You can use Guardian hull reinforcements, they give less hull reinforcement but add caustic resistance at even though its at diminishing returns, so if you use them you want to install them on a couple of your smallest slots, as a class 1 gives same amount of resistance as a class 5.
A good way to see objects much further in the cloud than normal is to use a class A pulse wave analyzer.

Do they get damaged by the maelstroms though?

    • @jasperlit1345
      @jasperlit1345 Год назад +6

@@austinh1242 No, I think its because they dont use power maybe, not sure, but they dont degrade like all the rest of the guardian modules.

Once again, no frills, information rich. 👌
I have a 'hazardous environment' ship built. Enjoying pocking the inhabitants of Maelstroms to see what they do.

Can recommend going for a Clipper.
Mine runs at 14% heat clocking 445m/s (564m/s while boosting) with 3200 hull HP (absolute), multi-limpet and a fuel scoop. Has enough power for those new AX multis too. Or beams, whatever is your preferred poison.
Handles like a dream. Outright ignoring maelstrom turbulence. And with active heat at 14% you are pretty much invisible.
Low active heat also makes high wake interdictions rarer. At least from what I had experienced. On a standard ship I got intercepted five times before reaching that maelstrom. Clipper gets there with two or three tops (first one usually right next to the star with heat at 30+%).

@@OmegaPaladin144 RUclips automatically removes links. So, I will have to do it the old fashion way:
Military grade composite with heavy duty and deep plating (can go for RSC. It will give you the same amount of armor, but cost more)
5A Power plant with low emissions and thermal spread
6A Thrusters with clean and drive distributors
5A FSD with thermal spread (used the pre-engineered one)
6A Distributor with charge enhanced and super conduits (not really all that necessary, but it’s nice to have a boost ready every 3 seconds and all the power you need for any weapons)
5D Lightweight sensors (sensors are pretty useless inside maelstrom anyway)
      In the optionals:
7A Scoop (can swap for another 5D hull if you’d like, personally really enjoy fast scooping)
      5D Hull*
      4D Hull*
      3D Hull*
*all reinforced and with deep plating
2D Module reinforcement (just for kicks)
      4E Corrosion resistant cargo rack
3B Xeno or Operations multi-limpet (xeno for surge scans, operations for materials farming)
ADC & SA to fly for me most of the way
      Weapons you’d like.
I used new AX multi-cannons. Turreted 3s and fixed 2s. But will probably switch them for gimbals later.
      Utility:
      Two heatsinks with ammo capacity
Xeno scanner and a field neutralizer
All things considered, a pretty budget solution (about 150mil in Li-Yong space an half of it is paid for that 7A scoop) for what it gives you. And just for handling alone it beats the big three hands down.
You can also optimize it for more HP and/or more useful set of limpets. That's just what I've built to visit Taranis.

@@OmegaPaladin144 A bit of an update on weapons.
Ended up with two fixed advanced multi-cannons (range & auto-loaders) and two gimbaled enhanced 3s. Active heat went to 15% (still invisible), but now it’s also a pretty chill corrosive components farmer (advanced multis pop those generators in couple of seconds from a safe range) with a bit of a scout hunter potential.
So, my trips to maelstrom are now chill enough to go about them with a cup of coffee and a snack in hands.
      Can recommend.

I'm throughly convinced that Thargoids exist on another plane of existence. Like the Precursor's from Pacific Rim, who are able to create rifts to travel between dimensions fluidly. I bet the Maelstrom is one of their rifts.

Alright my first thought after seeing that repulsion is that things got a cool down. Is it possible for another cmdr to be nearby enough not to be pulsed and then just in after the wave?

    • @DryHeatAndSand

The pulse blows everything in the cloud out towards the edge. I doubt that any ship in the cloud would be close enough to boost in before the next pulse is ready.

You can find them under the thargoid war section of the galaxy map, they are marked with a red circle flag, if you don't see a flag then they are turned off, and have to be enabled in your map settings.
