FOR REALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
Hehehehehe ... damn
Dang
What’s everyones favorite art in a movie?
Mine:
Hand Drawn: Aristocats
Digital: Spider-Man Into the Spider-verse
I need the spiderverse art book!!
Hand drawn....perhaps Bambi
Digital....zootopia or how to train your dragon 2
And I’m gonna add Claymation fav...Coraline
Omg, I love the artbook for Into the Spider-Verse. It's what got me into animation.
(using my bf's account lol)
For me, 2D has always been Pocahantas. I fell in love with art, specifially background art ever since I saw it when I was younger.
For Digital: Definitely Into the Spider-Verse.
Hand drawn: Jungle Book and the like
Digital: Tangled, Frozen, The Book of Life
worked on Tangled the Series... as in PAST TENSE?! Did I miss an announcement?
Aahh! I know, right?! I caught that too!!!!
we shipped our last episode! still a whole season coming out on tv though! :D
@@lulusketches will we get an announcement on any new projects you start working on?
@@lulusketches So what "Job" are you doing now (if I may ask)? Love your videos and thanks so much for taking the time to create all the useful tips and "tricks".
@@elizajane8623 yes! I've been working on a few, I'll let you guys know when I can! :)
The art of books are my permanent birthday/ Christmas present list. Great part is it's such a huge list, I'm always surprised at what I get.
I also LOVE Brave!!!!
@spacemaster17 um different Ashley Benson...
Everytime a movie comes out I lurk on the internet for concept art books. Even when I can't buy it, i save it on my wishlist. 😳
Same lol
I'm waiting for the Kipo book. Need it!
You just described what i do for a living.
Saaaaame ....its so bad xD
Same, I do it for games too. I get sad when I search for a game art book and there isnt one : (
Wait, who hates Brave??? It’s so underrated and I never knew why.
I was asking the same thing! It's one of my favourite films!
Right? There's a beautiful, magical atmosphere to it, and it's a sweet story about finding common ground with your family.
I think it's because it's not your typical Disney princess movie
I know I'm a bit late, but for me, when I saw the trailers, I got a certain vibe from them, and an idea of what path the film would take. When I watched it, I didn't get the same vibe, and it totally went from an 'adventure' that I was thinking it would have, to most of it about Merida and her bear mom trying to turn her mom back to human. It just felt kinda disappointing in that aspect. Though, tbh, of all the films I've seem that ended up being more disappointing than exciting, Brave is one of my personal exceptions. I loved the characters, I loved the setting and environment, so, while not quite what I had expected, for me, at least, it wasn't the worst.
I don't hate Brave I do really like the movie but I think the reason why people didn't like it was due to the original trailer and concept art. It was quite misleading as the original plan for the movie was much for mystic action orientated and a darker tone. So quite a few people weren't pleased with the end result. While I cry for the movie Brave could have been I still very much enjoy it as is.
it makes me so happy that you love Brave, too! i love when it gets the props it deserves!
It made me smile to see your passion for your profession and the books that inspire you. It’s rare that anyone comes across that one thing that forever will motivate you endlessly.. Drawing once did that for me. So I can appreciate your videos.. I still have all of my art books. Frazetta, Boris.. one of the books that I treasure is The Art Of Walt Disney that I bought way back in the early 1970’s. The edition that I believe is still available is very much abridged. Mine is this huge coffee table hardcover with an embossed Mickey Mouse on the cover. It still has the acetate protective dust jacket that came with it. Thanks for this video.. 😊
I can tell that you are a massive pixar fan those movies always hit different the more you watch them
I am so glad I came upon your video. I am no artist but I am a creative person. I visited your tumbler for the first time today and I am going to go off on my own art project.
Thank you! I've added a couple to my wish list now.
If you haven't seen it already, I would really recommend the Art of Rise of the Guardians book. Those are some of my favorite character designs
ooh that one was on my list! I love that movie!!
I have never clicked so fast!! Gahh i love your vids!! You're honestly my inspiration❤️❤️
Le UndercoverMermaid totally agree 😂😂😂
7:46 “This movie’s brilliant, this book is brilliant, everything is gorgeous”
-Laura 2019 😂
I would also recommend "The Art of American McGee's Alice" some genuinely creepy and memorable background and character designs in there.
The How To Train Your Dragon art books are a MUST have for any art book collection! I have them & they are my favorite!! I look at them all the time BEAUTIFUL!
Excuse me, but how could anyone dislike Brave?
That movie is just gorgeous. The character design are so lovely and all the backgrounds are just amazing and the story, so touching and sweet.
Not to mention all the little details with the designs but also in the way the characters interacting with each other... that movie deserves nothing but love.
Also the video was very nice. I'll definitely have to grow my collection a bit more ;)
YES! Zelda is my biggest inspiration too! Lol I even learned how to swim by watching how link swam and now I forever swim like a sideways frog
I LOVE collecting art books too! One of my all time favorites is the Art of Tarzan, a massive tome full of sketches, character designs (a TON of Glen Keane's art), and background paintings. Each chapter/section of the book was flanked by large sketches printed on heavily textured brown toned paper, almost like it was taken out of an actual sketchbook. It was a gift from my dad years ago that's continued to be a fountain of inspiration. It probably weighs like, 2 whole Mabels, but highschool me sure did haul that sucker around in my backpack EVERYWHERE.
Anyway Glen Keane is great, you're great and it was great of you to share your collection with us :D
It'd be so fun to watch a video on which video games/anime movies have the best artwork and why you liked them :)
Brave is an exceptional movie!! One of my fav art of books to!
So, I had to drop a comment. I have two daughters who want to go into animation (teens currently), and this is one of the best birthday/xmas shopping lists I could ever stumble upon- thank you!
Great collection but the art of Spiderman into the spiderverse is missing out...it's my first art of book and I have to say the art of the film was ridiculously over the top...I mean it'll be one of top fav if not no. 1
it's on my wish list, one of my favorite movies too! a couple of my friends did a ton of the art, so I've seen a lot of it already! I still want the book though
@@lulusketches wish I work there some day
I have all the movies to study the animation, they are great to watch over and over to pick out the details on movement.
Brave is also one of my top favorites as well
I loved Brave a lot, too. I don't recall crying at any other movie ever. I just really felt the whole "listen to your parents instead of yourself" plot so much. And the doing something and regretting it and just ...YES
Heh. You've probably gotten a ton of other recommendations, but Art of Rise of the Guardians is one of my top faves (the jacket has different art than the book!)
That is a fantastic collection!
So glad you’re still animating! TVPaint is awesome and you definitely have great books. I went to animation school, the first two were required and suggested books. I NEED that Ratatouille book
Omg Laura I took a small break from your channel, came back and YOU HAVE OVER 150K SUBSCRIBERS NOW! AMAZING
eyy... almost forgot about art books! I remember the first one I saw was a Tarzan one. It was so old, and nobody else wanted to read it because it wasn't a storybook. But I was soooo fascinated by it! I was like, "They make books like this?! Wow!"
Btw, I love Brave too! 😊
I have all 4 books, but if you love the art from the Zelda games, you need Art and Artifacts which was the next book after the Hyrule Historia.
Love your videos!
@Josh Rowe Creating A Champion is great but if I had to pick just one book, then it would be Art and Artifacts, without a doubt. I say that being a Zelda fan since the beginning. The art of the first 3 games is particularly nostalgic and special to me. :)
You bring back my love for drawing&disney! I love you so much❤️😍
Brave and the Robin Hood are my all-time favorites from Disney animated films! I think I know what I want for my next b-day🤔😊
I seriously never get tired of watching Tangled!❤ Brave is also really beautiful.
I looove Brave. It's my favorite movie of all of them. It's just.... PERRRRRFECT😍😍😍
Absolutely loved this video. The art of bools are truly beautiful and inspiring. Currently own the tangled and moana one but definitely planning for more 😊
I love how the editing takes her down a notch hehe
Great collection! I was lucky enough to meet Richard Williams when I was 16 or 17. Such a huge inspiration and his book is a must own for anyone interested in animation.
Have you see the “They Drew as the Pleased” series, really great series. Of books, latest volume comes out later this year.
Also have you ever removed the dust jackets from the Disney books? The actual board covers have fab individual designs
your number 2 and 1 is my favourite as well. I loveeeeeeee your number 1 BRAVE
My 3 favorite art books are:
- The Art of Rowena by Rowena Morrill
- Spectrum 5 by Arnie Fenner
- Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson
You're so honest and direct with art I learn so much from you :)
I loved Brave and I don't care if not a lot of other people liked it. I have the art of Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away and I'm saving for the Totoro and Princess Mononoke because I love those movies. I'm starting to learn how to play the viola and I might also pick up the violin so I'm also saving up for the ghibli movie sheet music because it's so pretty.
I bought that Animator's Survival Kit book years ago when I thought maybe I wanted to be an animator. What I learned was that I wasn't drawing nearly enough to even be on my way to doing classic 2d animation. Drawing more now though. Still think animation would be too hard for me.
Every birthday and christmas for the past 3 or 4 years, I think, my uncle has given me two "The Art of..." books. As an artist, they're probably some of the best gifts I have ever gotten!
Merida is my favorite princess, dont @ me! The aesthetic of the whole movie is spot on. Chase the wind and touch the sky.
Loved this video ! The "art of" collection looks amazing = need them on my shelf of wonders as soon as possible :) !
(And loved the way you say "Ratatouille" ^^). Thanks for your videos and can't wait to see what your next projects are !
I had no idea about this books... But as an illustrator myself, you made me feel like buying some of them, especially Zootopia and Ratatouille ;; Thank you for this!!
Absolutely loved this video! I have some of the books in my collection but I was so inspired to check a few more out! Thank you for such a great video!
Brave is hands down one of the best-animated movies ever made! SO different and interesting. love it!
I am so happy you shared your book collection ! So inspiring
it must be really cool looking at all of these books and watching animation movies from a vis dev perspective!
(also, gosh I love your art and your videos so much! the moment I saw that a new video was out I clicked so fast!!)
Thanks for sharing. My Amazon wishlist just got bigger!
Great idea - recommending books for instruction and inspiration. Agh, the books I've collected and read over the eons for photography & photoshop, for inspiration, instruction, teaching & lesson plan ideas. Being an instructor has the bonus/benefit of getting books to review for free since I recommend books for students to purchase. The public library is also a great source for these sorts of books too. I often donate my books to the public library or the local Free Library bookstand in my neighborhood.
You should really check out the art and making of the peanuts movie.
Its my all time favourite and has so much in it
Edit: The little prince art if the movie is my second and beyond incredible
ooh good one! my friend Ty Carter did a lot of art for that movie! and I've read the little prince but have yet to see it!
Can you do an updated Art Book Collection video?
Love you Laura 🌼
The Brave art book is The BEST totally agree!!
Could you do a nighttime routine from when you get back from work? Love the video!!
I have the whole trio of Zelda books! The Art and Artifacts book has SOOO much more art than Hyrule Historia, and it even includes the newer Zelda games!
Savannah Hays I have The Art and Artifacts book - I was going to suggest it too!!!
My state library has the Illusion of life and IT IS SO HEAVY. I've only really properly read through bits of it, the principles of animation, character design stuff and story
Ahh! I love art books! Your collection is great!
My favorites that I have are Visual History of Jim Henson's Labyrinth (Brian Froud!!) and my Avatar the Last Airbender art book!!
Hey Laura! I know you may not read this but l would love to know how it feels to be watching anything at all to do with Disney, Tangled in particular (its one of my favorites too) and knowing that you work for them! It is my dream job and I'm an aspiring artist who absolutely ADORES Disney! I love your work and your such an inspiration 🖤🖤🖤
Adding 2 my book bucket list! I really recommend the "Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse Movie" Art book on Amazon. The artwork is insane.
Yaaassss Brave is my favorite too! I need to get my hands on a couple of the ones you have!! ❤️ Thanks for sharing 😁
Thanks for sharing your books. I might need to do a vlog like this. Such a great way to share what books artists have. I hope other artists share their books too. I love my Big Hero Six book🤙🏽
Animators Survival kit!! Omg I used that in school and I loved it!!!😍🤩🥰💯✍📚🎨
Now I need them all 😭😭😭
What would be the best thing to do or have to get better with your art? Based off what you said at the beginning you can't learn from a book or tutorials bored you? Since you work for Disney and have the experience in the field then what can a artist do to get better? Just time patience and practice?
hey! I made a video called how to improve at drawing, it's here! ruclips.net/video/aJsphIFV_bQ/видео.html
My partner and I collect a lot of video game art books. I also love the Star Wars concept books. If you don’t find me in one of my favorite sections. I’m probably in this type of section in the book store
I loved Brave and Ratatouille!
This video made my art book loving heart SO happy!
I bought The art of Brave two weeks ago at the Annecy festival and I love it !!! I have been wanting for years and I am completely satisfied with the purchase. I really don't understand why there is so much hatred for this movie. As soon as I can I will also buy The Croods, because I love the work that Christophe Lautrette has done in this film
You're not the only one, I love Brave too :)
Thanks again for a super interesting vlog! From one artist to another -- you rock!
I love your videos because your voice is just so calming to me. Keep up the good work Laura!
I am not even kidding, I teared up looking at some of these drawings
Laura, you have become one of my biggest inspirations ever since I started watching your channel :D Thank you for making these videos!! 💕💕
Beginning of the video: "I'm just looking at her collection. It doesn't mean I have to have these books for myself."
End of the video: "MUST . . . HAVE . . . EVERY . . . BOOOOOOOK!!!!"
I feel like Art Of books are all I spend my money on these days. Tangled definitely is my favorite of the collection. Ratatouille also has some fantastic color pieces. I also used the art of books for pretty much all of my tattoos (Mononoke being my favorite, back to back with my Merida tattoo haha).
I love that outtro though
I loooved Monster Academy, all the visual development is absolutely amazing, and brilliant ! I definitely should buy the art book O.O
I got my Art of Brave book autographed by Merida herself. Best day of my life!!
I’ve ordered the book of “The Art Of The Polar Express” from Amazon, I can’t wait to read it!
Thank you!!!! I need to get those art of books!!!!!!!
I LOVE ART BOOKS!!!
Where do you buy your art books at? Do you buy your books at Disney since you work there?
why would Brave get a lot of hate? It's a really good movie and Meridas hair the enviroments and the music was all beautiful and they actually gave Merida an accent from her country.
Maybe Merida kinda bland like Elsa and like without their powers and tragedy it will just be a boring character
Ugh Princess Mononoke is the best.
2 minutes ago I was checking out ebay for my first artbook ever. I clicked your channel to see whats new and "my art book collection"
I got the signs
Buying that art of coco now
So beautiful LULU!!!!
I've always wanted to have Ratatouille art book. It is my most favorite movie of all time!
yassss stanning for HTTYD!
Fun Vid! @Lulusketches I hope you will show us some of your animation work sometime as you keep learning:) Also, it would be fun to see you do a new monster character design and do a voiceover or commentary of your thought process:) love your work!
And this is the video that started my art book collection addiction :] So far I've got Brave, Frozen 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and the Spiderverse artbook ^-^ I made a wishlist on Amazon and I always check what books have gone down in price then I quickly grab them lmao.
The art of Tangled would be one I would’ve interested in. I liked all the characters and look to that film. I think Bolt would be a film that would be interested in.
Oh my gosh, THAT COLLECTION
I watched The Croods after this video and are right, the lighting is amazing !
The Art of: Dishonored 2 is probably my pick for best art book out there
You are so beautiful and talented! Love your videos!
Ooh they look all amazing!
I still have really old manga how to draw books and they need updating.
I’ll have to get some of these specially The Croods I loved that movie. I’ll add some of these to my books wish list.
1 so glad the professionals collect these books too haha ;) 2 gurl, i hear you traveling with heavy books all the time.... 3 I am *completely* in your corner about Brave!!! It's one of my absolute favorite movies!!!
