Both replies are incorrect. They seem to have mixed up the Oculus Rift and Oculus Go. The Oculus Rift is a PC-based VR headset running at $400 USD. It has 6DoF and uses two cameras to track the headset and controllers. It also includes two Oculus Touch controllers for standing/roomscale experiences. The Oculus Go is a standalone VR headset running at $200 USD. It only has 3DoF and does not have any cameras on or tracking the headset. It utilizes a 3DoF controller with some simple buttons. Roomscale is not supported. So the original comment’s observation makes perfect sense. The Go is half the price of the Solo with the main difference being the Solo is 6DoF while the Go is 3DoF. But 6DoF is rarely useful in non-roomscale games, so a lot of people may not consider the extra $200 worth it.

I hope you understand how much we appreciate your videos. We all assume you're doing pretty well for you and yours but I truly hope you never sell out it's what makes you unique in my opinion too many RUclipsrs and sponsors collude to make profit. Continues a great work Linus.
This review is incredibly outdated. You can get so much more on an oculus quest for the exact same price
@Masterr Laster *this* comment is outdated cause the go,is gone
And now this is outdated since the Quest 2 is out. Cheaper yet better in (almost) every way.
Also I gotta say I like that you seem to be involving the writers more and more in front of the cameras. You have a seriously entertaining writing team, so I've always felt it was a bit of a shame that we couldn't see more of them. Unless it's because they don't want to, of course.

@dodothemagnificent At first I thought that was the first video, but then... Wow
@ThatMonitorCord If I recall correctly they said a few months ago that adsense covers less than 10% of their revenue.
@ThatMonitorCord I don't disagree on the logic, it's just that at the point where they're teaming up with Facebook, I'd rather see them go bankrupt
When Plinky and I went to the Georgia aquarium they had a VR ride and it was pretty dope.
I want vr. I only have a laptop(which is mainly 4 productivity).
Are you saying that you can`t be productive with VR?
Wolde Munster no. He’s saying his laptop isn’t good enough for vr
Just buy a lowend vr one from oculus :) the beta/developers one require very little hardware!
Lenovo Mirage is the first "google daydream" stand alone headset, however Oculus Go is the first stand a lone vr headset.
Also Oculus Go has its own built in speakers while the Lenovo requires earbuds, that and Oculus has PC port VR games, and has 75% more content, and is half the price.
@@Skelath guess I'll get an oculus then
Great video Linux
But why?
VR Office Tour! It Better Not Look Like *Ass!*
Edit: If you''re going to watch the "Touring the Linus Tech Tips office in VR180!!" on a computer:
1) Make The Video Fullscreen
2) Hold the "Page Up" key
3) Scroll Down On Your Mouse One Time
Doing this will give you a higher field of view.
The design is shamelessly stolen from PlayStation VR, good job Lenovo lmao
Yeah it is great job
You can't steal a VR headset design they all look about the same. Also it's a completely different market so even if they did it doesn't matter...
and 'world sense' is stolen from Oculus, its actually called 'inside out tracking '
Have you been in the real world? lol
Denis Moser “good artists copy, great artists steal”
I got the reference, used to watch it when it originally aired. God I feel old now.
400 bucks?? Is that cheap for a MOBILE Vr headsett? Gtfo
I was nervous when I got my GearVR for $80.

@Sally Smith Providing Facebook stays a float. I got the Oculus Gear Vr for my Galaxy S9+ and quality difference to my HTC Vive is pretty close due to the S9+ having a 4k OLED.
Oculus go is better
Oculus Go has no lateral sensing, which is a complete fail.
Alexander Gräf Lateral sensing? You mean 6dof? Also, this is 200$ more than the Go. This also only has one 3dof controller unlike the upcoming Oculus Quest...
Cough cough 3dof cough
But can it play Beat Saber?
@@fyre1307 yes, only rotations will be tracked, no translations. But yes, the controller is underwhelming, especially since the Windows Mixed Reality headsets do full 6dof optical tracking with two controllers, with the same concept of using two cameras directly built into the headset. Still, World Sense allowed us to make an application where you can freely move around on several hundred square feet. That's kind of even better than the Vive with a wireless setup. The safety feature to limit movement can be disabled.
Why did the intro reference make me think of that band P.O.D.? lulz
@@Exz84 It's from the theme song to the 90s live action VR Troopers show.
VR!! But worse! :D
It's like, you take phone VR, which kind of sucks. And take away the phone!
I feel you linus. We're old now... because yes, I got the reference. Remember those bug ones that aired the same year?
To everyone thinking it's a song, it's not.
Lol, paying $400 for last year's mobile processor and no dedicated GPU
•_•
Ooh I can’t wait till Linus try’s the quest
Cool but overpriced, compared to actual vr headsets like the vive and Oculus, if this had a mode to swap to a windows mr headset and worked with steam now this would be killer.
But that would use a wire, and that just wouldn't be cool with the kids.
Cavey Möth oculus quest doesn’t have a cable, and it has two tracked cameras and even a dedicated GPU!
We are VR troopers!
VR isnt DEAD yet ????
Libtard it will be mainstream during the 2020s
VR is fantastic, love my HTC Vive. There are literraly people that spend 36 hours in it and fall asleep with them on.
Why would it be? It's actually relatively good this time around and will only get better. Its not like we are working with a Virtual Boy at this point.
My local mall has a VR arcade with 2 Vive's. Another kiosk popped up with egg shaped full motion chairs and 4 Oculus headsets. The kiosk is getting 7-8 bucks for less than 10 min. of time. Not sure how much the arcade charges. It was kind of funny regarding the kiosk. It was all little kids in them despite the fact you are supposed to be 13. I suspect due to the minimum pupillary distance. It probably didn't look great for them.
I got my Oculus mainly for racing simulation, but will use it for other things as well. On thing on my to do list is to sculpt something in Medium and then 3D print it out.
Vr is not even close to dead
VR should be on the up and up soon, thanks to prices finally coming down.
This just hit my inbox
This has one thing the Quest is missing, and that is expandable storage. Seriously why do they limit you to only the built in storage?
About damn time.
pretty cool tech! i really like that we will be able to record vr to you tube .
The headset looks like it takes a lot from the Lenovo Explor's design, which I love btw.
Nice set!
You can use Riftcats's VRidge app to stream VR games from your PC to your Daydream device! It also supports many other platforms. Tried it with Gear VR and it works surprisingly well
Nice VR Troopers reference Linus
Love that computer in the background still better then my computer
Interesting thing is, that Sony actually licensed Lenovo the PSVR headset design, for the Mirage. So if the Mirage looked a little familiar for some, that's why.
I see your VR Trooper reference LTT...... Thanks JonTron for making me aware of this "gem".
VR Troopers! Yup, got it
linus, i would have loved to see one hell of a segway where you put on the headset that transfers into the ads!!
The youth of a nation! 😤🤜🤛💥👍
Amazing! I'd buy it!
Get a quest
@@Thomas-gj9ho imagine replying 2 years later. I've been rocking the Rift S for over a year now and I'm happy with it. Spent some extra change on getting 2.0 base stations and invested into the full body tracking scene.
@@lilnani2g sorry didn’t realise it was 2 years ago
I'd suggest paying attention to Oculus in Spring of 2019; They're supposedly coming out with a standalone VR headset with the movement and controls of a desktop experience.
The Windows MR Headsets all use that camera tracking feature, its called room scale. Warehouse scale playspaces
So they missed the point where this is a cordless PlayStation VR headset right? that was kind of a big deal when they announced the licensing agreement.
I always hoped you’d make a VR Troopers reference with one of these VR videos.
Love the VR troopers reference :P
I'd pay $10 to rent this for a month, then make a decision.
You'll probably get conjunctivitis.
I got the reference! Troopers, Supreme!
FYI Lenovo licensed Sony's PSVR patent that's why this headset looks so familiar.
Now hearing this 10 months before the quest... I’m intrigued
