Egyptian God Slime was a short print in LED7 and is one of the 3 Ultra Rares from that set that are actually worthy anything. Furthermore this card is probably going to be one of the Secret Rares in LDS4 as it is one of the cards because of which people would go out and buy LDS4. Therefore it would make no sense for Konami to reprint that card before they release LDS4 (in 2023 at the earliest) and make their money off it, especially not as a Common.
I would definitely /love/ for the Egyptian gods to be competitively viable and have their own archetype named after other Egyptian gods like Sebek or Anubis
slifer disciple: it discards itself from the hand and searches a divine beast monster from the deck or graveyard. obelisk disciple: it searches any spell or trap with divine beast in its text.
Having Divine Support would be nice in general I mean look at the amount of Dark Magician and Blue Eyes decks Their support (regardless of good or bad) is still alot Still wish gods had the same amount of support 🤷🏻♂️
The thing is, Ra Disciple is trash. We need Obelisk and Slifer Disciple that is actually good, maybe it can search the gods from the deck and do something else.
My very first thought about Slifers Disciple was special 2 others from Deck/Hand/Gy on summon. Can only be used for the tribute summon of a Divine Beast monster. If tributed for a tribute summon of Slifer draw one card. Can't be used for link/xyz/synchro material. (This is a draw 3 if you tribute for Slifer) This plays into slifers strength and theme, but doesn't make it useless if you tribute it for a different god.
though... what would be the "theme" of Slifer? Drawing cards maybe? (like the speed duel skill for him where you get to draw 4 (or up to 4 don't remember) when you summon him??
Can you imagine if each Egyptian gods have they own servants helping them being summon much easier...for example, Ra being light attribute will have a fairy type creature helping it summon, Slifer being fire attribute will a pyro type creature helping it summon and Obelisk being dark attribute will have a fiend type creature helping it summon; something like that!!!

I feel that same way I'm tired of the OCG getting all the good stuff and we get nothing like that what I love to have that number collection still going to buy the structure deck just for the sure fact that it has herpes feather duster in it and it's the only reason

The card list displays 35 cards, so either there are other cards, or there are additional copies of some of the cards. I would guess that Nimble Momonga is at least at 2, though it really need to be at 3 as that is one of the benefit over other recruiters that Nimble have.
Then I guess you have no problem at all because they aren’t going to sell a deck with 35 1-ofs and call it a deck. It’s obvious there will be duplicates in the deck, the database only shows the set list it doesn’t show quantities of cards included in each deck.

Just bought the obelisk deck and holding his card in my hand brought back intense nostalgic memories. I remember you had to sell your kidneys and promised your first born to get one of the three cards as a kid. Ahh good time
Conglomerate strategy: give dog shit to casuals that dont know any better for a reasonable price, make the good shit for your loyal fan base but charge them more for it. In this case its nostalgia bait cheap, competitive stuff locked behind random product with a rarity bump. But this is pretty much par for any company in any industry.
I saw a comment on here that had an absolutely insane idea for support. They said to imagine new versions of the ra disciple card themed for each god card that help the divine archetype. So like a “Slifer disciple” that can be discarded to add a divine beast to your hand and a “Obelisk disciple” that can be discarded to add a spell/trap that lists divine beast to your hand. Those are just two monsters and they already can help a lot with the decks. They can easily make more Egyptian god themed cards to boost the archetype and dare I say they could maybe give the gods themselves a slight buff with a retrain? Doing this or anything similar for the gods to make them viable would bring so many old players back to the game and boost the fun for still competing players as well as anime fans Konami can be lazy and sell out with these bad structure decks like you said, but they need to see the bigger picture. Imagine how much money and influence the game would get if they actually made the deck good? So putting in the effort is good for us fans and for the company
They were never marketed as structure decks tho, Konami has no reason to market this product towards competitive players. This product was purely for fans of the show to pick up off of a Walmart or GameStop shelf when they see that crazy strong god card they remembered from that cartoon they used to watch.
What messes me up is that these aren’t even very well themed. See, I’m a HUGE fan of every yugioh anime and in general I like to collect cards used by the characters, building their decks in paper and all that. But these decks aren’t even good for that! Aside from the Gods themselves and a few stand-out cards like Electromagnetic Turtle in the Slifer deck, NONE of these cards are reminiscent of Yugi, Kaiba, or anyone else who played these respective cards. The closest we get is some support in the Obelisk deck that was used by Yako Tenma in the Yugioh R manga, but all of those cards were used with the Wicked Gods (which I would be way more interested to get some support for, since they’ve been largely ignored) and not Obelisk (though Divine Evolution is used by Yugi on Obelisk after taking it for himself). SO many of these cards feel like random, generic choices thrown together slapdash in order to turn assorted product into a hype new structure deck. Cimo already does a good job of pointing out how bad most of these cards are, but even as an anime fan, looking at these card lists evokes NO real feeling for me as a collector. These don’t look like Yugi or Kaiba decks, don’t look like solidly themed God decks, they just feel like a random lot of cards with a vague theme of “get materials on board.”
I mean, that's literally what they are. These weren't meant to be Decks. They're just cards taken out of a collectors box booster pack, and then a ton of trash reprints(minus a couple) thrown in, to pretend these are Decks.

The cyber style cards will turn out to be short printed secret rares. And the structure deck itself will only have the original shitty cyberdark monsters.

Probably for the lineup what with everything being delayed constantly. Delaying it too much puts it too close to LDS3 which I'd bet is later in the year because they want that Secret Rare Adusted/Malicious/TDM/Souls money and they've got things like the tin which are a given to happen (which itself has already been delayed as well).
We are definitely getting the short end of the stick in the TCG market compared to the OCG. Personally as a collector I started buying OCG products and got 3 prismatic god boxes with each god. I've never bought any TCG product that can even compare.
@@LinusIslamTips TCG is Trading Card Game and OCG is Original Card Game. For the purposes of Yugioh, TCG and OCG are also used as regional brandings for the two different formats of the game. We in the west have the TCG and the card pool is different than that of the East's OCG format. Some cards are the same sure, but there are many card differences. Not only what is on/off of the banlist but the card pool itself is also different. some cards are only printed in OCG. others only in TCG. some are delayed release. this creates the two formats i listed above. Hope this answered your question.
I'm new to YGO and to me that whole concept of TCG and OCG doesn't make sense at all. Maybe money-wise it's good for Konami, but thinking as a player... it's just a pure nonsence.
They are too frail to other effects. They didn t make them unaffected because would have been too strong when they came out years ago, but now it s necessary for them to be playable
Coming back to yugioh after 20 years and I got to say, I liked the deck. Granted, I know pretty much none of the cards and obviously know none of the meta, so it was a useful deck in relearning how to play this game, and I think that's possibly what this deck was made for, people like me who they're trying to get back into the game.
The Egypitian gods could have receive a support like the Sacred Beasts Structure, cuz that is a decent engine and still gives the cool Sacred Beasts vibe
The Gods have always been treated bottom tier. The support is bad, their effects are even worse, and these are fiitingly unplayable. It's like a meme or poetry

Considering amazing Structure decks like Dino, Salamangreat, Endymion , Borrel Revolver and Shaddoll; it is hard to call those "Egyptian God Structure Decks" Structure Decks.

They were never referred to as structure decks by Konami, just yugitubers hyping the product up. Sadly they got everyone’s hopes and expectations up by using the phrase “structure deck”.
@@jeffreylebeaux6141 and some madmen viably run then in competitive as an engine for Eldlitch, wich is pretty sweet. Edlitch benefits significantly from the field spell's draw 2 effect, since the archetype is all about grinding advantage; Sacred Beast Awakening recycles the eldlitch cards and has legitimately scary effects once you get the sacred beasts out, and Uria in particular is a nasty wincon considering the amount of traps this deck runs.
Both Dzeef and House of Champs warned early on that the fact they were called egyptian god decks means to expect them to be nowhere near as playable/competitive as a structure deck
Plus Dzeeff actually even says that they aren’t Structure Decks and he has proven it. Just the fact that Structure Decks actually say “Structure Deck” on their boxes and website pages strictly shows that these are NOT Structure Decks since the words: “Structure Deck” isn’t used at all; add to that the fact that the only word used is: “Decks” shows that they aren’t Structure Decks!
Nimble Momonga would be fine if there was a Nimble Engine or a level 2 Beast Engine which is at least half a decade old and more competitive than what these decks provide
Now what they are going to do is put all the “good” stuff in kings court, short print it, and also in the highest rarity with the new inzektor card, at this point I don’t think they will print new support but it is something that Konami is able to do and has done in the past.
It's what they did to Dragunity. it was intended to be a structure deck, but they cut it up and released the new cards in one of the booster sets. Fucking TCG, man.

Structure Decks or not... These just aren't GOOD decks. Mostly nostalgia bait with some PRETTY noice reprints like Duster, Lair of Darkness and Ahrima. I guess getting the new cards in the TCG for the first time is neat and you don't have to buy a randomized product to get them. I dunno, man... This just doesn't hit home for me, personally. You know it's bad when it's the Damn TRIBUTE SUMMOM BIRD DECK that are getting some older players interested in coming back into the game. Lol.

I just started yugioh like a month ago. My main deck is an obelisk structure deck i threw a bunch of random stuff into. Its not strong but its really fun to play. Nimble momonga has saved my skin so many times 😂

You really shouldn't look at them to fit into the 2021 format. They are good for nostalgia players without an own collection and you can play both decks straight of the box and they are balanced around each other. They are good for casual game night and in that these decks are fun and simple enough so you can play it with non-yugioh fans.

you can combine cards from both decks that's one of the best things about both decks, I'm hoping for for the Winged Dragon Of Ra structure deck so I can put all 3 Egyptian God cards in one deck
I do love how they put Hardened Armed Dragon in the Obelisk deck. A friend of mine topped nationals with that combo wayyy back when those cards were still fairly new.
They've been milking DM (Yugi and Seto particularly) forever. I think something like a Trickstar or Fluffal Structure Deck would've been better, if they want products that directly relate to the anime but still have good cards. I feel like these would sell more.
And they're milking the wrong way... They come up with garbage support most of the time. Remember last mega tin... However, I noticed recently that Konami creates more and more cards that are directly inspired from anime ones, I hope they will keep going and bring some powerful ones we've already seen being younger...
I think they could've easily put in some form of Ra in both decks. Either the main god Ra, or even sphere mode. This deck has potential to have so many good cards for new players and for those with not a lot of money for expensive cards
Honestly structure decks should just include 3x of all the archetype cards for $20 in one box. It doesn't make sense to have to buy 3 of the same product.

everything is better except the banlist. They have MaxxC. I used to think their list is so much better because more decks are seen in tournament decks. But then I played a months with ocg Rules and omg Maxx C is the single reason their meta is different. First of all. All combo decks are dead because of maxxC. Second: MaxxC gets stronger as the years go by since it is able to draw additional handtraps (nibiru drnm etc) A single maxx C activation can end the game and thats bullshit.
I was so hyped for this set after seeing what they did with each and the then I saw the decks then I saw NIMBLE MOMONGA well if I end up buying I now have a new card for my troll goat deck
This got me thinking about that upcoming mural-art bird archetype (forgot their name) you covered the other day, with the whole gimmick of being normal summons only, additional normal summons per turn and denying your opponent their special summons...THAT ARCHETYPE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE NEW EGYPTIAN GOD SUPPORT!! The Gods need to be normal summoned via tributes and that archetype could theoretical end up giving you 4 normal summons in one turn, combine that with (Again THEORETICALLY) locking your opponent into a normal summon and slifer nuking that summon out of orbit with its 2nd mouth or obelisk just being an untargetable 4K atk beat stick (as Duel logs likes to put it) if you're going first could be oppressive. I might actually look into combining the God structure decks and the Ra support from Rage of Ra with this new archetype at the end 2021, it just might possibly result in some rogue deck potential shenanigans but the main point being is and I'll say it again, the functions of those birds should have been the archetype for God card support. Honestly at this point I'm done with Konami and their refusal to give anything from the 2000s outside of Thunder Dragons, Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes (The latter being laughable which is sad cause I love Red-Eyes and I want to see Thunder Dragon-like support given to it outside of dragoon) proper competive viable support.
Man, I know, a game has to evolve in some way to keep itself alive. But to be honest, there are still so much people out there, who still play with the old classics, who still play GOAT, and a lot of those introduce their kids into the old game, and kids will decide for them, wich path they´ll follow. So, I do not refuse the importance of evolution, I tried every format for a bit, but for me it never lasted long, because the game that I love, will always be the origin version. So, as you said, they did something great with Dark magician and blue eyes, red eyes and some others as well, and yes, it would be great to follow that path, but I do not need the competitive scence for that. Yes, you are right, when you take a look at the meta game, this decks have no relevance, they are not good in a sense of "dominating every opponent", but game was never meant to be. What these decks do have, is some goat reprints, some new god support cards that have no imporntance for the meta of modern play, and even newer archetype cards of iconic monsters like breaker the dark. For guys like me, these decks have some very awesome cards to be honest, and yes, maybe it would be nice to see more old archetypes in the current meta, but it would not be the same feeling, because the new cards would have to be as fast and OP as the current meta themes. Look, the history of YGO is a huge universe and every step, every season feels like a own game in the game, and I think, the path of evolution the community and Konami had chosen, is in reality, very limited. Look how many summon mechanics the game has nowadays, they can´t bring every year a new summon mechanic, this is a dead end. I think this was the main reason for speed duels, for example. Yes, you could say "they did this just because they wanted to make money with old trash", and that could be their intention, but man, you know what? Who cares? It worked for a lot of people, because the cards were classic, the game was slow paste, the artworks are great, the feeling is nostalgic and the old version of the game had a fresh restart with even new aspects in terms of skill cards and newer cards that where perfectly fitted into the OG format. So, speed duels brought me back to the YGO, BECAUSE it had those OG cards, and now, not related to speed duels, there are many other nostalgic products. And in my opinion, they don´t have to be competitive, because if they´d come with those modern OP cards, the nostalgia would be dead again. Back to blue eyes and dark magician - yes, in a way, they combined both worlds, but did it ever feel really connected? not for me. What I think, the real problem is, is that Konami knows exactly that they can´t follow the path of evolution it was intended, they have to slow down the game, but they can´t, because there are so many mechanics already.
I definitely agree that they missed a HUGE opportunity. The the point you made of fusing the competitor, casual, and collector aspects of the game using the gods would have been amazing to see for yugioh. The gods are a timeless piece of yugioh history as you said and could have the same effect as blue eyes becoming competitive again for that short period if not more. It could definitely succeed because no matter what yugioh player you are, I think anybody would love to summon a god card and have it be viable. As a mix of a competitive and casual player as well as a HUGE fan of the anime series, I would have loved to see this structure deck be decently good. I’m sure many fans on all sides of yugioh would agree

I got back in the game after 15 years. I just bought a Ra card off a friend, both slifer and obelisk decks along with a random set of a butt ton of rare and powerful cards I bought off a dude for cheap which contained 3 blue eyes, exodia, dark magician and many more. My goal was to mix and match with cards to make a decent deck focused on drawing many cards, spellcasters, the egyptian gods and I guess exodia. I yet have to test it out

When I returned to Yugioh last year, I bought three Shaddoll Structure Decks, played in a regional with only that decks (without Schism), and got the top 4.
In my opinion putting cards that help new cards in a structure deck would be a start. Like for example with god card structure decks putting cards like performage hat tricker in it .
These are pretty specifically not listed as structure decks. Im just glad we get the imports here and not as short prints in a Battles of Legend set, which is what I originally expected.
100% Disgusted. We got this none sense and not the Prismatic god box. TCG Konami really lacking. Structure Deck R's being broken down for filler box sets, cool Special box sets from the OCG dummed down to a trash deck. Not doing too hot now and I bet the Inzektor fans still waiting on their 1 card vote lol. At least Hidden Arsenal getting some love in the Hidden Arsenal Chapter 1 coming later this year.
I only got this for the Slifer card itself because I didn't have one while I already had the gold sarcophagus tin copies of Ra and Obelisk. The rest of the cards is just a bonus that I didn't really need but can find a use for.
not even that given it doesn't really include many "yugi or kaiba" related cards. just "token spam cards". some of the yugi and kaiba cards got mixed up (enemy controller and brain control)

Egyptian God Slime was a short print in LED7 and is one of the 3 Ultra Rares from that set that are actually worthy anything. Furthermore this card is probably going to be one of the Secret Rares in LDS4 as it is one of the cards because of which people would go out and buy LDS4. Therefore it would make no sense for Konami to reprint that card before they release LDS4 (in 2023 at the earliest) and make their money off it, especially not as a Common.

The thing is, Ra Disciple is trash. We need Obelisk and Slifer Disciple that is actually good, maybe it can search the gods from the deck and do something else.
My very first thought about Slifers Disciple was special 2 others from Deck/Hand/Gy on summon. Can only be used for the tribute summon of a Divine Beast monster. If tributed for a tribute summon of Slifer draw one card. Can't be used for link/xyz/synchro material. (This is a draw 3 if you tribute for Slifer)
This plays into slifers strength and theme, but doesn't make it useless if you tribute it for a different god.
I would LOVE a god archetype with that no extra deck mechanism. It would be SICK and something I would definitely play for fun

Can you imagine if each Egyptian gods have they own servants helping them being summon much easier...for example, Ra being light attribute will have a fairy type creature helping it summon, Slifer being fire attribute will a pyro type creature helping it summon and Obelisk being dark attribute will have a fiend type creature helping it summon; something like that!!!

I don't have a problem with Nimble Momonga being in the deck. I have a problem with there only being 1 Nimble Momonga in the deck.
The card list displays 35 cards, so either there are other cards, or there are additional copies of some of the cards. I would guess that Nimble Momonga is at least at 2, though it really need to be at 3 as that is one of the benefit over other recruiters that Nimble have.

I saw a comment on here that had an absolutely insane idea for support. They said to imagine new versions of the ra disciple card themed for each god card that help the divine archetype. So like a “Slifer disciple” that can be discarded to add a divine beast to your hand and a “Obelisk disciple” that can be discarded to add a spell/trap that lists divine beast to your hand. Those are just two monsters and they already can help a lot with the decks. They can easily make more Egyptian god themed cards to boost the archetype and dare I say they could maybe give the gods themselves a slight buff with a retrain? Doing this or anything similar for the gods to make them viable would bring so many old players back to the game and boost the fun for still competing players as well as anime fans
Konami can be lazy and sell out with these bad structure decks like you said, but they need to see the bigger picture. Imagine how much money and influence the game would get if they actually made the deck good? So putting in the effort is good for us fans and for the company

They were never marketed as structure decks tho, Konami has no reason to market this product towards competitive players. This product was purely for fans of the show to pick up off of a Walmart or GameStop shelf when they see that crazy strong god card they remembered from that cartoon they used to watch.
What messes me up is that these aren’t even very well themed.
See, I’m a HUGE fan of every yugioh anime and in general I like to collect cards used by the characters, building their decks in paper and all that. But these decks aren’t even good for that! Aside from the Gods themselves and a few stand-out cards like Electromagnetic Turtle in the Slifer deck, NONE of these cards are reminiscent of Yugi, Kaiba, or anyone else who played these respective cards.
The closest we get is some support in the Obelisk deck that was used by Yako Tenma in the Yugioh R manga, but all of those cards were used with the Wicked Gods (which I would be way more interested to get some support for, since they’ve been largely ignored) and not Obelisk (though Divine Evolution is used by Yugi on Obelisk after taking it for himself).
SO many of these cards feel like random, generic choices thrown together slapdash in order to turn assorted product into a hype new structure deck. Cimo already does a good job of pointing out how bad most of these cards are, but even as an anime fan, looking at these card lists evokes NO real feeling for me as a collector. These don’t look like Yugi or Kaiba decks, don’t look like solidly themed God decks, they just feel like a random lot of cards with a vague theme of “get materials on board.”
I mean, that's literally what they are. These weren't meant to be Decks. They're just cards taken out of a collectors box booster pack, and then a ton of trash reprints(minus a couple) thrown in, to pretend these are Decks.
If you want to RP as the anime characters there are at least half a dozen better products you could buy anyway.

I'm more upset that "Legendary Duelists: Synchro Storm" got delayed from 15th July to January.
Probably for the lineup what with everything being delayed constantly.
Delaying it too much puts it too close to LDS3 which I'd bet is later in the year because they want that Secret Rare Adusted/Malicious/TDM/Souls money and they've got things like the tin which are a given to happen (which itself has already been delayed as well).

We are definitely getting the short end of the stick in the TCG market compared to the OCG. Personally as a collector I started buying OCG products and got 3 prismatic god boxes with each god. I've never bought any TCG product that can even compare.

@@LinusIslamTips TCG is Trading Card Game and OCG is Original Card Game. For the purposes of Yugioh, TCG and OCG are also used as regional brandings for the two different formats of the game. We in the west have the TCG and the card pool is different than that of the East's OCG format. Some cards are the same sure, but there are many card differences. Not only what is on/off of the banlist but the card pool itself is also different. some cards are only printed in OCG. others only in TCG. some are delayed release. this creates the two formats i listed above. Hope this answered your question.

The god cards suck. Scared Beasts structure deck did a great job of making them playable. They could have done something similar for the gods.

Coming back to yugioh after 20 years and I got to say, I liked the deck.
Granted, I know pretty much none of the cards and obviously know none of the meta, so it was a useful deck in relearning how to play this game, and I think that's possibly what this deck was made for, people like me who they're trying to get back into the game.
The Egypitian gods could have receive a support like the Sacred Beasts Structure, cuz that is a decent engine and still gives the cool Sacred Beasts vibe

They were never referred to as structure decks by Konami, just yugitubers hyping the product up. Sadly they got everyone’s hopes and expectations up by using the phrase “structure deck”.
@@jeffreylebeaux6141 and some madmen viably run then in competitive as an engine for Eldlitch, wich is pretty sweet. Edlitch benefits significantly from the field spell's draw 2 effect, since the archetype is all about grinding advantage; Sacred Beast Awakening recycles the eldlitch cards and has legitimately scary effects once you get the sacred beasts out, and Uria in particular is a nasty wincon considering the amount of traps this deck runs.
Both Dzeef and House of Champs warned early on that the fact they were called egyptian god decks means to expect them to be nowhere near as playable/competitive as a structure deck

Structure Decks or not... These just aren't GOOD decks. Mostly nostalgia bait with some PRETTY noice reprints like Duster, Lair of Darkness and Ahrima. I guess getting the new cards in the TCG for the first time is neat and you don't have to buy a randomized product to get them.

You really shouldn't look at them to fit into the 2021 format. They are good for nostalgia players without an own collection and you can play both decks straight of the box and they are balanced around each other. They are good for casual game night and in that these decks are fun and simple enough so you can play it with non-yugioh fans.

Pokemon actually fixes ALL these problems with their Battle league decks. Konami could very easily do something similar but they dont.
They've been milking DM (Yugi and Seto particularly) forever. I think something like a Trickstar or Fluffal Structure Deck would've been better, if they want products that directly relate to the anime but still have good cards. I feel like these would sell more.
And they're milking the wrong way... They come up with garbage support most of the time. Remember last mega tin... However, I noticed recently that Konami creates more and more cards that are directly inspired from anime ones, I hope they will keep going and bring some powerful ones we've already seen being younger...

Honestly structure decks should just include 3x of all the archetype cards for $20 in one box. It doesn't make sense to have to buy 3 of the same product.

everything is better except the banlist. They have MaxxC. I used to think their list is so much better because more decks are seen in tournament decks. But then I played a months with ocg Rules and omg Maxx C is the single reason their meta is different. First of all. All combo decks are dead because of maxxC. Second: MaxxC gets stronger as the years go by since it is able to draw additional handtraps (nibiru drnm etc)
A single maxx C activation can end the game and thats bullshit.

This got me thinking about that upcoming mural-art bird archetype (forgot their name) you covered the other day, with the whole gimmick of being normal summons only, additional normal summons per turn and denying your opponent their special summons...THAT ARCHETYPE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE NEW EGYPTIAN GOD SUPPORT!!
The Gods need to be normal summoned via tributes and that archetype could theoretical end up giving you 4 normal summons in one turn, combine that with (Again THEORETICALLY) locking your opponent into a normal summon and slifer nuking that summon out of orbit with its 2nd mouth or obelisk just being an untargetable 4K atk beat stick (as Duel logs likes to put it) if you're going first could be oppressive.
I might actually look into combining the God structure decks and the Ra support from Rage of Ra with this new archetype at the end 2021, it just might possibly result in some rogue deck potential shenanigans but the main point being is and I'll say it again, the functions of those birds should have been the archetype for God card support.
Honestly at this point I'm done with Konami and their refusal to give anything from the 2000s outside of Thunder Dragons, Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes (The latter being laughable which is sad cause I love Red-Eyes and I want to see Thunder Dragon-like support given to it outside of dragoon) proper competive viable support.
Man, I know, a game has to evolve in some way to keep itself alive. But to be honest, there are still so much people out there, who still play with the old classics, who still play GOAT, and a lot of those introduce their kids into the old game, and kids will decide for them, wich path they´ll follow.
So, I do not refuse the importance of evolution, I tried every format for a bit, but for me it never lasted long, because the game that I love, will always be the origin version. So, as you said, they did something great with Dark magician and blue eyes, red eyes and some others as well, and yes, it would be great to follow that path, but I do not need the competitive scence for that. Yes, you are right, when you take a look at the meta game, this decks have no relevance, they are not good in a sense of "dominating every opponent", but game was never meant to be. What these decks do have, is some goat reprints, some new god support cards that have no imporntance for the meta of modern play, and even newer archetype cards of iconic monsters like breaker the dark. For guys like me, these decks have some very awesome cards to be honest, and yes, maybe it would be nice to see more old archetypes in the current meta, but it would not be the same feeling, because the new cards would have to be as fast and OP as the current meta themes.
Look, the history of YGO is a huge universe and every step, every season feels like a own game in the game, and I think, the path of evolution the community and Konami had chosen, is in reality, very limited. Look how many summon mechanics the game has nowadays, they can´t bring every year a new summon mechanic, this is a dead end. I think this was the main reason for speed duels, for example. Yes, you could say "they did this just because they wanted to make money with old trash", and that could be their intention, but man, you know what? Who cares? It worked for a lot of people, because the cards were classic, the game was slow paste, the artworks are great, the feeling is nostalgic and the old version of the game had a fresh restart with even new aspects in terms of skill cards and newer cards that where perfectly fitted into the OG format.
So, speed duels brought me back to the YGO, BECAUSE it had those OG cards, and now, not related to speed duels, there are many other nostalgic products. And in my opinion, they don´t have to be competitive, because if they´d come with those modern OP cards, the nostalgia would be dead again. Back to blue eyes and dark magician - yes, in a way, they combined both worlds, but did it ever feel really connected? not for me.
What I think, the real problem is, is that Konami knows exactly that they can´t follow the path of evolution it was intended, they have to slow down the game, but they can´t, because there are so many mechanics already.

I definitely agree that they missed a HUGE opportunity. The the point you made of fusing the competitor, casual, and collector aspects of the game using the gods would have been amazing to see for yugioh. The gods are a timeless piece of yugioh history as you said and could have the same effect as blue eyes becoming competitive again for that short period if not more. It could definitely succeed because no matter what yugioh player you are, I think anybody would love to summon a god card and have it be viable. As a mix of a competitive and casual player as well as a HUGE fan of the anime series, I would have loved to see this structure deck be decently good. I’m sure many fans on all sides of yugioh would agree

I got back in the game after 15 years. I just bought a Ra card off a friend, both slifer and obelisk decks along with a random set of a butt ton of rare and powerful cards I bought off a dude for cheap which contained 3 blue eyes, exodia, dark magician and many more. My goal was to mix and match with cards to make a decent deck focused on drawing many cards, spellcasters, the egyptian gods and I guess exodia. I yet have to test it out

When I returned to Yugioh last year, I bought three Shaddoll Structure Decks, played in a regional with only that decks (without Schism), and got the top 4.
i love these decks because they are basically classic yugioh the way i loved it back in the day
In my opinion putting cards that help new cards in a structure deck would be a start. Like for example with god card structure decks putting cards like performage hat tricker in it .
TCG is the adopted child of Yugioh. OCG is the spoiled baby.
These are pretty specifically not listed as structure decks. Im just glad we get the imports here and not as short prints in a Battles of Legend set, which is what I originally expected.
100% Disgusted. We got this none sense and not the Prismatic god box. TCG Konami really lacking. Structure Deck R's being broken down for filler box sets, cool Special box sets from the OCG dummed down to a trash deck. Not doing too hot now and I bet the Inzektor fans still waiting on their 1 card vote lol. At least Hidden Arsenal getting some love in the Hidden Arsenal Chapter 1 coming later this year.

I only got this for the Slifer card itself because I didn't have one while I already had the gold sarcophagus tin copies of Ra and Obelisk. The rest of the cards is just a bonus that I didn't really need but can find a use for.
Sadly these structures were made with the mindset to appeal to people who grew up watching the original anime.
not even that given it doesn't really include many "yugi or kaiba" related cards. just "token spam cards".
