Transits do not deserve to be the top selling van/commercial. I have ran Ford cars for 38 years and commercials for 30 years. They used to be simple and reliable but not now. The Mk4 and Mk5 Transit minibuses had the fantastic Di engine, slow but unbreakable. That is what the Diesel engine was designed for, reliability, fuel economy but not 'performance'. Despite careful washing the under wings and treating the underside of my Transits, they still rotted like hell. The build quality of Transits is rubbish. Now they have the wet belt design. They must be on a bankruptcy mission. I would never buy another Ford again.

I agree. I had the 55kw TDDI engine.. slow, low power, but 500000 km without service on fuel pump or injectors! Stupid alternator or starter motor... Oil, water... Simple things.. two weeks a go I sell MK7 2.2 TDCi 96kw.... Turbo KO, Injectors KO... Broken pistons!! Service price about 6000€.….. This is car? You now what ist this a .... Old poor man Henry Ford in crying and rotating on cemetery, when he looks what cars are making under his name... Ford were cars about in 50's -90's... Not now.... This is only poor economy support for this damaged world..... But not in Ford but other cars too..

The trouble with Ford van owners is , that they dont know anything else & have a refusal to look at other makes. Ford buyers never buy anything else but Ford. Ive tried to change there train of thought many times, but they are all stuck in there ways.

I can afford new transits but they are shitt
The best transits were mk3 diesel they could do 500,000 with just servicing and still keep going
The mk4 could do a diesel pump, but never a engine

Had one with 150,000 miles on it, smoking badly, with enough crankcase pressure to push oil out of the turbo seals and drip out of the exhaust, causing a huge cloud of smoke around the van every time i came to a stop.. someone told me to check the injector seals. 3 of them were covered in carbon, so £10 of parts and an hours work and it was fixed. Don't like these engines either, but i wonder how many are misdiagnosed as f""""", and just need this simple fix.

TDCI engines suffer from a number of user problems, owners listening to these muppets who tell you i can save you 10% of your fue by leaning the mixture in the ecu but by doing this you are brewing nitrous oxide in the cylinder and we all know you put nitrous to an engine to make it faster nitrous also increases thr burn temp , = melting pistons also a little side note to this if you labour the engine you will cause a lean burn condition ( and lead to piston melt so if your a lasy driver that does not change down a gear when required your causing the piston melt

Have a fleet of these at work and looked after in house by the fitters 😂 the box vans are absolutely awful now with 150k on. They are used and abused on recycling rounds where you can’t get a truck to. The old favourite is limp mode due to dpf. The cage vans all tippers used generally lighter usage are ok but only have 80k on them now.
Unfortunately fitters are a fickle bunch, one box van had an oil leak so the fitter put a rag there to stop the oil, topped it up and said job done, oil soaked rag then went to a nice hot part of engine or exhaust and then smoke everywhere, the actual mechanic come out and discovered it and brought it back to be fixed properly.
