I am soo thankful for people like u, I've been wanting that light off for 10 years! I know its supposed to be a safety feature but i just think its wasteful.
You do know during the 10 years you've been fighting this is was in the first 20 pages of the owners manual that's always taking up space in the glove box right??
Thank you for both figuring this out and taking the time to share it. I have a 2005 beater Blazer that on the auto headlights turned on and had no idea how to change that.
Thank you! I just bought my used 2003 s10 & I have to sit parked while waiting to pick up my kid after ball games at night. i hated having my lights shinning right into other people's parked cars while they waited too. I had fooled around with the controls & couldn't figure it out. Big help!
Honestly man i have a 2004 chevy blazer and i hate the running lights in it bc i couldnt even start my suv in the morning bc its right by my wifes window and i have wondered and wondered abt the running lights in this damn thing thinking why would they make it to where u cant cut the lights off but i saw this video and the next morning for work i tried it out for my wifes sake and ill be damned if it didnt work for as long as uve had something u. i appreciate the info but I must say this procedure is outlined in the owner's manual. What I'd like to know is how to disable the running lights permanently. Anyone know how to do that? However, again thanks for the post.
Your awesome you save me alot of stress time and money, I just installed some spec d tuning lights on my chevy blazer 2000 and I would just want the halo parking lights to work nobody could figure it out not even where I got them installed but appreciate you much love and respect.🏁🔥
Yo thanks for this, one time in the night I wondered if I was being followed and I wanted to turn off my lights before I turned, but I couldn't because of this stupid truck. My s10 is a '03, it still worked but I had to push it like 10 times.
Some people buy a used vehicle without the manual.... But this worked in my 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada. Basically same as the Jimmy and blazers and the Buick version.
You do realize it tells you in the first few pages of you owners manual right? Also tells you how to reset your engine service light if you ever need to know that
@@jessebirch5578Why did your dumbass leave this comment under multiple peoples comments? Why are you here?? You realize for a TWENTY YEAR OLD VEHICLE that not everyone has an owners manual, right? WHY ARE YOU HERE ON THIS VIDEO????
Thanks man that has been driving me nuts trying to get my lights to shut off! I'm glad it was something so simple thought for sure it would be some nasty wiring issue.
Would that would on any Chevy car or truck any year? If I'm gonna need a quick get away car and try to hide out of site, I want to temporarily disable the daytime running lights.
It didn't work, bro. I have a 2000 Blazer and my headlights are permanently on for some annoying reason. I really don't want them burning all the time and shortening the life of the bulbs. What could I be doing wrong?
Thanks so much :) my parking lot is next to a bunch of houses and I get off late at night and always felt like a jerk when parking into my space and blind the folks trying to sleep lol
It's 2021 and I've been trying to get my zr2 ones off since 99...still nothin lol. ..also the button trick only works for Drls not ahls, on non zr2 and not all years ls and xtreme, the 640k and 2.2k resistors only work certain years and the bent 86 on drl relay does only kill drl not ahls on certain years and STILL no Zr2 easy fix, relays and resistors included..but I figured I'd show some S10 love and thumbs-up 7 years later for ya! Lol. THANKS FOR NOTHIN! J/K 1 LOVE BRO..
ya i have a 1998 blazer...seen a similar video however i like my daytime lights on because they are a safety feature...that's what they are for, but to each his own. Great video !!!
This info is in the owners manual. Most states it's illegal to drive with parking lights on. In Canada, it's illegal to drive w/o daytime running lights or headlights on. I keep my daytime running lights off because they cause your headlights to age and therefore dim faster than normal. If you have aftermarket "Brighter" headlights, they don't last as long as stock so why sped up deterioration even faster?
What do you mean? Good LEDs have a life 20-30,000 hours if the board doesn't fail early. And by good I mean like $50. That's easily 5 years worth of use. I've never had a halogen last 5 years in my life. The tungsten filiment in halogens usually break from shock trauma from vibrations. That's why halogen streetlights last forever, their tungsten coil isn't exposed to vibrations and potholes like vehicles. Your halogens can fail even if they aren't turned on. I've had HIDs last 5+yrs but iirc they get dim over time. I replaced those with osram Cool blue and they were $120
@@Seasniffer69 I mean exactly what I said. I have tried 3 different sets of LED headlights in my track, the light pattern suck because to be right, the LED wafers have to be at 3 and 9 o'clock when fully locked in. None of them were right. I don't do a lot of night driving but do live in a desert. I have plenty of extra light for out there (some big LEDs of course) but the halogens for road use have worked very well for me. 5 years is about right to change them but only for loss of max briteness.
@@x-man5056 you need to clock the led orientation. Good LEDs will have a set screw so you can spin the leds from 12-6 to 3-9 (just a base orientation to start off of) really sucks you didn't have a good experience with LEDs I got into LEDs about 7 years ago, so that was 2015? Those weren't very good being a COB design I first had. Super bright but like a flood light. Now today, we have CSP LEDs as the gold standard now. Just the led size vs heat dissipation is evolving at such a fast rate. I couldn't even buy an average led today, 7 years ago. They just didn't exist in the auto world. Edit. And I will say this because I just swapped my s10 interior lights to LEDs. I left the parking or interior/dome lights on all night by accident. The vehicle will still turn over and fire up. That's an anecdotal fact lol.
I have a 99 Silverado 1500 and it doesn’t matter how many times I push that damn button the lights won’t go off. The button works to turn the dome lights off but not the headlights. I don’t understand. This is such an idiotic design by Chevy
That doesn't work on all trucks. It's a great deal if you're lucky. You'll have to either replace the ambient light sensor or install a resistor in that circuit on most trucks.
Love this video, I hope it works for my 02 Blazer, I don't feel like walking down the snow covered driveway right now to try it, but I will first thing in the morning when I get in it...Thank you man!!!
Canadian trucks won't let you do this. I have an 01 tahoe that was originally sold in USA and it works, but my Canadian 05 sierra doesn't. I made a video where I put a switch in the dash that makes it think the parking brake is on. You have to start it with park brake on or your stuck with lights on.

Mr. Nationwide OML 😂
running headlights in the day is a waste battery life.
JANUARY Before wut?
The alternator keeps the battery charged when the engine is running, there is no difference in running them at night
and alternator
yes the constant charging will shorten your battery life and also burn your alternator out quicker
The bulb burns out faster and the harnesses can actually burn too is the problem I’ve got now
I bought a 98 s10 from my father in law and I've always wanted to know how to kick em off preciate the help
can’t thank you enough for figuring out an easy solution to this problem, sorry it took a bunch of button pushing to figure this out, i am grateful
