I appreciate how much like herself Yuffie is as the goddess. You couldn't make it more fitting.
Yuffie's date is very "hanging out with your little sister".
Depends on how you look at it. Cloud certainly doesn't think anything of it, but Yuffie looks like she's developing an innocent little crush on the Skywheel. That's how I see it, but everyone can have their own little interpretations of their interactions, and that's what makes it my favorite of the dates.
And Red's was a "excited pet/little brother"
same with Nanaki, it's so good
6:38, it’s also nice that Tifa, Yuffie and Aerith play the part of Rosa a bit differently too, with slightly different lines.
I love the recontextualization of Aerith’s song in Tifa’s date- it seems more clear that Aerith is singing about Zack.
YESSSSS! HE DID IT. I asked Dan in a Q&A if we'd get to see this and he said probably not but I'm so happy he did! All the dates are so great and I love that they feel they can all co-exist and fit together. It's great.

This is delightful. A marvelous idea, ending this playthrough on a high note, spending time with our good buddies, rather than being terribly confused and frustrated. Much better closure. Thank you, Dan.
yuffie's date is SO adorable. i love how cloud plays along with her. babies!
The Date is a good example of them letting it breathe. Can you imagine the same scene, but it splits into 5 alternate universes with 5 different stamps and whispers fighting the party and then Sephiroth shows up for some reason and you all have a boss fight?

Why do I have the feeling that Cait's breakdown involved him slapping Vincent offscreen? XD

The Nanaki and Yuffie ones are so dang good, very fun and love that it isn't pushing a romantic "date" on Cloud. Also the final one is fantastic in its own way, I love the way it starts with Cait gathering who he can but can only get these few. It feels kinda like he's trying to have fun with the group knowing what he was about to do the next day and wanting one last hoorah, makes sense that way why he was so angry it wasnt working how he planned
No matter how you feel about some of the story changes, the work on fhe characters and their relationships is just so well done.

Yuffie is clearly the best date. No question. She's just fun to hang out with from beginning to end. Nanaki is a close second for much the same reason.
And I feel genuinely sorry for Cait Sith. To have to share a ride with the three grumpy guys would have to be the worst.
11:15, yeah, but for whatever reason, it really emphasizes "This is a performance!" to the media recognition part of my brain.

I forgot to make this comment in the previous video, but I feel I should still say it here. The next/last game is definitely going to be called "Reunion". It matches the whole "Re"-thing that they're doing and everyone keeps using that word in these games.
Anyways, it was great seeing the other dates. I like that Tifa finally got a kiss. Yuffie and Nanaki just have this "younger sibling who needs to be looked after" energy to their dates. The rest of the gang was really funny. Just very detached and stoic people forced to hang out in an situation together. Wish we got to see Barret's though.

It's pretty clear that the devs were having a blast with these sequences.
One last time to see all these characters, for now... Lots of mixed emotions I expect most of us will be dealing with the whole wait for the last game. It's really nice to be reminded of the details like special music and little animations that go into scenes like these, as well as appreciate the great voice acting all throughout.
I love barret’s date night! It’s still kinda silly like the original game, but it becomes so wholesome near the end 🥰
Also, one (or three) of the party showing up at Cloud's door with an extra ticket they "just happened to get", but then everyone else always being at the play anyway, but separately, implies that the gang got together *in universe* and compared sidequest notes to decide which of them was closest to Cloud and would get to invite him.
tifs does seem to bring the better out of cloud compared too aerith. I think she respects his character more, forces him less

Well multiverse theory is apparently canon in this game, so I see no reason why all the dates can't be simultaneously canon.

Now that it has been a day, how do we all feel about the ending of Rebirth?
Because me personally, I'm still confused: is Aerith Dead? Is she Alive? Is she still Best Girl?
Is Cloud able to see between worlds, or has he finally snapped?
And then there is the friend-shaped question mark that is Zack Fair: where does he go from here?
I love Square Enix games, but Dan was right: they really do have a nasty habit of putting suspense above stakes: I want a bland and vanilla story, but I would like something a little more straightforward sometimes

This episode alone is proof that the multiverse theory is the correct explanation to what's going on.
The convergence, aka Reunion, of timelines.
(you could even call it a Homecoming, really)
It's kinda weird, and surprising, how a bunch of the play is kinda telling about the ending of the game, and even how the events of Rebirth are going to go.
"What is the future, if not the product of choices past? *Each, a fork in the road.* None can divine the conclusion of every path. And yet, *all tales that begin with a chance encounter share the same end: a tearful farewell"*
For some reason, I kinda hoped that the dates were just with Aerith, just so the story would be more definite and make sure that the player makes ample bonding with Aerith before, you know, _spoilers for the end of Rebirth_ (now we finished it and it was on the tightrope, we can continue making the joke of it being a spoiler, like in the good times).
In the original FF7 you can go on dates with Tifa, Barret, and Yuffie in addition to Aerith so if that feature was removed it'd be extremely unfortunate. A lot of people looked forward to this even before Rebirth was announced.
Perhaps they didn’t need to go into as much detail as they did for loveless, but the Skywheel definitely had to remake at least the characters from the original
I only kind of wish the dates paired up characters other than Cloud. I think a Nanaki and Yuffie date would be really fun. Or Barrett with either Tifa (a little talk about Jessie and Avalanche) or one of his adopted kids (Nanaki or Yuffie). Also, for the heck of it, bring Zack in to reunite with Aerith or Cissnei. If you're gonna make a mess, then at least commit fully to the multiverse, cowards!
