Another one of my rare Three Thumbs UP! Choice Award favs, a fantastic classic retro-coool Hand-me-Up testament celebration of a bygone era when Men were men who drove Trucks. Absolute wonderful synthesis of style guiding function, from the buffchrome Freeway aerowing bumper, chrome saddle tanks, halfshell rear stainless (galvo?) fenders, grated headache rack, single chrome stack, polished aluminum Master Budds, chrome footwell plates and hvy-duty 2-ton flatbed w/stairstep sideracks to the luscious Peterbuilt Red spitshine that does the pre-cabover/sleeper cab Loud, Sassy and Proud -- THIS is one helluva gorgeous truck with its adorable pugnosed can-do grunt-pull longmiler relic character that you were blessedly wise and careful enough to be faithful to -- with its over-the-top original class artfully enhanced by your custom touches that bring the whole real-deal to Showclass calibre, almost too-damn purty-to-drive. Can't say too much good stuff, the only thing I'd change is who has possession and holds title -- that would be me, of course! ( ;
MAN! OH, MAN ! ! Now that's what I would call a serious truck. I mean Killer Awesome. I could have ridden along in that truck in that most enjoyable part of the country for hours and hours. I really enjoyed that ride along and over all viewing of this fabulous GMC truck. You have done an awesome job of restoring this beauty. Thank so much for sharing with the rest of us old classics. HUGE respect from Virginia.
I would love to have old iron to pull my 5th wheel. I've been looking around. I loved these trucks when I was a kid. I thought GMC had the best looking semi-trucks. That is a fine looking, and sounding, machine.
Beautiful Truck Sir, and I always loved the sound of a Double Breasted Yamaha as we called those screaming Detroit`s back in the day...Nice job on the Restro, you have a Classic that you can be Proud of...Keep on Trucking Driver...
Unfortunately most dd mechanics are near dead and mechanics to fix em RIGHT IS FEW ! And NO IM NOT REFERRING 60 SERIES EITHER REFERING REAL DD 2 STROKE
Very nice, good job on that one. First heard and saw a Detroit on a log skidder in the forest on our farm as a child, even a 4 cylinder sounds good. Glad to see you wear the Stetson in the cab.
They always get checked when I come home so they know the sound and run up the hill to the gate like big dogs looking for an apple. Thanks for looking !
Very nice video. You seem like a good guy. Best of luck with your 860. I drove one once as a teenager. Yours is a good hardened vehicle that will come in handy if we ever have a terrorist attack with an EMP.
Thanks also for viewing my channel on my home made pvc train horns. I loved that whistle. That truck would make a set of my horns look very good, Ha ! Ha !
Very nice. That Truck is gorgeous! Do you ever wish for less gears (like going to a 6 speed for example), now that it is set up like this? And you know, us RUclipsrs would love to know why the feed is in the cab, and not in the Truck bed? : - )
It is ongoing. I bought it 6 years ago and it had been restored about 10 years prior to that but needed updating. i added new tires, fenders , jake brake , flat bed ,new interior, body work and painted it in that period. It is now getting a new rear end with higher gearing and air ride suspension. I sold the flat bed and may put the 5th wheel back on . Also changing the front hubs and adding polished aluminum all around. At least that is the plan and hope to have it done in a couple of months. When done I will add a new video of it . Thanks for looking ! Tom
Very good. Thank you. Myself, and a couple of others, are working on similar project Trucks, but we have not yet decided the ratio we should use. We have been thinking in the range of 3:07 - 3:42. You are right there near the middle! : - ) In our case though, these are four wheel drive Trucks, and we need to make sure our ratio choice, is also available for the front drive axle.
The sound of old Detroit disels running is music to my ears
These trucks defines what trucking is
I never get tired of listening to that sweet detroit diesel. I used to hear this engine as a kid. Now i can enjoy it anytime.
Congrats mate. I think this is the only sentence where these two words can go together. That beast is beautiful.

Hey Tom Siembieda. Are you going to make it to the Reno show next year? I hope so!
Very nice. That Truck is gorgeous! Do you ever wish for less gears (like going to a 6 speed for example), now that it is set up like this?
And you know, us RUclipsrs would love to know why the feed is in the cab, and not in the Truck bed? : - )
Why didn't you have the feed placed in the back?
Sweet!!
Nice, Cummings valley in spring.
nice nice truck
I love it!
That is one sweet lookin truck!!! Do you take it to the truck shows?
+roger thornburg Just starting to this year as I finally retired after working 39 years.
Do you need a special license to drive an old rig for non commercial use, nice truck, love those Detroit diesel engines
Elizabeth Cherry it depends on your locality. When he took the 5th wheel off I suspect the police would not even ask. The worlds sweetest pickup!
love it! how long did it take to restore it??

Thanks. Can't wait to see the new version. and a video of that jake. From outside the truck. I love that sound
You say: "getting a new rear end." What gear ratio have you decided on?
3:14 Peterbilt air ride has been added and works great. Currently changing the front axle . Got the old girl over 70 mph .
Very good. Thank you.
Myself, and a couple of others, are working on similar project Trucks, but we have not yet decided the ratio we should use. We have been thinking in the range of 3:07 - 3:42. You are right there near the middle!
