I absolutely LOVE this whole iceberg thing! Cause honestly, I wondered about a lot of these as a kid. Especially where the painting worlds are, and how they came to be. And I’m just happy there’s some thought and hype around it!
I absolutely loove how well-made Bruh's Wario apparition video is. Other "apparitions" merely rip off Wario's Mario Party 64 design or something, but they made a custom Wario model and animated the entire scene in Blender to replicate the beta SM64 replica ROM, ripping assets and everything. I’m so glad you did a video on this because the first time I seen a video on it, the guy opens with “by this point you all should know what the Iceberg is so there’s no need to talk about it.”
The "Wario Apparition" is hilarious to me because it's Wario head. And it's called the Wario apparition for god's sake, that just sounds hilarious. But then there's the fact that if you see it you need to burn your cartridge and surround yourself with salt or something. FOR A WARIO HEAD IN YOUR MARIO GAME. yOu WaNt FuN? wArIo ShOw YoU fUn
I love these video game creepypasta theories that suggest things were expunged from the game code for being too creepy, or causing bizarre crashes. But these creepy pastas all lose me when they start promising real life damage like strokes or insanity, or they read into your subconscious or dumb crap like that.
Burning the cartridge is overkill and will do absolutely nothing to protect you. The Wario Apparation uses flashing imagery and loud sounds to attack it's victims, so surrounding yourself with salt will do literally nothing to prevent Wario from attacking you. The Wario Apparition is confined to the game world and can't crawl out of your tv like some B-grade horror movie, that's just ridiculous. Overall I do agree that the procedures he describes are absolutely unnessecary and stupid.
I’d love for somebody to make a rom hack of Mario 64 where all of these rumors and creepy stories can all be true. Actually running away from the Wario apparition or chasing after a king Bob-omb’s son.
Btw in case anyone was wondering, the Wario head thing originated from an old Mario 64 ad, and when fans saw the screenshots, they started making fan games of Warios head chasing Mario.
Hey tertabitgaming, I have a story to tell you about MY Mario 64 game. On a Sunday day, I was with my aunt, I thought,” hey, I should play Mario 64.” I did, but like you said, every Mario 64 game is personalized... I put in Mario 64 into my Nintendo 64, the game was just fine, I played in a different save slot, the intro was just fine, but when I decided to swim in the lake surrounding the castle, but when I got to a specific spot, I almost peed my pants. It was a dead Mario with his foot attached to a chain IN the water, the corpse drowned. After that experience, eve Every time I play Mario 64, i will never feel the same playing Mario 64. Hope you liked my story! ;)
When watching this, I remembered something from my childhood. I used to always have "nightmares" when I was a kid (nightmares meaning anything remotely creepy in my dreams cuz i was a wuss as a kid) about Mario 64 back in around 2007(i was around 6 at the time). I'd have these dreams where i would be playing Mario 64 and then i'd go to turn off the console but it wouldn't turn off, and the game would start playing itself and it would go to this weird place in the castle that i can only describe as the smb3 gba e reader castle room but 3d with white walls instead of pink, which is where the Mario head from the start screen would show up and play the game over theme on loop(which i was scared of as a kid for some reason). I don't remember what the Mario head would do or say as this was years ago, but i remembered i would go to my tv to turn it off, but it wouldn't turn off either. This was a recurring nightmare when i was little. Also another thing that happened when I was a kid with Mario 64 was that id' be playing it and the game would freeze and play really loud noises like taking a cartridge out of a gba when its playing sound, it would happen anywhere in the castle, but for some reason it would mostly happen in the middle of the stairs going down to the basement. I always thought that my game was just broken and we had to get a new one, but it still scared me every time. at around 2008, me and my sister pulled an all-nighter playing star war:shadow of the empire, when the console turn off and wouldn't turn back on, We thought it just overheated, so we left it for a day, but it still wouldn't turn back on. I thought my parent threw it away, but 2017-ish, we found it in a box. It wouldn't turn on at first, but after fiddling around with the carts and the cords, we got it to turn on. since then, I've been playing Mario 64 a lot, and the game freezing hasn't happened since, so i don't know what was going on with that.
In Tetra's nightmare: Tetrabitgaming: Why am I in the basement hallway? Wario: You want fun? Wario show you fun! Tetrabitgaming: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE TETRA!
I wish the Iceberg had my “conspiracy” that Wet Dry World is just a giant dumpster made by giant people from the background that holds a model of their city.
Peach having mediocre security is being super generous Especially when her "guards" run in terror from the CREATURE TRYING TO KIDNAP THE PERSON THEY'RE GUARDING
Yes peaches security is literally the worst thing you could imagine because apart from Mario everyone who protects her does nothing and just like in the game the door could be opened by anyone even a few koopas
As crazy as these are, I'm still glad to see Super Mario 64 get attention even to this day. Retrospective reviews, mods, Cutting Room Floor info, and crazy theories like these are great to see!
I would love to see more of this content, as someone who's played the game hundreds of times but doesn't really know much about the lore (I knew about the whole Luigi being a character and all that b's but that was about it), I'd love to learn more about this game that practically raised me. Great vid Tetra!
Thanks for taking my request! This video is awesome just like all of your videos. I really like the mysteries that are still unsolved in Mario 64, from rumors, unsolved things, the unknown. Its awsome!! I actually discovered the ice burg recently and love the things that people did. I really like the "Every copy of Mario 64 is personalized" creepypasta too! Thanks!
I am really enjoying this renaissance of N64 game internet rumors, it's like an update to all of those Geocities and Anglefire homepages full of Zelda 64 and Mario 64 'hidden secrets' and rumors I would pour over back in '99-2000.
I'd love to see another part! These rumors of personalized anomalies in certain copies of Super Mario 64 really take me back to the glory days of playground rumors, before the internet was such an easily accessible source of info and fact checking. I really missed those days, but getting to see them make a comeback through all these new rumors has pretty much reignited my love for this game and the series.
I believe that the whole warriors apparition thing has been completely blown out of proportion, as from my understanding, it all started with screenshots of spaceworld demo from before the game released - I guess originally intended to be a demo of the opening screen (where you can mess with Mario’s face) but with Wario’s instead. It make sense with the whole pushing to make warriors a bigger character in the series
Hello! I'm the writer of the Child of King-Bomb Omb page. I'd like to say, thank you for looking at my article! It's mainly inspired by things like the SCP foundation; Instead of making something based on horror, I make it more intriguing than anything. The warnings' vague nature help with this; Fear of the Unkown, and all that. I'll def be adding many, many more rules in the future!
Some of my favorite myths Big boos unused text: a sinister unused voice line that is used in the final game but has never been documented without using romhacks/cheats, players believe accessing this dialogue could even open the forest area. Dont become his lunch: a sign in hazy maze has a sentence that refers to dory as being able to eat the character, dory cant hurt the character, so people think dory could 1 hit kill the character under the right circumstance. All of marios deaths where motion captured: some of marios death animations look to slick to be animated by a 3d modeler, and during the development of Mario 64 the mario head in mario teaches typing could of been implemented to make the death animations more graphic for whatever reason. Riding on yoshi: the saddle that yoshi uses when you meet him is fully textured and its own model that yoshi possesses, this sparked a rumor between my school where if you aim the canon at the right angle you can ride yoshi without triggering the dialogue. (Please tell me im not the only one) The quadruple jump: ive read this in a forum once, but it states that if you get all 120 stars in a certain time peach at the end of the game would be suprised and joyful for mario, making the kiss that mario gets from peach a powerup making mario jump a higher 4th time, this 4th jump would actually let mario access the peach stain glass and play it out like a secret level.
Its important to note that these are not always 'myths'. Instead these are popular topics of discussions related to Mario 64. Like the obscure Whomps Fortress 1Up.
@@UltraAryan10 oh well when i was in school a friend told me "if you found all the secrets 1ups you would get a secret star" and i thought it would be connected to whomps 1up in some way, but yeah know i fixed it to only apply to myths
There wasn't a quadruple jump, but the Nintendo Power Player's Guide (made and published by Nintendo themselves) says that your _triple_ jump changes after you collect all 120 stars. It makes Mario jump higher and farther while also making him invincible to either enemies or fall damage.
If you watch Swankybox's video on this, he showed something about the whole "personalized copies" thing that actually makes sense: Sometimes people would use cartridge-tilting combined with gameshark codes on their N64 to make some weird things happen with their games. One of those things was having the game change in weird ways (making Link's shirt black in TLoZ:OoT, etc). People would also rent games from gaming rental places back then too. If you combine the two together, you get someone who thinks that they rented a "personalized copy". Just something that I thought was interesting :)
The only thing that's pretty credible is the "Wet-Dry World Negative Aura" thing. The atmosphere to that level definitely is weird compared to the rest.
There's one theory that I can closely relate to, and that'll be the negative aura from Wet Dry World. Personally when I play the game and get sent to wet dry world, I feel like shutting the game off, it's because the stage looks dead to me if it makes sense,,, and since the entire stage is blocked off by walls, it makes you feel like your trapped and you can't get out, and me being claustrophobic it makes me feel uneasy. Even the hidden town in wet dry world also makes me feel uneasy and probably makes me feel wrose than it was in the main stage since once you enter the town and play with the water levels to make it smaller, you can't get out, you are trapped in a flooded town. Just imagine mario not be required in getting a star there, Mario would be trapped there, all alone in the town that is just lifeless. The level is nothing but a wet waste land, and easily one of my least favorite levels in Mario and videogames as a whole.
I get what you mean. And it's SUPPOSED to feel dead. The city was abandoned, leaving only some robotic enemies. But I am glad that you at least have a solid reason for feeling that way rather than something like "The level is actually alive and using psychic power to make me sad" like some other people have claimed.
It's funny, even though I personally used to own a special Majora's Mask cartridge I still automatically dismiss any secret that says "In certain versions of the game." My situation was I had a copy of Majora's Mask where you could play Saria's Song and it would bug out the game causing the music to change and eventually the screen would turn red and part of the owl statue teleport animation would play as it crashed. I've tried looking it up and I've seen that apparently a gameshark code exists for it but I wasn't using a gameshark.
Sometimes games that use rewritable memory chips can have changes persist if they are written to certain memory locations and then the game is saved. It's possible that someone used a GameShark on it at one point and it wrote the change to the Flash memory in the cartridge.
About the hidden level in Dire, Dire Docks thing... pannenkoek2012 did a video where, through cloning, he got rid of the gate door. He found that it was just like it normally is without the gate door, but without the physics pulling the player in.
I kinda love the idea of someone renting an M64 cartridge, modding it to add some of these weird things later in the game, and giving it back to the store for some unsuspecting kid to play. Personally while I don’t believe any of these creepy pastas I do love that schoolyard rumours about games I love are still somewhat alive and well, I always find these stories really fun to think about. Something about a hidden history to a game you grew up with is so interesting.
I love that most of the theories in the iceberg are positive and more possible than other game theories of other games! I usually not into game theories due to they often have extreme claims or have negative tones.
@3:15 I remember this as a kid. I can't find any videos of it on RUclips. I remember playing it with dark sky and trees and vines and sidewalks. Fences.
Maybe the mere fact that they not only claim that Wario is in the game, not only that he's an enemy, but that he's a ghost, a disembodied head, and that you have to run from him in a suddenly extremely long hallway while the "creepy" sound from the Infinite Staircase plays. Or maybe because the whole thing sounds like a TF2 G-Mod video, like Painis Cupcake.
Im not a super fan of creepypastas, but I have to give some credit to some Mario 64 videos here on RUclips, they are creative and well though, using assets and models from the actual SM64 beta and some of them even use the Japanese original Mario voice (you know, the screaming very high pitched one). That's some very nice attention to detail that I never saw on creepypastas from other franchises
I've never heard of the Bob-omb kid! That one wasn't listed on the iceberg image, was it? I'd love to see another video! Even though most of this iceberg stuff is clearly fictional or misinterpretation of facts, it's still a lot of fun to explore. It reminds me of the days of old where your imagination could just run wild. If you're interested, I even made my own observation after booting the game up recently. I was taking special note of the skyboxes and there was something peculiar about the skybox in Bowser in the Dark World I'd never noticed before. It actually reminded me a lot of the Hell Valley Sky Trees. If you look up at the top of the skybox in-game, you can see what appears to be multiple creepy-looking mountain-sized goombas crying from hollowed out eyes and gaped mouths standing on a cliff in the distance just above all the stalactites. I've yet to gain interest in this topic but it was a really interesting find I'd like to see touched on. The image I'm seeing is more likely just more stalactites hanging off a ceiling with strange lighting offering a weird perspective, but it still looks bizarre enough to me to be intentional.
Turns out the "Bob-omb Prince" was just speculation on how an unused enemy design would have behaved. It was like an E-Series robot from Sonic Adventure that got reworked into Chukya because it didn't fit the game's visual style.
one guy (anonymously) talked to me about the story when he's playing SM64. He was streaming Little Mix song, while playing the game. but when he exited the jolly roger bay course, almost every textures in the castle walls are replaced by a picture of Jade thirlwall, Jesy nelson replaces Toad, Peach was voiced by Leigh-anne, and Latiku's face was just Perrie. and he was asking himself "how did they enter the SM64 game?". he continued explored the castle until the hallway of the "Dire, Dire Docks", in which, Little Mix themselves appeared just as Mario proceeds to enter the portal or the Bowser in the fire sea, and starts chasing Mario, and then just as they near Mario, the game crashes. turns out that the A.I is the cause of this. Every copy of Super Mario 64 is personalized.
Tetra: the apparition can be anyting. Me: sees the koopalings. Option A: turn off the console. Option B: run away. Option C: run at them like a idiot. Me i will regret this.
The son of king bob-omb bit really shocked me because I distinctly remember having a dream when I was young in which I was playing super Mario 64 and there were a bunch of brightly colored king bob-ombs giving me quests
fun fact: there are 3 steps if you find the wario appartion, step 1- Turn off the console, step 2- Put yourself in a salt circle, and step 3- Burn the cartridge. i think if you don't,wario might haunt you...or worse...
Because of this SM64 iceberg meme I decided to play this game again. I think all these creepypastas were created to attract attention of young audience to old games, nothing more.
Do "can you beat Mario64 with the Wario Apparition always chasing you?" Where it has 3/4 the same speed as mario running, and never stops following you
This is a good video, I really love gaming urban legends, mysteries. They remind me of the old playground rumors like Brutus from animal crossing and Toad in Super Smash Bros Melee I hope you do more videos like this. And also i'm I the only one who misses these type of gaming mysteries?

Overall I do agree that the procedures he describes are absolutely unnessecary and stupid.
yeah but the reason you have to is that he'll come out of the TV and start destroying your town and eventually the world
I’d love for somebody to make a rom hack of Mario 64 where all of these rumors and creepy stories can all be true. Actually running away from the Wario apparition or chasing after a king Bob-omb’s son.
Btw in case anyone was wondering, the Wario head thing originated from an old Mario 64 ad, and when fans saw the screenshots, they started making fan games of Warios head chasing Mario.
Looks like I is real was just the tip of the ice berg for Mario 64 mysteries.

Hope you liked my story! ;)
Ummmmm no reply by 3 years wow
I know the true way to escape the apparition. When you see Wario head, give him garlic so that he will be distracted and you have a chance to escape.
The Child Bomb might have just been a Cut/Unfinished Ally that helps you find Stars.
maybe i mean it could of been like his dad was a jerk
Maybe he lead you to a Game Crash For Evil!
Do u know where U could find more about this myth

The guy who made it up commented on the video. The description is similar to a cut enemy from the beta, but otherwise the rest is made up.
In Tetra's nightmare:
Tetrabitgaming: Why am I in the basement hallway?
Wario: You want fun? Wario show you fun!
Tetrabitgaming: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE TETRA!
Why would tetra tell himself to run
@@herothecrow994 Eh, must've been his mind to tell him to run. Idk, don't ask to much question.

I would love to see more of this content, as someone who's played the game hundreds of times but doesn't really know much about the lore (I knew about the whole Luigi being a character and all that b's but that was about it), I'd love to learn more about this game that practically raised me. Yes I needed info on the Wario Apparition. Because I've been seeing that alot on RUclips.

06:02 wait they're confined too ?
I believe that the whole warriors apparition thing has been completely blown out of proportion, as from my understanding, it all started with screenshots of spaceworld demo from before the game released - I guess originally intended to be a demo of the opening screen (where you can mess with Mario’s face) but with Wario’s instead. It make sense with the whole pushing to make warriors a bigger character in the series
Warriors.
Someone saw the demo, or a screenshot of the unfinished game, or something, and said "Oh, what if it's this?" and speculation turned into rumor.
Can you please describe what it looks like? Is it just a smaller King Bob-Omb?
Thanks for making it !
@@TetraBitGaming No problem!!
@@mattfromwiisports9414 Yeah, but without the 'stache.
Huh. Glad someone came out and said "I made this up." Wonder how many will see it, though.
Some of my favorite myths
Big boos unused text: a sinister unused voice line that is used in the final game but has never been documented without using romhacks/cheats, players believe accessing this dialogue could even open the forest area.
(Please tell me im not the only one)
The quadruple jump: ive read this in a forum once, but it states that if you get all 120 stars in a certain time peach at the end of the game would be suprised and joyful for mario, making the kiss that mario gets from peach a powerup making mario jump a higher 4th time, this 4th jump would actually let mario access the peach stain glass and play it out like a secret level.

I would love to see an entire video explaining the entire iceberg. This is the most interesting creepypasta I've seen in a long time.
It would either have to gloss over too much or would be hours long.
Me: Give me a match.
Theorists: Concerned noise.
*Someone makes bad theory*
Someone: hey, that’s clearly fake!
“Well, it’s only in certain personalized copies...”
I agree
4:38 thats the outside of the merry go round room
Imagine walking into the hallway and hearing “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”
im gonna need a 2 hour long video going over the entire iceberg please
It'll need to be longer than that.
3:08 "This theory could still hold some *water*." Was that a pun?
I’d love to see a ROM hack with all of these and more from the Iceberg. This is such an interesting concept! :)
The only thing that's pretty credible is the "Wet-Dry World Negative Aura" thing. The atmosphere to that level definitely is weird compared to the rest.
this is why mario never went back to yemen
People making up things so they can say they have a different version of SM64
“Every copy is personalized bro”
The answer to why there's no sign of Bowser breaking into the castle is, "It's 1995, how the hell are we supposed to render that!?"
Also the front door is unlocked.
These "myths" are real, and obviously these couldn't be found in the games files, because the dumped game didn't have it.
(no.)
Acctually makes sense.....
The Decompilation is censored though
It's funny, even though I personally used to own a special Majora's Mask cartridge I still automatically dismiss any secret that says "In certain versions of the game." My situation was I had a copy of Majora's Mask where you could play Saria's Song and it would bug out the game causing the music to change and eventually the screen would turn red and part of the owl statue teleport animation would play as it crashed. I've tried looking it up and I've seen that apparently a gameshark code exists for it but I wasn't using a gameshark.
You should try starting a new save file, maybe someone is messing with you with a gameshark
Sometimes games that use rewritable memory chips can have changes persist if they are written to certain memory locations and then the game is saved. It's possible that someone used a GameShark on it at one point and it wrote the change to the Flash memory in the cartridge.

There’s many more versions of this wario apparition

I love that most of the theories in the iceberg are positive and more possible than other game theories of other games! I usually not into game theories due to they often have extreme claims or have negative tones.
@3:15 I remember this as a kid. I can't find any videos of it on RUclips. I remember playing it with dark sky and trees and vines and sidewalks. Fences.
Idk why but the name "The Wario Apparition" is the funniest thing to me
Maybe the mere fact that they not only claim that Wario is in the game, not only that he's an enemy, but that he's a ghost, a disembodied head, and that you have to run from him in a suddenly extremely long hallway while the "creepy" sound from the Infinite Staircase plays.
I"ve been waiting for this since it was announced
Bit Bob Apparition is what I see when I load a TetraBit Video

The Wario Apparition is the only modern creepypasta I like.
The son of king bob-omb bit really shocked me because I distinctly remember having a dream when I was young in which I was playing super Mario 64 and there were a bunch of brightly colored king bob-ombs giving me quests
I don't know why but the Wario Apparition scares me a LOT more than it should
Make more of these please. A lot more. Every mystery. All of them.
fun fact: there are 3 steps if you find the wario appartion,
step 1- Turn off the console,
step 2- Put yourself in a salt circle,
and step 3- Burn the cartridge.
i think if you don't,wario might haunt you...or worse...
This is good to watch while it's 11:16 pm on my bed!
Because of this SM64 iceberg meme I decided to play this game again.
I think all these creepypastas were created to attract attention of young audience to old games, nothing more.
Finally... a creepypasta that is a polar opposite of what Sonic.exe tried to be, but better.
Do "can you beat Mario64 with the Wario Apparition always chasing you?" Where it has 3/4 the same speed as mario running, and never stops following you
So basically the green demon but bigger and re textured
This is a good video, I really love gaming urban legends, mysteries. They remind me of the old playground rumors like Brutus from animal crossing and Toad in Super Smash Bros Melee I hope you do more videos like this. And also i'm I the only one who misses these type of gaming mysteries?
