- The Sepdiurnal Virus is rapidly changing and the Red Moon Phenomenon now occurs every single night... In this playthrough I'll be spinning a wheel to determine the difficulty each day (aka viral mutation/evolution). Some days will be easy, others will be very hard! And each day there will be a horde night. How long can we last before we're overrun by the undead?!

👉Head Shots: Zombies ONLY take damage from head shots

I had a mine once, near the bridge at the back of the farm coming into Diersville from the top way....massive and further away. In Alpha 18 they tunnelled through that mine to my base, double the distance away..... i now put hatches on ALL MY MINES LOL!
Yeah a hatch entrance is probably best - with the threat of the wandering hordes and screamers I thought a nice open mine would be safer, particularly in the early goings
With how quiet the day was, I can't shake the unsettling feeling that something is about to go absolutely FUBAR in the very near future. Keep that head on a swivel, Tem, and always watch your six!
Can't wait to see the firehouse in black and red. Also, this has to be the swingiest series you've done in terms of difficulty. Thankfully, when it's not on the high end, you're handily outpacing the difficulty ramp, but I feel like this particular gimmick is one you might want to revisit in future series. Maybe not for everyday hordes, but re-rolling zombie stats for the following week after every blood moon seems like a lore-friendly and interesting play factor.
Yes yes, I love seeing awesome farming set ups- building and gardens are my happy place. ❤ Also the musical synch was next level in this one, incredibly satisfying.
The question then is - where should I put the garden?

@@GunsNerdsandSteel I personally don’t like having my options limited so I’d be growing them in that huge space out the front- space to grow trees if I want, experiment with all kinds of crops. I was looking at the roof and it seems- uninviting- for anything but a tiny garden (and changing the aesthetics of the entire roof line, either through making a giant square over the top or getting rid of the pitch entirely seems like a waste of a gorgeous pitched roof, but that’s just me) 😊 It honestly depends on how much you want to grow- it’s like the ‘piece of string’ question. I love growing in games (and in real life) so I always opt for space space space- I like both _having_ options and optimising.

you could also Put a electric steel door thing at the end of the 3ladders in the pit, if you close it up zombies will try to destroy the steel thing, meanwhile you can throw a granade down there, it works in my hord build very well

I love farming in this game. Im always the dedicated farmer in my friend group. The friend in charge of cooking loves having all the ingredients ready.
We do use mods for more seeds, plants and meals tho..
I would love to see what kind of cool farm build you would come up with! It could inspire me to change things around for once haha
I wouldn't mind a nice rooftop garden, with a barred roof and some more turrets to keep the shotty company. Can't let the birds eat the crops! Maybe a scarecrow?😂
Edit: maybe park the gyro on the bars, or garden in the attic (as someone else suggested) with bars for the roof, and park gyro on that.

I appreciate that after literal years of top level expert gameplay, you still have humility over simple things like ‘distance of mine from base’
@GunsNerdsandSteel The lumberjacks on the railings: They fall and stick the landing. They get stuck there because the railings aren't a viable path for them, and because the AI prioritizes reaching your level, they can't jump down to reach the ladder. That reverts them to the destruction mode.

You could set up the farm up in the attic and use bars for roof pieces so it could be watered but not get hit by birds.
I was suggesting rooftop in a few places, but with the gyro unlocked... maybe this, and park the gyro on the bars above?
Would be a bad idea IRL, but may not interfere w/ game mechanics.

I mostly play Darkness Falls, but I always enjoy building a big farm, a nice house to live in, and a horde base. Kind of like what I'd want if this was real.
Same. I really enjoy the streams from other creators but in my games, I have to live in a real, functioning house. Fridge, stove, bedroom, paint, nice garden (converted half of the Judie Witch property farm into a greenhouse once). I simply cannot hide in an attic or live in a box with my workstations all over the place.
You should repeat your rail walls upstairs between your fighting locations runs, if a demo explodes in the middle it will likely hurt the left and right sides.
First thing I taught my kid when he started playing, was always cover up your mine if it's close to the base, just to avoid any nasty surprises 🤐

I usually build my mines at least 150-200m away from my base. I've seen too many streamers have zombies tunneling under their bases. For reference, blood moon zombies spawn I think 30-50m from the player. Wandering hordes spawn 80-100m. Keeping mines at a greater distance just ensures they won't fall in when you're at your base.
EDIT: Yeah, your second mine is plenty far away.

Im loving this series, and the random daily challenges thing is an awesome touch. I was just wondering about future series. Have you considered doing another long road series? Im curious how a low loot game moving from patch of buildings to patch of buildings with only what you can carry would go with the new version of the game.

Very cool horde! Be careful also of ditches and dips too close to your base, not just mines, or you could end up with the "tunnel and basement that shall not be mentioned". Nice mine site rehab! You've got a lot of base design and aesthetic work done even though you have little time for that with horde every night, I like the set-up you have now, very effective. Farming is a side show since A20, give it a whirl but you'll need to put more points than perhaps you want into it to get an acceptable number of seeds back after harvest.
Have you tried "Donovan's Longer Loot Bags" mod? Loot bags hang around for a half hour or so giving plenty of time to collect them. 😃
One of my favorite ways to get stone is those huge above ground “boulders” I can get like 6-10k stone depending on size and my skills
Those are the nest, and oh so satisfying to harvest totally to ground level.
Sometimes they are pretty rare on random Gen maps. Especially outside of the forest biome.
The craziest hordes I've ever had are with blood moons disabled they just cluster up and roam .
I almost ALWAYS put a roof and a hatch/ladder into my mines. I really detest 'drop ins' lol

For the farm you could do a something similar to the borderlines base with the garage and then on to of that build the farm that way you have a place for your vehicles and the farm away from zombies

Explosion resistance is a really janky topic, but I seem to recall Eco saying that anything you can reach through provides no explosion protection.

I'd take the hill apart for resources; that way they won't find it as an easy way to get to you.
I know you already used the 3d truss but you can use the baluster bottom(?) on it's side. It's a "solid" shoot through block, or it used to be.
In almost all my playthroughs I regret puttin points into farms - it seems like after 1(mb 2) points into cooking it's plenty of food everywhere and you don't actually need to grow something. Wish there were some ajustments for food/water consumptions in settings.

Dude how do you do this? I have tried to recreate your bases in my vanilla game, but the cops just keep spitting/shooting the floor out from under me. They don't just stand there or anything, they just spit as they run the path. Any ideas?
Is your floor made of solid cubes? I think cops can see through almost all blocks other than the full cube
@@GunsNerdsandSteel solid concrete blocks, two blocks thick with a additional concrete block plate. I don't have any grenade shoots either. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear my character was running around with an entire inventory of donuts or something. I don't know, maybe I have unpaid parking tickets???

Why bother with a farm? You seem to have plenty of food and a farm is kind of pointless (in vanilla) now if this was df or one of the other mods then farming would be very important. But when it comes to vanilla farming is absolutely pointless. The fun pumps should change the whole food thing. Maybe bring back dysentery or a chance that canned food being spoiled or over time food will go bad if not used quick enough. Anything really would make farming useful.
The only time farming in vanilla would be important is if you did a trapped inside playthrough
