This was extremely helpful! I’m really siked because I just ordered 2 pairs of Strikes, one being the Interval Transit I believe and from what you’re saying it sounds like they will be a huge improvement on the Vans Rapidwelds which I absolutely loved besides their durability which made them pretty worthless!
Rn Adidas Terrex "Boat shoes" are all the rage... At least here in the states but I've been looking to find some of the new balance shoes. Athletes like George Mcowan say they're the best they've ever worn
Yeah. The price is steep unfortunately. That seems to be the trend right now, if you look at the prices of the Storror 10s, the Farang shoe, and the Jiyo 2's, they are all up there in price as well. Makes you appreciate the lower prices of Ollos, KO's, and New Balance.
I haven't bought a pair to try out yet. They are not easily available in the US. But they look good. Probably similar to the Reebok Royal Ultras, Reebok Classic Nylons, and Reebok Royal Classic Joggers II. All of these are good shoes. They tend to be more padded, although the Joggers have the least padding out of the group.
Yes. Unfortunately the US site was confusing and it was easier to post the UK link. However, if you look on Amazon or Ebay, they are available in the US. Brand new from Adidas, they can be up to $130 shoes. I got a pair on Ebay that were shipped internationally, but they were only $65 from a supplier in Greece.
Great question. The Ultimate 81s are Matthew's favorite shoe. I (Andrew) am convinced that if I can get him into a pair of the Intervals that fit him correctly (He's tried on a pair that are much too big) there will be no going back. It is a hefty price hike. But you get what you pay for. They are easily the highest quality shoes that I've trained it. They are arguably more durable than the 81s. The grip is (I think) better. The toe box is wider and the tongue has this elastic mesh that cradles the arch of your foot and is amazingly comfortable. I am very impressed with the Interval Knits. If you want to save $10? I think the Chill Pill Transits are $119 instead of $129. They are very similar except that the upper on the toe is some kind of leather instead of kevlar mesh on the Transits. AKA equally good.
I miss the K Swiss Ariake's. They came out during parkour's heyday but they stopped making them when all the trendies left and moved onto the next internet sensation.
They are hard to find from Reebok in the US. They seem to be readily available in Europe. But I was able to buy them on both Amazon and Ebay. Probably Zappos as well. The all black and white were much more expensive, but if you don't care about colour you can find them for around $70.
Dude crackin video, I actually just reviewed the Vans Ultra Rapidweld for parkour 😛 And currently in the process of producing an ASICS Aaron parkour shoe review as well, was planning on trying out the NewBalance 247 v2’s Thoughts?
Thanks Sam! Interesting about the 247 v2s. I probably won't order a pair because the sole looks much thicker than what I like. In fact, New Balance makes a lot of shoes that are pretty good for parkour except most of them have soles that are pretty bulky and much thicker than I prefer. I have not worn the 247's, so I don't know for sure. I have bought and trained in the u220, u420, u520, and 574. I'm a big fan of the U420s. And the U220s are pretty good. I found the u520s to be pretty heavy with a thick sole. The 574s are a good shoe, and I think for many people probably a good choice, but the heal has this firm, plastic cup around it with some extra thing padding which made them a bit thicker than I would prefer. A good shoe for impact though. All 4 of these shoes have excellent grip. The other down side is some of the NewBalance designs have a toe that curls up. The u520 and the 574s do this, and it gives you less traction and control. It looks to me like the 247s might do this as well. But all of these things are guesses since I haven't gotten to try a pair myself. Let us know if you make that video, I'd love to watch it! Keep spreading knowledge and thanks for the input.
Yeah some of these prices are pretty crazy. But you do get what you pay for in some ways. The New Balance U420s are in a similar price range to the Ultimate 81s. Might be worth looking into. It just depends on your preference. Thanks for watching!
I have not trained in a pair, so I can't give you definite information, but they look decent. They appear very padded, with a mesh upper, a black rubber sole and an upturned toe. I personally look for shoes with a flat sole, so the upturned toe is a downside to me. The grip looks decent, the mesh would make it less durable but lighter weight, and the padding is too much for me, but if that's what you are looking for, go for it! Alternatively, I know some people train in the Puma Roma's (which have less padding and a flat sole.)
We would not recommend the Nike Free Runs. Although they are comfortable and light weight, there are two big problems with this shoe. 1). The grip is BAD. Most of the sole is made of white foam which is one of the worst possible materials for grip. 2). The foam sole is subdivided into a grid of cubes. These cubes break off very easily under the wear and tear of training. If you get a pair, the sole may even start tearing apart after just one training session.
Hey. Can you do a review and comper Str/ke mov vs LaFlair vs Farang Vs Storror vs TakeFly and maybe WallRun shoes that coming soon. you can check it on Instagram @wallrun_official
@@descree7 We are working on a new parkour shoe. WallRun -is the name of a company. The last final version is not ready yet, but we fixed most of the issues on our last prototypes. we have been working on it for almost a year. Please keep follow us in Instagram @wallrun_official.
Thanks for the comment! We're excited to see what you guys come out with. We may do some comparison between those shoes. We have a big video coming out soon that will cover every shoe we're aware of, so all of those will be in there!
Dude why don't you support parkour shoe companies. It's sad to see athletes buying from big companies when we should all be supporting each other. I'm disappointed
Hey Evan, Thanks for joining the conversation. I'd be interested to hear more of your thoughts on this. First, this video is not intended to be about the BEST shoes available. It is simply saying what was most popular in the community in 2018. I actually specifically do not like one of the shoes in this video, but they are popular right now. Secondly, there are technically only two parkour shoe companies. Ollo, and KO. Ollo has done great things for the community and they continue to support athletes, which is awesome. We are fans of Ollo. In our video titled "Parkour Shoes for Beginners" we recommend Ollo's as the #1 shoe for beginners. While they are maybe not the very best shoe available, I think they are an excellent shoe to start with, are very affordable, and I like supporting them. KO is a little more complicated. I have bought many KO shoes through the years. I have always wanted to support them as a community brand, and I've always hoped they will make better and better shoes. However, the quality of their shoes has always disappointed me. They are a good, inexpensive option for light training. However, every KO shoe I've bought has torn apart quickly under constant training (I train ~ 6 days a week). They know they have problems with durability, which is why their shoes are so cheap. And they say they are working on it. Secondly, as events have unfolded with WFPF and the FIG take over of Parkour I am no longer excited about supporting WFPF as they have decided to be involved with FIG. This, in turn has led me to be less excited about KO, a branch of WFPF (although I think run by a different person?). As for the other Parkour specific shoes available, we have Jiyo (I'm buying a pair right now. They are very expensive and the shipping is pricey, but I'm excited to support them and I hear good things) Tempest (I do not particularly want to support their shoes. That is a whole, long conversation. But mainly, their shoes are more about fashion than about training.) Storror (They seem decent. I have borrowed a pair to check out. They are very padded. But mainly, I am growing less excited about supporting them as a team because of how they represent parkour to the world) Farang (probably the best parkour specific shoe being made. They had not come out yet when I released this video. I have since bought a pair and I will talk about them in my next video. They are not very affordable for many people however. Also, again, I have been disappointed with Farang as a team. They have done a lot of good things for the community. But they also represent parkour in a way that I don't support and they have been increasingly involved with FIG.) and Take Flight. Take Flight is a LONG conversation. If you aren't aware of the controversy, look it up for yourself. There's plenty out there. I'll just say, we don't support Take Flight.
Akron Movement Family, sadly this is where I do not agree. I have a great relationships with both tempest and Farang. Through all the years I have known them they have done nothing but support and grow the community. I’m glad to see that you are trying to help out beginners but we need to support the big company’s like Tempest, Jiyo, Farang, Ko so one flash we won’t have to pay $110 for a pair of shoes. I would like to help parkour athletes make a living at parkour and not help make a rich man richer.
Wow! A reviewer who gets straight to the point! Shocked.
Appreciate your style dude. Great advice.
great video! very good options, and analysis of each! keep it up man!
Ulimate 81s is what run. I love them. They give that retro style i like💯
I love the Vans Ultrarange!

Yup. The NewBalance U420s are what George has been wearing. They're a great shoe! I highly recommend them.
Kids when they see Vans: Wait that's illegal.

What about Reebok classic royal dimension?🤔

Interval knit vs ultimate 81 (Asics), thoughts, worth the price upgrade?

What size are your str/ke mvmnt shoes PLEASE I can only find them in size 7 1/2 and I’m a 10 1/2
My size is a 9. I originally bought a pair of 8 1/2 but they were too small. The pair in the video are my friend's and they are 10s.
I miss the K Swiss Ariake's. They came out during parkour's heyday but they stopped making them when all the trendies left and moved onto the next internet sensation.
I was a big fan of the K Swiss SI-18 Ranel. I was never as excited about the Ariake's. They were super durable, but surprisingly heavy in my opinion.
are the Reebok royal ultras only on Reebok's UK site? how much do they cost?

is there someone who spends 120€ for a pair of parkour shoes? I'm sticking with onitsuka I guess
