One way to lower inflation is to raise taxes on middle class. Inflation is also just a tax. If we don't want either one - STOP govt. spending! It's gotta come from somewhere, there's no free lunch.

Raising taxes in and of itself won't change inflation one way or the other. To lower inflation you have to decrease the supply of money and credit/debt in the economy. Raising taxes doesn't do that - what you do with the tax revenue determines that. If you pay down debt with the tax revenue, or even convert the revenue to cash and burn the cash, that should lower inflation proportionately. If you spend the money in the economy, you will lower inflation (by increasing GDP) _only_ to the degree that the taxpayers wouldn't have spent that money (thus increasing GDP) on their own. Finally if you use the money as part of a spending package that exceeds the revenue, you'll actually make inflation worse because you're increasing the amount of credit when you already have too much in the economy. So it comes down to this question: do you trust this Congress to spend less than it collects in tax revenue? Because the majority of Congress has given multiple signs of wanting to do the exact opposite.
