    Guys like this are why I make a point to remember that it's not really the Reps as a whole who are the enemy.. it's a certain faction within them who are. The more reasonable Reps are certainly guilty of letting them get so strong because it helped them win... but that's a different sin.

      @Jim Alley Guess you're not very amenable to the view that looks obvious to me, that there is a uni-party seeking enemies to do war with--Syria, for example--and cheaper workers to fill job openings with. Therefore we have to have an America First movement to establish the zone of influence, that we shouldn't entangle abroad like the majority of seated Dems and repubs want to, and that we should not let foreign nationals implement an expansionist agenda into our country.

The made up imaginary crisis in the southern border for a wall you screamed from the top of your longs Mexico was paying for? For Trump siding with Putin over our own agencies? I'm not surprised you still support Trump since you of course believe in alternative truths and or as the other nut job believes that truth is not truth.
      I'm convinced that if Trump flew the Russian flag in the white house tomorrow you would excuse that too.
      BTW - What do you think about Trump's organization hiring illegal agents and going as far as getting them fake documents.
      Go and listen to Hannity and you'll be happier.

      Believing in limited government is the core base of a republican. Wanting a bigger more centralized government is the core base of a democrat. We have forgotten this, because for years we have concentrated on polarizing social issues more than governance. And because the media, whatever "side" it may be on, likes a click baiting narratives, which you're not going to get with reasonable people, so they highlight the extremist of the "opposing" side.

    • @TheBrothergreen
      @TheBrothergreen 5 лет назад +6

      @@nerdanalog1707 That's a very simplistic view of the roles of our two party system that is itself colored by "clickbaiting narratives."
      Democrats aren't afraid of having a big government, that's true, but it's hardly the underpinning ideology of the party.
      And Republicans, while I admit they stoke the fires of fear and ignorance about "big government" and the dreaded "socialism," if you look at their record (which is really the only place a reasonable person should look) they are just as "big government" as their democratic counterparts.
      And while it's true that both the liberal media and the conservative media tend to focus on the extremism of the other side, that decision is actually warranted on the liberal media's side, as Republicans are, in actuality, an extremist group with a cult-like following. There are more republicans in congress who believe that they were personally anointed by god to pursue some kind of crusade, than there are Republicans in congress who believe that climate change is real... and if that doesn't speak to what the reality of what the republican party has become, then look to your president.

    • @nerdanalog1707
      @nerdanalog1707 5 лет назад +3

      @@TheBrothergreen No, republicans are not an extremist group with a cult-like following. That is simplistic and false.
      And I wasn't simplifying the only 2 real parties that exist in the US, I'm just stating what their principles are at their core. If you are really into politics, that is what will determine your choice of which party to enter in. Then comes the rest, and within both parties there can be debates on how to obtain bigger or lesser government.
      Unfortunately, from what I understand, both parties are compromised and being bought off by lobbies and thus controlled by big companies.
      What both parties say, and how they tie it up in a bow for their electors doesn't matter. It is what they actually do that matters. Since the parties are both bought by the same companies, things won't really change, and the losers are still the American people.

      Both parties are already very similar in the political spectrum, however we are led to believe that they are somehow very different. An incredibly diverse set if ideas exist beyond these two parties. What we need are third and forth parties participating in the general election.
      And "unity" simply means, "Agree with me." Unity is great when you are the one who has popular support and is in power, but obliterates opposition -- opposition which is essential to democracy.

      Edit: I gave your comment a like because at least you didn't scream at me. That's rare for a youtube comment lol 😁
      A few points:
      1) I'm Indian and people make 7-11 jokes or all Indians are doctor jokes all the time. Should I get angry every time I hear someone, who I know is not racist, make such a joke?
      2) Stereotypes exist because there's a degree of truth to it. Is it completely fair? No.
      3) Is it Maher's responsibility if right-wing nutjobs aren't bright enough to understand stereotype-based humour? That's a bad burden to put on someone.
      4) Who decides this hierarchy of joke telling? Maher has not suffered and so cannot make black jokes. He's half-Jewish. Can he get offended if someone makes a Jewish stereotype joke? Millions of Jews have been killed and millions of black people have been enslaved. Which of these two groups can make jokes about the other? If we start assigning joke "quotas" to people based on the perceived (or real) hierarchy of their oppression, where does it end?

Instead of applauding his references, to me seems impressive, Bill seems he has to try and be cute and insult him because he is a Republican. I believe Mr. Hurd showed real class he continued on and ignored the stupid comment. Even though Maher continually tried to belittle the fact that he is a republican, Mr. Hurd continued to talk about the real problems instead of bashing the president.
