  • Laowa has just done what nobody else has done before (well, for less than $30,000): AN ANAMORPHIC ZOOM.
I spent a few days testing out the new anamorphic zooms and was very impressed. The Laowa Anamorphic Zoom set is a two lens set with a constant 1.5x desqueeze and flare options in blue, amber, and neutral.
Sit back and enjoy these scenes from Laowa's newest innovation - from a polar plunge swim in a quarry to being in the lights and rain downtown.

A nice mixture of always having a great shotgun on camera and sourcing some effects from places like Art List to layer in and enhance. Elliott (who is in the film) did a lot of that layering for the city locations.

Gorgeous stuff. Gonna have to try this pair. They’re quite beautiful. I have used c70s for the past year and half on a doc and a string of commercials. Saw that you had mentioned that you shot your doc King Coal on the c300 mkIII & c70. Did you use cLog or Raw for that? What about for this anamorphic test? Thanks!

For King Coal we shot in XF-AVC, 10-bit, Clog2 but no raw. For this test, I shot with the C70 in Raw LT. thanks for watching! They are really nice lenses and there is nothing else like them.

@@CurrenSheldon Thanks. That’s great. Yes, Clog2 appeared to provide the greatest DR and that’s exactly how I’ve been using it on long form. Looking forward to testing with this set. Thanks for the bid and reply.

@@CurrenSheldon Did you decide against raw for storage reasons? Obviously the film looks amazing - so just wondering why you went that route?

@@geminicreativeagency Originally, yes. The C300 III raw is very storage-hungry and we captured A LOT of hours. And the C70 (our b-cam) didn't have raw at the time we started filming with it. Now I shoot raw on the C70 all the time as it is much more usable from a storage perspective.
