I feel like everybody is a test subject nowadays though because they really don't care about the citizens, but especially Black people. Just listen to the music that they give us (or don't, preferably.) Look at the food they try to feed us and the limited quantity of healthy items to choose from at any grocery store in our neighborhoods as compare to the ones in better/more affluent areas. I could go on forever about it. This movie really put it right in your face, and I'm just surprised they allowed it to be on a streaming service as big as Netflix.

This was an empowering film for Black middle class and lower class people (as well as all lower middle class people). The Gangs, pimps, prostitutes, Drug dealers, scammers and, regular civilians all put their heads together to protect their community. It was a great movie that says Black people CAN. We can work together no matter how much money we have and make a postive change. Most movies like this make Black people seem helpless or there is just ONE LONE black person to be a savoir. In this movie, the whole community were heroes by ALL doing their part and working together. I believe thats the real message.

Got all the aesthetic of the modern social media "Cinematic" vibes they nailed this movie! Its one of the best Netflix movies ive seen so far. IMO.
His performance as Fontaine was phenomenal.
If you haven't seen this film yet, I promise it's worth a watch.
The film is a bit of a slow starter but quickly evolves and keeps evolving.

Anytime I watch John I think how he is in line to be without a shadow of a doubt the next Denzel. Even Denzel’s son can’t compete in the believability department of this man. He has played some serious roles and every single one I believed his character was whoever he portrayed him to be. He has grown immensely from his days from “attack the block” from being the chubby stand in to now transforming himself to compete on the next level next to top tier actors. Great job man.
