Drillpro doweling Jig: amzn.to/496vnjW In this video I will make a modern desk with simple design My music channel: / totucool AT Restoration Plus channel: / @atrestorationplus
I always wondered "This guy is simply amazing at fixing old things, no matter what part is broken, he can fix it.... so surely he can make something entirely from scratch? Why doesnt he?" Thank you for proving that hypothesis! Very nice. Do you enjoy making from new as much as fixing old?
I have always thought the same thing. I'm sure he can make a TON of money designing and making his own items. Not that I would want him to stop restoring, though. There are too many awesome pieces out there that need his sweet touch!
@@karencox3235 I would think he could actually make more money restoring antiques than making and selling new furniture that would have to compete with the Ikeas of the world.
Very nice! I like the combination of paint and light wood. It's modern and fresh. I also like that you made the drawers free standing on casters so they can be used wherever it is convenient. Great job.
Simply amazing! Yours is my absolute favorite woodworking channel. The techniques and depth of knowledge you display is both educational and inspiring. Could this be adapted to a multifunctional craft room? I paint, sew, and do woodworking. Need a desk/bench in my craft room for cutting fabric and storing threads. Need another bench/desk for my woodworking in the garage. Any suggestions?
Wow! That’s a great looking desk. I bet you can build just about anything. Was this made for a client? As I’m watching you build, I was thinking about the masters of old & how they’d go about making the same table. I would imagine it would take a lot more than 12 days though. Wish you were here in Houston, TX as I have a few pieces I’d love to have you restore!
Wow 😲... that was amazing work, Ahti! 👍 Someone will be lucky to use this desk for many years to come because you built a quality piece of furniture. Thanks for the great content!
Ahti, I've often checked out the Drillpro but being a cheap a$$ I use the Milescraft Joint Pro. Not a s pretty and maybe not as durable but it has worked "OK" for me. As usual I ALWAYS look forward to your posts!
Hello Ahti That's a very interesting jig. What is the longest length board that you could put dowels in? That would be great for making a bookcase with adjustable shelves.
This channel is awesome, I’m a subscriber from Saskatchewan Canada, and a loyal watcher. I turn the sound off and watch the videos because it helps with my ADHD. Keep the videos coming please, I love the craftsmanship 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you, Ahti, for sharing your wonderful carpentry skills. Those were beautiful desks, simple, elegant, and very, very versatile. This was a fun video.
It's Always a Delight to Watch You Work. Clearly, You can do Anything! But the Video started part way through. Is there a Part 1 or was there some sort of Snafu in Editing? I do Enjoy the Process from Beginning to End.
Anti, I’m somewhat disappointed that you would make a commercial like this. I guess I understand that you need to make a living but still disappointed. Btw, that jig is a knockoff of the Jesse’s jig that has been out for years already.
Those rails.... They're too cheap for such sort of table. Also, plastic wheel will die after few years. Tlescopic rails is much better. Anyway, it's good and pretty accurate work. I liked it!
Are you a skiier or roller skater? Your stance while brushing and rolling on the varnish leads me to believe you are. Nice build! Thank you for sharing.
I’m not a big fan of those rotating locking devices. They seem to fail a lot if the table is subjected to any movement. I do like the style of your desk.
300 each 6 days of labor... £1000-2000 desk if you were selling them. Not sure I'd pay that for the simplistic design but it came out nice. I think the top probably could have been half as thick and you'd still be fine. You'd save a bunch in materials anyway. Also should have put some kind of wire pass through in the back to go into the wire tray. Outstanding work as always. Very inspiring
When doing mass production, there should be a discount on materials. Some of the works should be automated, like drilling the holes. Then maybe it takes only one day per table, instead of five days. The cost would still be around 800-1000€ because there are many other costs related to production, taxes and so on.
Hi, I have a question. The lamp on table is DIY or bought and if you made it, what´s the thing you used as "head" of lamp. Thank you for your answer. Great video!
Two pieces of furniture using totally modern construction and materials, not normally your style. Looks great, but something that you could probably pick up from any modern furniture store. I understand why you would need to make these. It’s probably proving a point that you can. I don’t know if I would want to watch you do this again, I’d rather watch you restore furniture.
Some enterprising dude or lady will find this many years from now and restore it while marveling at the awesome simple construction.
You do such great work, and I like to watch you create and do magic with the wood. You have all the best toys too. Have a wonderful day
It may be simple, but definitly not easy. Well done

Gorgeous early 21st century antique. One of a kind. Irreplaceable.
A good carpenter could do it.
There are 2. He just showed you in the video 😂😂😂
@@svenhurdurburdursson8765 Still irreplaceable to someone in the year 2124. 😀
Modern? Yes. Simple? Not the careful and detailed way you make it! This is stunning. Just beautiful. Also, I like your new jig.
That design is timeless. Beautifully done!
Making new things now? This is RUclips imperialism, AT!
😂
Have a look at the amount tools and equipments used, this is not simple at all!
The desk is simple, the process of making it... Not so much
Very nice! I like the combination of paint and light wood. It's modern and fresh. I also like that you made the drawers free standing on casters so they can be used wherever it is convenient. Great job.
Your work is always beautiful.
Far from your restorations but I like this very much too. Congratulations from France !
Beautiful! Simple and elegant!
Minimalism at its best 👍

I think you need more sturdy and heavier design for woodwork.
Wow! That’s a great looking desk. I bet you can build just about anything. Was this made for a client?

So beautiful ❤️. And I really love the Lamp on the table 😊
Me too! I wined if he made it. Wouldn’t surprise me if he did.
A virtuoso performing a beloved sonata with ease, utter professionalism, and confidence. A pleasure to watch and learn from. Thanks for posting.
Wow 😲... that was amazing work, Ahti! 👍
Someone will be lucky to use this desk for many years to come because you built a quality piece of furniture.
Thanks for the great content!
Beautiful work. You certainly got your money's worth out of that jig. I believe you could dance a jig on those desks!!!
Beautiful classic modern design. Love it. What a fun video to watch. Thanks Ahti.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos buddy, old or new you are a fantastic craftsman…👍🏻

Nice to see you make furniture from scratch. Such talent! ❤
I love the lamp too! Did you make it?
No. One Estonian guy makes them.
Much awaited, much appreciated excellent work as always from you.
such beautiful work ahti... always wonderful... aloha ✌️🙏🤙
Ahti, the desk was professionally constructed, great job, but I love, love the lamp.
Amazing, my friend, thank you!
they came out nice, ever thought of starting your own furniture brand :D?

Beautiful and clean. Very nice. The lamp was way cool.
It looks like the Drillpro device does the work of a drill press, only with portability. Yes? Thank you in advance. 🙂
Excelente trabajo y hermoso diseño. Gracias por compartirlo! Un abrazo!

I was shocked at the materials cost. I wonder what it would have been with SOLID wood? All-in-all, excellent work, compliments. Great outcome.
Anyone who thinks they can save money building this kind of furniture is in for a big surprise.
You can save a great deal if you buy used furniture and repurpose the wood. Unfortunately real wood in furniture is getting kind of rare...
The other thing to note is that the top was solid butcher block 3-4 inches thick? That's where most of his cost was on this piece if I had to guess.
Thank you, Ahti, for sharing your wonderful carpentry skills. Those were beautiful desks, simple, elegant, and very, very versatile. This was a fun video.
Nice desk, I like watching furniture builds as much as restorations
It is more difficult to make something brand new! Congratulations!😊
Both are BEAUTIFUL! And the lamp is cute too ❤
No offence, I prefer your old restoration videos.
No problem, the next one will be restoration again.
Lucky the student/worker who will get to use this elegant and functional work of art. Hope they subscribe! 😂
You are simply the best!
Beautiful. I’d love to have that in my workroom.
Very nice, clean lines and utilitarian.
You do beautiful work, sir!
You should make a chair (or two) to go with the desk.... 👀
What an elegant, yet simple desk! I love it!! The drawer handles are amazing. You're the BEST, Ahti!!!
Wow, we recently got a drill guide for better control, but that jig is like that drill guide times ten.
What a spectacle, Ahti! Like always! I look forward to your posts eagerly. Thank you!
You do beautiful work and it's a pleasure to watch. ❤
It's always compelling to watch someone with skill and expertise create something useful as well as beautiful. Kudos.
I would so love a table saw like yours.
This guy is amazing.
I’m not even half way through the video and I already love it. It’s very clear and well put together. Altogether, you make terrific videos.

Your craftmanship is fantastic.
I for sure thought the black parts were metal from the thumbnail 😂, love the finished product.
Современный стол из современных мебельных материалов. Немного непреввчно видеть такую работу, а не одну из невероятных реставраций.
Nicely laid out and more important clean shop
OK, mind blown. I couldn't see this coming.
wrong hole at min 3:50 😅
O projeto ficou lindo 👏
Única coisa que n gostei foi dessas corrediças

Fantastic design, sleek and efficient!

still the best furniture channel on youtube

Nice work and tidy worshop! Thanks for the written explanations, very useful!
I was thinking why don't wood workers use the locking cams and BOOM locking cams!

What would you get if IKEA knew how to make furniture?
Are you a skiier or roller skater? Your stance while brushing and rolling on the varnish leads me to believe you are. Nice build! Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful !
Отличная столярная работа и дешёвые направляющие для выдвижных полок. Стоило немного добавить и купить качественную фурнитуру.
Beautiful!!
Beautiful!!
Hi!👋
Gracias . Preciosa mesa de estudio. Por favor, explica por qué pasas el rodillo y luego la brocha
Very nice!
Hi! :)
Four dowels in-line. Take that IKEA! 😄
I’m not a big fan of those rotating locking devices. They seem to fail a lot if the table is subjected to any movement. I do like the style of your desk.
Top 👍
Beautiful and sleek design, excellent craftmanship.
Cool lamp)
Кропотливая, трудоёмкая, в тоже время восхитительная работа. Итог прекрасен. Спасибо за видос, лайк.
Beautiful work again Ahti. 👏👏👍
That’s an awesome saw. Can you explain the second saw blade and what’s it for thanks.
This is not simple work modern desk, but very good desk....
Herdins also got spirit based stains… and you can buy Herdins stain pigments to mix your own…
Where is that lamp coming from ??? It is awesome...

Nice job!
Well done they look great... did you make the lamp.. I love it 👍👍
Hi, I have a question. The lamp on table is DIY or bought and if you made it, what´s the thing you used as "head" of lamp. Thank you for your answer. Great video!
It is made by local craftsman. The top is made from motorbike engine side.
Move over, IKEA, there's a new gun in town.
