  • This is a WAE24260GB. I thought it would be relatively easy to split the tub on this on but when I was doing it a few of the snap lock tabs broke off. so i am not certain if you could guarantee the integrity of a rebuild. I didn't have the parts to do rebuild it anyway so it was reassembled to become another candidate for brick destruction.

    I had to partly dismount this washing machine, because narrow door. The video helped me a lot. Only there could be seen details, because some plastic pieces are quite easy to damage and you have to be really carefull :D

    Ours did the same thing. We ran it for 4 - 5 years but exactly the same the spider cracked. Ours was knocking when spinning. My wife went into hospital recently so I was in charge of everything. I filled the washer with full loads all day. Then finally the last wash was all the towels. Let’s say the washer tore its self apart. She came out of hospital then two days later had a brand new washing machine delivered 😒

    Thanks Mate. I have the Bosch Classixx. WAE20262AU /01 - yep, Aussie. Anyways. You did a great job and sadly Mrs already warned me she wanted a new one. I’d say she’s been upping the detergent. Ha ha. Anyways, I’ll give her a flogging tonight 😉. Safe to say this is an act or arsery to get us to buy another. There is not fixing it as the plastic outer drum you pulled apart isn’t meant to be ever pulled apart so it’s a chuck out basically. The other parts are generally all perfect so maybe someone will buy if they need. I’m goiNG to see who’ll buy some of this stuff. Why not hey.

      Buy a new one and try to repair the old. Bearings are cheap. Often under £10. The water seal can be more expensive but if it isn’t leaking don’t replace it. Then sell the repaired machine. Or give it to a mate. I usually give them away if I repair them. Can’t be bothered selling. That or Hotwire it and throw a brick in it. Check out me other videos of that response

    Some suggest the aliminium spider becomes a sacrificial anode like you get on a boat. you can a new drum for £109 from bosch, but with that groove on the front of the tub it would probably leak. thus not worth fixing. motor is probably worth a bit, as is the electronic unit.

      @@bootsowen Hey. On which one? Can you give brand name or model number? I wanna buy new bosch wan 24291by, 1200 rpm with aquastop. But i really dont ubderstand, how is it possible, that it makes more noise during spinning than 1400 rpm bosch wan 28263 by... Maybe producers today insert low Quality bearing or spider or vibration amortisers?

    • @bootsowen

      @@devonslo It is always a bit of a gamble. I couldn't say a particular brand or number, But I have seen it on Bosch and AEG and Hoover. I think there is a link between using an excess of detergent and the corrosion. I think there is something going on where there is a reaction between the metals and the detergent. someone else suggested a cathode-anode type corrosion, with the spider acting as a sacrificial anode to the steel of the drum perhaps. The drum is typically not stainless. I think making a very hot wash periodically, say every month may help but I don't know. I would recommend Bosch, but the machines I have are 15-25 years old, bought used, so I haven't much skin in the game!

      @@bootsowen Thanks for the answer. There are some really concentrated laundry detergent with 15-30 % anionic surfactants. Thats really harsh. Most powdered laundry detergent have just 5-15% anionic surfactants. It could matter. Sepp Eisenriegler- the Pioneer of domestic appliances durability and repair has said, that it doesnt matter how much did you pay today for new washer, its made not to last mote than 8 years, thats absolescence. But usually you pay 100 eur price for one year durability. So 500 eur will last about 5-6 years.From 2021 there will be a change in EU. So he has said that in 2025 there in EU we will have just totally repairable washing mashine. He was working 40 years for this change with manufacturers. So from 2021 there will be new Eu regulation. He has also written one really interesting book Konsumtrottel. Sorry for my bad english.

    Hey, do you know what type of material does Bosch use for their drums? You always say it's not typically stainless steel, why tho? Do other washing machine manufacturers (other than Miele) also use different materials for their drums instead of stainless steel? I think Miele should use true stainless steel actually tho

    Hey brother....I'm from India. I have a Bosch machine where the drum is wobbling and rubbing with the rubber casing just as your situation. The engineer is asking me to change the whole drum since it's molded as one piece and can't be separated to check the spider. Is this a correct diagnosis, coz that's gonna cost me a big piece...I appreciate your comments !!!!

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  2 года назад

      If you think it can be taken apart then try, But this kind of failure is pretty bad, see if you can buy the spider only online and you can see if the engineer is telling the truth.

      Thanks for your kind reply bro.... I think I have to go with the engineer's choice as I'm not an engineer myself and can't play with machines 😭😭 I'm gonna change the whole drum setup but worried if they'd provide OEM spares just like the original product.
