    Volkswagen Golf 8 Variant
First TSI engine with 81 kW. The 200 Nm petrol version is a 48 V mild hybrid. Paired as standard with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG), this Golf Variant completely switches off the electrically “charged” turbo engine (eTSI) whenever possible in order to cruise silently and without emissions, while at the same time saving energy. The Golf Variant 1.0 eTSI has a combined fuel consumption of only 4.5 to 4.3 l/100 km - as a spacious five-seater that can travel at a speed of 200 km/h if required and can easily handle the holiday luggage of a family with three children.
The new exterior design exudes charisma. With its clear-cut lines and LED technology light systems, it creates a visual bridge to the digital world. At the front and on the sides up to the B-pillars, the traditional four-door Golf and the new Golf Variant share the same iconic contours. Further back, the Variant shows its typical uniqueness. Thanks to the pronounced shoulder section, the long roof section above this, which is drawn in slightly in upward direction and slopes down to the rear, and with a coupé-like, sloping rear window, the Golf Variant appears sportier than ever before. The increase in length also rearranges the proportions and makes the Golf Variant appear more elongated and visually flatter. The new Variant generation is 4,633 mm long and now boasts a wheelbase of 2,686 mm (a 66 mm increase compared with the predecessor in each case). The Golf Variant is 1,789 mm wide and 1,455 mm high (without roof rails). In comparison, the current four-door Golf is 4,284 mm long and has a wheelbase of 2,619 mm.
The engine options have been expanded to include new mild hybrid versions (eTSI). These are particularly economical when it comes to fuel consumption because the Golf Variant switches off the TSI direct-injection turbo petrol engine whenever possible and coasts with zero local emissions. All eTSI engines are combined with an automatic dual clutch gearbox (7-speed DSG) as standard. Without a DSG gearbox, the imperceptible changeover between the coasting phase and the TSI drive would not be possible. As the first mild hybrid, the 1.0 eTSI will be launched with 81 kW/110 PS, with other versions set to follow. The Golf Variant is also available with innovative TDI engines, which will be initially launched with two output levels: as a 2.0 l TDI with 85 kW/115 PS and with 110 kW/150 PS. In both versions, technology known as twin dosing - dual AdBlue® injection with two SCR catalytic converters (Selective Catalytic Reduction) - significantly reduces nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx).
    Skoda Octavia Combi RS
KODA is continuing the tradition of its performance RS models in the fourth-generation OCTAVIA too. This iteration, however, is the first in which the Czech car manufacturer is offering three different drive systems: in addition to the OCTAVIA RS versions with either a petrol or a diesel engine, the OCTAVIA RS iV - the brand’s first RS plug-in hybrid - is now being launched. Both the 2.0 TSI OCTAVIA RS and the OCTAVIA RS iV have an output of 180 kW (245 PS). The 2.0 TDI produces 147 kW (200 PS) and is the only model in the RS range to be available with all-wheel drive on request. All three variants feature sporty bodywork detailing including RS-typical black touches. The interior, with its traditional and dynamic design, is also predominantly black.
Virtual Cockpit with Sport layout; Driving Mode Select with RS mode as standard
The three RS models are fitted with the Virtual Cockpit instrument panel as standard, which offers an additional Sport layout. They come with Driving Mode Select as standard, featuring a new RS mode. All driver assistance systems from the fourth-generation OCTAVIA are of course also available for the RS variants. These include the new Collision Avoidance Assist, Turn Assist and Exit Warning as well as Local Traffic Warning.
In the three nippy range-topping models, dynamic driving characteristics are ensured by the progressive steering system (standard) and RS-typical sports suspension, which is lowered by 15 mm for the 2.0 TSI and the 2.0 TDI. Dynamic Chassis Control is available as an option and constantly adjusts the damping, thus enabling a particularly dynamic driving style in Sport mode. In Driving Mode Select, DCC now enables parameters such as suspension, damping and steering characteristics or the operation of the DSG to be adjusted to suit individual preferences. These adjustments are made using sliders via the central touchscreen. The ground clearance of the OCTAVIA RS iV remains unchanged when equipped with DCC.
