Not to mention Victor had the more complex deck. I get what the APS guys were going for, trying to give the newer player the more capable deck, but the deck required more knowledge of the game and was easier to mess up with. Both of these guys were great, but I think Victor is a legit hero for powering through to the end

Yup I agree but victor could have played better best way is to teach them the foundation first then. Teach them other obscure stuff. They need to understand how to play a turn first and summon monsters and how spell and trap work that can carry them far especially with two noobs even tho travane isn't really a beginner

@@Gilamath. Yeah, they should have started off with basic pre-syncho/link/xyz starter decks too. If both of them had around equal knowledge of the game prior, they could have started off with extremely basic decks, then maybe do more videos with them upgrading to newer starter decks per duel. It would have helped them understand better naturally. Jumping into wonky stuff like links and arrows is a lot of information to take in.

This was a great video, if I may...
A couple of years back when link had just started I got my friend who wanted to learn yugioh from scratch. So I gave him the very basic Monster, spell, & traps. I didn't teach him about extra decks and told him that they were just multiple types of summing methods cuz he just wanted to know how to play. I ofc taught fusions at least. As weeks passed he started to get the hang of it and eventually started looking up synchro & XYZ on his own at his own pace.
This is just something I learned. I know ppl tend to feel like it's difficult to teach/learn yugioh, my tips is to stick to the basics of the game & classic strategies. Try to keep away from extra decks. If they are invested then they can slowly learn more in their own pace.
Psychologically people tend to learn from simple things and will learn faster when they are excited to know more. But if we suddenly give them fusion, synchro, XYZ, and link. They will be overwhelmed due to no knowledge.
That's all from this old player. Team APS u guys are the best in yugioh content 🔥🔥🔥

The best way to teach is for sure go to square one. Start at old GOAT format with "set one pass" then slowly bring in new sets and expansions. It may take a little long to explain the game but it's easier for new people to take it all in I feel. Great video. Cool concept to take new players, teach them the game, then force them to a shadow game

This is basically a psa for one of the biggest issue in the game, the obscene barrier to entry for new players.
If you had an hour to teach a new player Pokemon, Digimon or even Magic they'll always have a much better experience than with Yu-Gi-Oh.

Yugioh is a game that can make a competent functioning adult look like a six year old, despite that it is just combining basic math concepts and reading…. and people, especially ladies hate looking bad at things. You will feel stupid trying to learn yugioh at the beginning, and most people don’t have the constitution to learn something that they might look like a slow learning child at. Yugioh is very brutal compared to other games in terms of making people feel like one misplay makes the whole point of playing the game seem like it’s too much to bear. It’s not really a game designed with modern women’s psychology in mind.

I know that as a magic player, I just recently started watching some modern Yugioh card game content and some of the ways that yugioh plays, what is considered good, what is considered bad, is just fascinating.
