Hi Ghib-san! I'm a viewer guy in this video. Thank you for sharing the scenes in which I appear. I didn’t realize you were shooting when I sat next to you, so I was amazed! I enjoyed hearing your mom's phone call live. It was a fantastic experience. I want to have a laksa with more authentic taste in Singapore someday. See you in Singapore, Ghib-san!
The manager and staff are so eye candy, it's not authentic leh lol! Anyway, the kaya toast is really popular everywhere. Even Koreans will buy them bottles home when they visit here. Ya Kun managed to bring Singapore to these countries are amazing.
@@RO_JD you're mistaken they are not rude, they are just returning the favor because they choose to serve only good customers well. rude customers get rude treatment lor.
The manager and Nana is my favourite part of the video 😂. You don't see young people working in Yakun Kaya Toast here in Singapore so often. Literally made me fantasize of these two as a Main Characters in a Romcom Anime.
It was nice meeting you in Tokyo Ghib, and thanks for the 2nd round Kaya Toast as well 😂 Just like you mentioned on the video, a lot of foreign cuisines in Japan are localised so that its easier for the locals here to like the taste - just like how less oil is being used for all dishes on the video. Same deal as some of the Japanese food/restaurants outside of Japan. I wish more Singaporean chains (with options to have more authentic taste) would come to Japan!

With a cute looking and handsome staff in Ya Kun Tokyo, I don't mind visiting Ya Kun everyday to eat there 😊. With local SG food in Japan, I wouldn't miss SG food so much even if I am working in Tokyo. Monday eat chicken rice, Tuesday eat prawn laksa, Wednesday eat curry chicken, Thursday and Friday I can just eat kaya toast 😊
It's really amazing to see that Ya-kun has expended to Tokyo as well, back when I was in School, we had to pitch to the Ya-kun executives for a business project and we proposed that they should consider expanding towards other ASEAN and western countries. Also told them that they could consider adding some Singapore food in the menu. Love to see it The quality of service in Japan's Yakun is no doubt looks better than our usual average Singapore Ya-kun franchise, the soft-boiled eggs looks much nicer than some of our singapore outlets not going to lie. Nice to see the passion of the staff Also the manager and Nana(really want to know her) is soo good looking, Wow O Wow Love the videos as always Ghib-san
So comforting to see the Japanese eating our ya kun and loving it! Always hear tourists raving about how they love Yakun so this really shows it 😊Also loving how your wife is joining in the videos as well with her inputs! Looking forward to hearing more from Mrs Ojisan 😊
As a Singaporean I actually prefer the steamed bread kaya toast more than the toasted one, but they don't have it on the menu in Japan lol. Was pretty happy when they came out with the idea of steaming it
Love the expression of Ghib San when he bit into the kaya toast… that sense of familiarity and comfort is second to none… 😂 thank you for promoting our local brand! 👍
Nana's pride and passion for Ya Kun ... I felt it. one day I would also want to visit Nana ! Yakun has 2 different type of stalls in Singapore. Yakun Kaya Toast is what must people know, but there is also Yakun Family Café which serves proper food like chicken curry, nasi lemak etc. Also, though traditional coffee shops are almost always staffed by older ppl, the staff at west mall yakun family café is mostly young people!
Must admit that I was drawn to the video title with the yakun words❤️. I am going to send the video link to my friends. Initially, me was expecting to see the usual assessment of the food etc but I ended up laughing throughout. Firstly, steady lah. Ghib san approached the counter staff like a inspector from SG, testing ppl some more (kopi o kosong, teh-C etc). Then at some point, both he and wifey separately found the staff to be handsome and pretty. Aiyoh😅. But gosh $11 for chicken rice and $15 for a bottle of kaya... it's crazy lah🙉🥴! For laksa, SG price is abt $5.50-6dol while it's $7.20 in Japan. It's considered cheap oredi for Japan cost of living. The last part was equally hilarious, calling MIL and as a typical SGrean, her first response was how much for kopi. LoL.
Thanks for sharing your experience at Yakun! I was really excited when they reopened in Tokyo.a few years back. I've been to the one in Shinjuku and Yurakucho! I recall at that time they had to push back their original opening because the kaya jams hadn't arrived in time. They were selling the sandwiches, chicken rice and kopi but no kaya toast! Chicken rice at the Shinjuku store is quite tender but may need a bit more cooking at times.(they may have improved since I last went) Unfortunately the Yurakucho shop only sells the basic kaya toast and egg and beverages due to space constraint. My friend loves the jam so much that she rides her bike down from Toyosu to the Yurakucho shop when she runs out!
Hi Ghib, last month i just visit yakun n order the steam bread , very nice,,, that yakun toast in japan looks nice,, if the taste is change to japan standart it wont be authentic then,, anyway when u said “ singapore pride it hit me,, i felt it hahhaha, maybe becoz we lived in singapore n we always wants the best for singapore,, Thks for the video Huat Ah , 👍☕️🍞🍲😬
This must be the friendliest Yakun i've seen haha. Few years ago I tried to find their 1st outlet in Tokyo, but it was closed when I got there :/ After that due to tight itinery didn't return. I get to see one in action now!
Actually Singapore had Laksa, chicken curry, nasi lemak, prawn noodles, and mee rebus in some outlets of Ya Kun. It ranges between $5-$8 sgd with a drink. But that was like since 2020 till last year. Not sure why they removed it entirely now. Probably sales just weren't that great.
From the way I see their entire menu as you have tasted. It's trying to be localized. Meaning they are trying to cater towards the local's tastebubs. For the drinks wise they should have the option to see if they wanna try it less strong or the normal way. The reason why you usually see a lot of Uncles or Aunties behind the counter is because a lot of the youngsters nowadays dislike working F&B or simply hate working is a heated/warm environment. Overall pretty amazing that they replicated the ya kun look as well.
Wow look at the colour of the egg yolk.. can tell right away it's good quality. Anyway the two staff are absurdly good-looking. Are they the ones doing the cooking also? Don't see any kitchen staff leh lol

Good, Ya Kun in Tokyo. Price is reasonable and food looks yummy. Surprised got Chicken rice and Laksa over there. Friendly service maybe must send our Ya Kun staff there for customer service training. This applies to Toast box staff also.
