Dude, this is two spooky four me, I've seen this. I bought a copy of Mario 64, at an old person's garage sale, but the label was torn off and had the words "Bing Bing Wahoo" written in non-distinct black marker (Sharpie). Everything was normal up until I got to Dire Dire Docks, Wario's Apparition's eyes bled at me and he had a hyper-realistic mustache.
Dude, I played it too! But since every copy is personalized, my experience was obviously different. As soon as I turned on the hyper realistic game, it turned to static and hyper realistic blood ran down the hyper realistic screen. Then I heard a voice. It was extremely low but because I apparently have super ears, I could hear exactly what it was saying (wow)! It said “I’m coming for you...”. I quickly kept on playing the game unlike running out of the house like an idiot. Then Wario’s hyper realistic face came for me! I’m dead now. So yeah that was my 101% real Mario 64 beta experience!!!!1!
I hate how they use “the stages seeming off or different” as something to build up tension, if it’s supposedly a beta build, of course it’s going to be different.
Speaking of wired versions of Mario 64 the version I’ve played was really wired For some reason you start the game as yoshi and even Luigi and wario were in it and it wasn’t even in the Nintendo 64
"How can this unfinished build be incomplete and diffrent and how can there be a sublevel that does not work?" This feels more like a parody on people who do not understand what betabuild means because everything except the wariostuff and the end is completely legit as a thing that could theoretically happen without creepy implication(even the interior-thing. The brain could just be a corrupted texture that happens to look like one and the rest just seems like a level that is just not functional and the lack of random crash being pure luck).
I loved the iceberg craze while it lasted. Really felt like those old playground rumours from way back when. Some icebergs were bad, some where good. Either way, it made me feel nostalgic.
I played the 1995 build, Wario came out of my TV literally as I turmed the console on, and now he just sits there... _*menacingly*_. He's still there to this very day and tbh I've gotten used to it

In my copy I remember seeing this giant Wario head come out of the cave level and never understanding why. Then I saw him chase me in the infinite stair case part in the final bowser door and after I turned off the game I never saw it again. Always thought I had a hacked copy.

Many of these writers don't realize how incomplete an early build is. You can't even play dev builds on commercial consoles in most cases.
