As much as I love Karlach, I DO recommend politely turning her down when she starts with the flirting. I'm not sure what the triggers for it are, but I was doing a playthrough where I wasn't romancing her, and when I turned her down, she started trying to give me really cliche one-liners about "more fish in the sea" kind of statements, but they were all terrible. And she literally starts heckling her own lines out loud in front of you and trying to recover the conversation, like a stage comic who knows they're bombing but try and pull it out of a tailspin. The lines are SO funny. If nothing else, save before you do it so you can just enjoy the lines, before quick loading so you can enjoy the one true romance in the game. That of Mama K.

@@blitzilion I don't remember them exactly, I just remember the general tone is that she's trying to not act like she's embarrassed for being turned down, and that it's not bothering her, but she's failing miserably, and you can hear her berating herself for the really corny lines she blurts out, and it's just absolutely adorable.

@@TheKyrix82 You know, you can just reclass her by taking control of her while at camp, making her talk to Withers and paying 100 gold to change her class. You can make her whatever class you need her to be. She's not stuck being a barbarian, that's just the default class she comes as, when you recruit her.

My favorite interaction with her so far happens the morning after you've upgraded her engine to the point she can actually touch people, and you spend that night with her doing the dirty. She's humming to herself as you approach her and talks about how good of a time she had last night, but she's still like really bashful and withheld for some reason. But towards the end of the conversation she says, "I adore you, you know" and if you respond with "I... I love you." she blurts out "I LOVE YOU TOO" so fast like she's been holding it back the whole time and starts giggling like a schoolgirl.
There has never been a more obvious choice of "best girl" than Karlach I stg

They could’ve left out the end bit, made her have a suave getaway but they added that last little (yes) at the end, which shows just how much of a nerd karlach is. God tier.

Even though she is a ruthless Tiefling barbarian, she is actually silly, cute, cheerful, and emotional which makes her extremely adorable. 😅

One thing I really like about Karlach is how when she's discussing what PC did with Astarion she's full of confidence and sass, but then she's hinting at a mere possibility of her and PC doing the deed - she gets all awkward and quiet
Despite being devilish berserker with a literal infernal engine inside her, she's just so dorky, awkward and at times shy. That's a sertified waifu material right here, rated A for... Ugh, let someone more creative (or shameless) than me finish that sentence

A big strong demonic looking barbarian, with the sweetest little heart of gold. One of my favorite gaming characters in a long time.
Yea its refreshing too, never been done before yet kind of believable cuz she spent all those years just fighting in the blood war and nothing else.

I prefer a silent protagonist. In fully voiced games, I find that the tone or expression of a dialog choice sounds so much different than I figured it would in my head. I agree that the facial animations are distracting, immersion breaking, and honestly... poorly animated. My dark urge character shouldn't be in total shock and disbelief over someone committing a mildly naughty act.
It's on purpose I am sure. Mainly so one can project oneself better on the character. If you ever played Fallout 4, you will know what problems a voiced character in an RPG makes, and considering how BG3 is 20 times more complex, it would be far, far worse. THou yeah, it can look a tad awkward.@@blitzilion
The most cringe moments where I truly feel this is when a companion is breaking down emotionally.

Good aligned barbarians are usually depicted as unrestrained chaotic goofs and while more considerate of her actions, I love how you see this side come out of her every time she gets somewhat excited.

@@Crimson50 the game intentionally made all companion won't get really jealous in Act 1(they treat it as a fling) You'll be locked in with your choice of partner starting from Act 2

It was really hard to turn her down, she’s so adorable but my Tav was already with Shadowheart. Whatever you do, don’t sleep with her and then break up with her. She goes from high affection to very low….
lol, it's funny how hard it was to do this, but I save scummed before you can tell her I love you, told her that, then told Lae'zel I wanted to be with her. If you do the same thing but with "I adore you" she gets mad, but you can still talk to her. After "I love you", it literally wouldn't let me start a conversation with her.
Naturally I reloaded and stayed with the true peak waifu. Hell I started a whole new playthrough after killing Orin, because I found out I'd missed the romance option and didn't have a save from beforehand. 😅
She is absolutely adorable. The rarest of flowers truly bloom in adversity.
My favorite is when you confess your love to her and she screams "OHMYGODILOVEYOUTOO"

I love karlach, I truly do. this game is crazy I don't know about you people but I was truly starting to fall in love with the companions. they are so nurturing, mysterious, sensitive and LOVING.i know it's written that way, but good on Larian.they have a good understanding of the characters and it's a master class for writing.i really had a connection with karlach, I feel for her. Well, they said the planed way with recreating her heart was not good enough so it was deleted.
At least we have abother way to save her now, maybe not as she wanted but it can be done.
Its the best ending in the game. You become a doom slayer with your gf and go to hell. Besides Zariel isnt so strong and if yoh are about lvl 15 you can defeat her in DnD

the new ending they added where you and her (and possibly Wyll) go together to Avernus is possibly the most awesome ending though
@@molybdaen11 I've seen suggestions that would make her an actual tragic hero. Like Tav having to bind their soul to Karlach's engine, or she'd have to dam someone else in her place, or make an unsavory deal with Raphael. Something where she does get what she wants, to stay on the surface, but at a great cost

I really hope the developers add a good ending to her in future patches. She deserves better than going back to Avernus or becoming a mind flayer. She deserves a happy cottage where she can smell all the flowers in the world and appreciate a warm cup of tea while looking at the stars.
I was romancing Lae'zel but I let her go at the end with Orpheus and told Karlach that I'm going with her to Avernus because I didn't want to let her go alone, and being a paladin probably helps her out more too. But I do hope if we get DLC it's to help out Karlach
I'm playing a wizard. I went with her to Avernus, because in my headcanon epilogue, it's not long surviving in a place like that before I'm level 17 and have access to Wish.
That'll fix her right up if nothing else down there can. Then the next day, cast Gate to take us both back to Baldur's Gate, and we go have dinner with her old blacksmith friend, who makes Karlach godmother.
And we live happily ever after.
Even Larian can't convince me that's not how the ending happened.

You usually expect a demon to have all the rizz in the world but it's like she's the stereotypical horny but doesn't quite have the expected way with words and is realistically a little awkward which comes off as charming,it makes her pretty human

Lae Zel is about as sweet as a salted jalapeño. She does soften up as the game progresses, though, which is something I really like.
Lae'zel is a lot of things but sweet ain't one of them. She's a pretty cold blooded individual even after she warms up to you
Tieflings aren't naturally evil at all, though, they just look like that which makes people assume they are. It says something to that effect in the Basic Rules.
