You know, I've been working in a lab one way or another for around 15 years (starting from my MS work) and from my experience people are just afraid of labs. They are afraid of so called "chemicals". We live in a science denying age and you can see those trends in all aspects of consumerism: "green" beauty, "natural" pest control. There is nothing inherently safer in "natural", arsenic is natural! It all always depends on the context. I believe those feelings are the undercurrent of the recent ant-TC trend. People want their plants to be "natural", "wild", "organic" and they don't realize or care that such drive only results in the destruction of their habitat. I believe we should separate wilderness from our consumerism in all aspects of life and in the case of houseplants TC is the answer. Btw I bought one of your Spiritus and I couldn't be more excited to grow it into a giant specimen :) Thank you for making it possible!

Thank you for this. I always want to scream “everything is a chemical!!!” 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️ And the dose makes the poison! Almost anything can be toxic at the right levels. It’s such an irrational, fear based way of thinking. Ignorance is not bliss, it’s just ignorance and it’s dangerous.
When I see people making at home skincare with lemon juice in it, my head explodes. Lemon juice can erode tooth enamel, the hardest substance in the human body. Yet some people would rather put it on their delicate facial skin than use a safe and effective product formulated by an expert with a phd. It’s mind boggling 🤯

@@WoodlandT I don't want to get political here, it's not a place for it. But I believe it's the result of greed shown by the corporations. Ex. the history of DuPont and Teflon or the effects of cheap HFC syrup on human health. Forgive the cheesiness but science and technology are tools and can be used for good or for evil, as any other. But there are many historic instances when money was more important than safety and every time we hear news about those our trust is eroded even more. Again, it's feelings, not logic, but it's so difficult to fight it.

Dog trainer here, please hear what I'm saying - you handled this BEAUTIFULLY. This kind of thing happens to even the most experienced professionals, in every animal field. We've literally ALL done it, at least once, brought home a completely different animal to what we think we've purchased. Mostly because sellers are awful, but also because occasionally love clouds even the most common of sense. You identified the issue quickly, and did everything in your power to make it better. I'm so sorry it's still happening, unfortunately the only way to prevent it is to assume everyone is lying and that's no way to live. I know you're beating yourself up, because I've been there.... sooooo many times... but only one person went into this with shady motives, and it wasn't you. Based on what you've said, I think you're right, this will go your way in the end. I hope that when it does you're able to look at the experience as just a misstep on your journey to a beautiful relationship. Your horse is out there, I promise. ❤️

@@KayleeEllenOfficial Came here to say this, my dog was traumatized and a nightmare when he settled in - rescue hid his background I later learned - highly reactive, I ended up with a list of 40+ triggers we ended up identifying and working past. Trained for 2 hours a day for 2 years and he is as close a soulmate there is on this earth to me. Sometimes, it works out like with him and me and I could not imagine not having him. But he is a 25 lb dog, and as a former rider I know damn well how dangerous a horse with a poor temperament can be. Paying others to ride him is such a huge gift to work through his needs and get him better trained and was an amazing choice. I want to say though that if it doesn't work out, that is OK too! Someone else may be their forever family and that's also totally valid to choose. Not everyone is in a place to put that time in and even if they are it may not ever pay off, I was lucky. I'm still watching the video, I just had to tell you. This happens all the time as the other commenter said, I'm so sorry you've been thrown this curveball in the area you were using to find peace.

It's elitism, jealousy, & also some ignorance. Anyone complaining about or looking down on TC is not logical & or doesn't have all the facts. Why people want to start something out of nothing so badly I will never understand. To make an extreme comparison here it's like saying a human born from IVF isn't a real human. Then on top of that demanding they need to disclose they were born from IVF when they meet someone. It's literally nutso talk.
Finished the video- I'm so sorry for what your going through with this horse. Some people have zero conscience or care for others. As soon as you said you didn't go to the vetting my heart sank. Like you said, no more getting takin advantage of. This is not right and you nor this horse deserves this. Get what your entitled too AND SOME. This has caused I imagine so much mental distress it's beyond just being about giving the horse back at this point. You got this. 💪

The term you’re looking for in people who want plant prices to remain high is “elitists,” they want things to stay expensive because that keeps them out of reach and they feel superior for having the money to afford them.

Kaylee! I've been obsessed with TC ever since I saw your video on it, I'm planning on doing some myself, since it's up my alley as a biotech worker. I will probably never understand why people feel that the plants from TC are lesser than the "organically grown" stuff that takes forever. It's not like it's going to have a health impact on people, you can't eat the houseplants lmao
I'm with you for sure, TC is the way to go if you want to get plants for relatively cheap. I'm hyped for the spiritus sancti

TC plants hardiness will depend solely on who the grower is, it does not matter if the plants originated in a tube or an actual node. Plants adapt really well in their environment and it's a slow process. As long as the plant is slowly acclimated, the success is great!

When i was young, my cousins lived on a massive farm. 50+ acres. A pregnant mare had escaped the paddock into the field and gave birth. It took my uncle nearly 3 years to get mum and now grown foal back into the stalls. The foal she birthed is the most psychotic horse ive met in my entire life. He will try to kick you from 20 feet away. His name is quite literally "jerk of the north" 😂

The sad part is the seller probably did this to you because she knew you were novice and assumed you wouldn't know what to do in this situation being screwed by them. People are so messed up and will do anything to make a quick buck anymore. She could also potentially be an animal flipper aswell buying cheap and selling for more.

    You speak the facts.
As for the horse situation, you seriously got the worst case scenario right off the bat. It is every horse owners nightmare, not just a novice's. There's too many good horses out there to deal with a bad one, and when you're dealing with a real time, shady horse dealer it's going to happen. Over here we have facebook groups of warning of bad sellers or bad horse dealers and there's a few known nation wide. It's not like you need anything else to do but maybe creep onto some of those pages and watch for names. Don't post anything yet obviously but for future endeavors.

I have been riding for over 20 years so by no means a novice. It would be my 2nd horse, as my 1st one died 10 years prior. So i went to buy him in 2018 and had the same thing happen. The horse was happy and healthy at the seller, but starting the Day after I got him he was Just a different horse. Physically he was fine. I had the best trainers work with him. First horsemanship, then riding. When I got him they told me he was 9years old but I found out he had Bred and produced offspring that was at that point already 8 years old, the vet told me he would be around 14, and seemed to have a lot of mental trauma (also being unridden in a field for years like Kaylee). I tried and tried for Two years. Eventually I had ONE good ride with him, the next Day a switch popped back with him and he went batshit crazy. He Just was not for me. The tears I shed when I sold him were nothing compared to the tears I shed in the Two years that had passed.
This was a nightmare but it happens. i did not have the means to take legal action and I decided my good moments and progress with him (i got him well behaved unridded okay after the years and we went swimming and walking together) were good life lessons.
It is okay Kaylee. Good luck with your legal case, but you did nothing wrong. Show Them that you won't be shit on!

The number one thing I appreciate about you is your complete honesty and transparency. I try watching other plantubers but it's difficult after watching your videos, I usually can watch a couple of minutes and then I have to turn it off, it's just fluffy garbage. Your videos are so different and that's what keeps me coming back every week, to hear what you've got to say next. I wish you much luck with your horsey problems, it's a terrible shame that it had to turn out this way, but it sounds like you have a very solid case. I'm positive that you will find the horse that is meant for you ❤ And last point because I rarely comment on your videos so I have to get it out in one go, put your hair up in a ponytail, for goodness sakes, all that futzing about with it drives me bonkers🤣

I have a monstera deliciosa staked up a pole and so far it’s going very nicely(almost touching the ceiling). I only shine sunlight and grow lights from one direction so all the leaves grow in one direction to save space and to somewhat control its form. I basically use velcro tape to have the stem grow vertically against the pole and to bring the leaves closer together.👍

As a life long rider, I grew up with horses, my mom bred them and we showed. I’ve owned horses as an adult and professionally managed a livery & competition facility. Believe me when I say…. always just lease the horse. ❤️ Hope this works out for the best for everyone involved … except the sellers.

First of all, I'm so sorry about your horse, it must be so gut wrenching to go through. Good on you for standing your ground and not giving up on the hobby.
I find so interesting this TC debate coming from the Orchid hobby, where orchids mericlones are usually more expensive, being from awarded plants. Of course some people prefer seed grown hybrids for the potencial unknown, and you have your seed grown botanical species snobs, but "the plant being weaker" has never been an argument I've seen.

I'm so glad you stopped riding your horse. My cousin bought a horse. She was a novice rider too. She fell off her horse and had two black eyes. She claimed it was not the horse's fault. She had dropped the reign and went to pick it up and fell. Few weeks later, horse spooked while she was riding him. Horse ran, cousin dropped the reigns and the horse suddenly turned. My cousin went flying off head first. My cousin never woke up.

I like how you talk about why people hate TC. It puts an image in my mind of people putting labels with the value on their houseplants in stead of the name . I like some of the rare plants just because of how they look but I also have plants just as lovely I bought in the supermarket.

I’m really sorry about the problems you’re having with your horse. It’s so important for novice riders to learn on a docile, compliant horse. I’ve ridden most of my life. And it’s pretty much a fact with horses that you will eventually get hurt. I’ve been dumped, bitten, kicked, stepped on, thumb broken in a tie rope and crushed against the stall wall. Some of these things were accidents. Others definitely weren’t. Some horses, even once trained, are just very ornery. If I’d been working with such a horse early on & any of that had happened before I was very comfortable & confident with horses, it easily could have lead to a lot of fear & apprehension. I may have given up the hobby entirely. I hope you’re able to stick it out with a suitable horse & get your confidence back. It can be such a rewarding thing when the conditions are appropriate

So sad this happened to you. You were so excited to get the horse. I still can't believe that people can be that dishonest. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will agree to settle this quickly and without court. In the end it might be cheaper for them. So if not because they have change of heart and want to be honest, perhaps to cut their losses. Sending you lots of love ❤️
