and regular bust line. My comments are not meant as a criticism but as my own frustration as a 60 big busted, slightly overweight person who cannot figure out what to wear. Thanks for all you do.
I hear you. Did you see my interview with Melissa Murrell? She is the queen of how to flatter curves. She gives great advice here.. How to flatter your body shape w/ styling queen Melissa Murrell ruclips.net/video/DmMBSPlZWD0/видео.html
The small proportion of women who can actually pull off a long, oversized blazer is small. If you are 5’4” or shorter… if you have a bust line of any noticeable size, if you are somewhat overweight, have short legs or heaven forbid all four.. you will look like a hobbit or just proportionally off - not how anyone wants to look.. but if you are 5’6” and up, small busted and thin with longer legs… the oversized blazer will probably work. A tiny % of smaller women may be able to do it but tiny %. Btw.. I think it’s a great look if you can pull it off.
just started this video... i hope she isn't going to just give looks for real thin woman. im not fat, but my BMI is on the upper end of the green for sure!!
Yes I feel most advice only works for a very slim build, not me a curvy shape - I couldn’t dream of sizing up in a jacket , would look like a tent on me. Also Ugg boots ( I’m Aussie) really are an at home item, they were never meant to be to go out in, don’t throw them out, wear them in
