My first 360 broke. Red-ringed, right before the release of ODST. The guys I played with said they'd wait for me, and we'd all drop together. I told them not to, I wouldn't have enough money for a while, and I didn't want them to miss out. Two days later I find out they chipped in to pay towards a new 360. Some days it's hard to get up in the morning. Then I remember my friends pulling me forward. We all drop sometime, lads. You meet the right team though, and they'll make sure you get back up.

Listening to this sobbing my eyes out, missing my dad, we used to play this on occasion, he passed when I was 17 (in my mid 20’s now) I still miss him. I’m also jobless, broke, and couch surfing with my wife. Her friends just kicked us out and I’m feeling pretty hopeless and down. Just stopped in to have a cry and read comments. Hey man I am hoping you can use this hard time in your life as motivation to setup a strong foundation. This is very emotional music that makes you look back on things. I know for me to get out of a dark place I would focus 100% of my attention on something, it is important to have it be a positive thing. I think I started with reading motivational stories of people who were successful and who got out of a rough situation. This made me more calm at night when it was easy to think of past issues, but reading can help focus your attention. I later decided I liked computers and fouced on learning more about them for a job. I am hoping that you can get back on your feet and get stabilized again, and then focus on making something the best it can be.

2021 - I fullscreened this video everyday for 6 months while I was in college doing my coding assignments. My life was wake up, code, sleep, wake up etc. Every hour in this video id take a break and get back to it but id listen to the whole 8 hours for that day. Life was full of bad problems but I loved how this track just calmed it down and helped me get by. I was positive nothing would ever get better. 2024 - 3 years on, I'm still alive. Typing on the same keyboard & desk like back then when I was typing all day to code. This track reminded me of what life was like then and where I am now. Things got better, I became wiser, got stronger only because I didn't give up. I won't ever give up. Just like the ODSTs didnt. Just like Masterchief didn't. Go all the way guys, all the way. Give it everything, more than what you think is everything. We are all strong and your strength is there. Speak to it, know yourself and soon you'll know what getting to the other side feels like. I never thought in a million years I'd make it, but I did and am still getting there. I know, with all my heart, you can make it too. I'll be here, typing on the same keyboard & desk rooting for you.
Great to hear that man! I am currently studying very hard for a Cisco certification test. Been listening to this a lot to get me through it. It is something decicating yourself fully to accomplishing something. These games were so inspiring and I think we are really missing that today.

Recovering addict here, this soundtrack is one of the only things that brings me peace and lets me forget about using for a while. It reminds me of playing Halo with my dad as a little kid, and knowing that he was so happy to be playing a game with his son as a recovering addict himself gives me hope. Thank you, Halo.
Currently 964 days clean off most hard drugs but just remember take it a day at a time any days clean is important to celebrate. I won’t lie say life gets easier because it doesn’t always not unless you put the work in to make it better. I’m trying to become a better man than I used to be someone I’d be proud of.
Reading the comments is almost like being Rookie again. You come here alone and see bits and pieces of other people’s stories. You get a very small but relatable glimpse into a strangers life and realize your not the first or the last to pass through here. So read the little memos and leave a broken dog tag in the dirt, someone else might need to read it. Sometimes all you have is your last rounds loaded, an empty stomach and a heart full of doubt but no other choice than to keep walking with your head held high, cause you never know who is watching from the sidelines and needs to see someone overcome something when defeat seemed like the only option. Here in 2024… the nostalgia hits hard. I miss the worry free days of being a kid. Getting home after school to play Halo 3 and Halo 3 odst. I’m 27 now and still play halo.
I was there, with you brother. We're nearly the same age. Respect man, we are all men/women now. Thankfully we can still enjoy games, its never too late. But we can never be kids again, all we can do is focus on creating more memories for us to reflect on in another 10 or 15 years. Thanks for playing everyone these games, this time in the world, we were all there. We saw it. It was amazing. We have that forever.
29 in a couple of days and still run halo almost weekly with the homies across the pond. Maybe not so much with the irl homies but damn have I made some super long impactful friendships over halo that still persist to this day.
8 years ago a friend of mine went offline, yesterday he came back and the first thing he did was invite me to a halo game he promised to play the day after he went offline, glad he remembered. Two years later he passes away, may he rest in peace

I remember when ODST dropped and I was bummed because all my local stores were sold out, my dad came home with dinner and noticed how sad I was about not being able to play ODST, he told me to get the forks he left in the car for our take out food, and I remember opening the car door and seeing Halo ODST on top of the forks, I remember being so excited I started screaming and going crazy outside at night, I left the forks and ran back inside and gave my dad the biggest hug because idk how he was able to get a copy, all I knew was that he was able to get me one. I remember loading up and dropping into New Mombasa for the first time to start a new journey in the halo universe. To all my friends I used to play with I love and miss you guys wherever you are. Then Bungie has succeeded. ODST was meant to remove the power that being Chief gave you. You become a common soldier, alone in an unfriendly and occupied environment. When you play as The Rookie, you have no backup, no AI to give you your next objective, just a map and a gun. It really is a masterpiece of a game.
@@mriandecker6533 completely agree with you. ODST gave the player the opportunity to play as a common grunt in the war. No super powers, no charging head on into enemy hordes. Instead stealth, takedowns and ambushes had to utilized. I never finished ODST until I was a teen because of how hard I felt it was in comparison to halo 3 but now I'm older it makes sense why I found it difficult. I would go as far to say ODST is one of the best games of the franchise especially for the human factor of the war. Constantly alone with limited ammunition, no allies and if any did come to your aid they would quickly perish. Amazing game. Amazing devs. Amazing memories.
Thats the harsh reality of it. You can try to keep everyone together but sooner or later the very people we laugh with, cry with, game with will become a memory. Some get lucky and run into each other again.
My little brother passed away in July that year, it was a very tough time for the family and still miss him dearly. When this game dropped it kept me occupied and helped me through the process. I still play this from time to time

I’ve lost so many friends far too young, some in combat and quite a few to suicide.. I’ve thought about it myself so many times.. but to any and all out there like me, there will always be hope. The storm will clear, love and understanding will find its way to you. You deserve it. The pain will lessen and we will find relief. Don’t quit. Adulting is impossible and I've been feeling like I amount to nothing. I haven't been able to sleep and I came back to this song today to help. I’m just a 18 year old kid with no direction in life, no motivation, and I can’t for the life of me find a way to care about anything. I don’t see a way into a normal adult life, perhaps in the next one things will be different
@Patcherr77 try dark souls 1. Not as a play hard games kind of thing. But. Just see a world where that is the normal. Everyone there that looses hope, goes hollow. It's more than just an enemy type. It's a person that has lost hope. That has lost purpose. And it consumes them. There isn't a way to bring them back after a loss of purpose. Except. You start hollow. You're undead. And all it takes to make you wake up. Is something to give you purpose again. The smith's keep to their craft to stay who they are. Some hold on to humanity to stay themselves. When you are hollow, you can be alone. But when you are human, the whole world comes alive with multiple players all trying to achieve the same goals

For years I listened to this to fall asleep, and one day met a girl that I showed this to. It then became us falling asleep to it, she absolutely loved this and at one point would even request it if I forgot. We are no longer together and its been so long since I have listened. It feels comforting though, reminiscent for sure.

Same. It’s really something to me how after all these years Halo 2, 3, ODST, and Reach are all my favorite memories from playing games as a child. I have tried a ton to get involved like I used to be and keep up with gaming but it’s never really been the same. Everyone that worked at Bungie really made my mid to late teens so much fun, and like this game, are markers for points in my life and memories. Much love to all

In my opinion, Reach and ODST are the two best Halo games. Because you the player are fighting a losing battle, always taking one step forward, two steps back. I know Halo is built on saving humanity, and epic space battles. But the depressing tone of these two games somehow makes them my favourite.

Mango Strangler same. I’m not a huge fan of chiefs storys I like the side characters that don’t get much recognition like noble 6 should of for delivering Cortana. And how rookie managed to fight threw a city under brute control with no power suit and no shields. Being punched was a death sentence but chief would get hit and take a quarter of health and do other things but lower levels still managed to do important rolls in halo
- MightySpriteKnight - still get chills when that “we are losing” line comes up in the intro, pure goosebumps and sets the tone for the rest of the game, humanity is dying and there’s nothing you can do. So powerful.
I always come back to this because my older brother and I used to play this game when we grew up. It was the only time we didn't fight. We'd hide when our mom and dad did and just turn the really old tv on and play this game. The music always calmed us, and we became a real team. We would just explore the map and get lost along the way. We don't talk much now and I really miss those times. I listen to it sometimes at night now, and it's cool seeing a lot of people also come back to the music close to our childhoods.
Hey brother it is crazy to read your comment. I used to play this game with my older brother too, and we used to be really close, but we distanced from each other and we barely text, much less talk. We bought the console and game after my mom passed to breast cancer. It has been up to this point the shittiest time of my life and every time I hear this I reminisce thise times. I love my brother but we grew apart so much that we, we just dont know each other anymore. Anyway, for one reason or another we all come back to this for the same reason: Try to re-live those good old days.
I play this game with my 6 year old daughter. I fear this happening too. In a few more years she won't want to hang out with me. It'll be friends and boys and make up.

ODST was made to show what a real marine/human would feel,see and hear. Their emotions being caught in 4K when they keep getting flashbacks , the way they made ambient music while taking a stroll in a ruined city. The way they were able to tell a side story about a little girl before the jump slip happened. It was all made to be feel closely related to us , and that’s why it will always remain my number one game.
I saw a few people posting their ODST stories so here’s mine: I was born in the north and moved to London at a young age when my parents divorced, it was hard and I was too socially awkward to make any friends so I found sanctuary in games. I loved the solidarity of Fallout and Minecraft because it was familiar. and then ODST came along and it taught me that life is lonely but it doesn’t always have to be, I just had to find my squad. So I came out of my shell and met my best friend playing Firefight and then I bought Destiny on release because I’m a Bungie fan and on the very first week I met a girl in a strike, she’s my fiancé now. People say a lot of bad things about Bungie but I’m grateful for everything they’ve given me, a friend, a fiancé and my fellow ODST’s like you. I may not know you personally, but you’ll always be family to me. Edit: if anyone is interested in more of the story, we met on the first week of Destiny 1 but we didn’t get together until the Crimson Valor Valentine’s Day event so Valentine’s Day is our anniversary day. She is from Florida and I’m from England so it’s been a long and patience testing relationship but I couldn’t be more glad that I never gave up, we’re proof that long distance can work but it requires lots of patience and honesty between each other. I couldn’t be more happy and next year we’re getting married! I’ll be sure to upload a video of the wedding on my channel for everyone interested Edit 2: thank you everybody for your support and kind words! I turn 18 years old in a few hours. Around 2 years ago, I used to listen to this a lot to help me through my first breakup and the stress of school work. I've listened to this whole video at least 2 times. I'm glad ODST was one of the games my best friends and I used to play. Those were great, simple times. For a good part of my childhood, I never knew what I would do in life; but through listening to music like this and metal as well as being in an orchestra in school, I know I'm gonna be a musician and create and play music that helps people the way music helps me. Thank you Halo for helping so many people.
@@Jactional right, the soundtrack and atmosphere of the game alone, is what makes me love it so much, it isn’t better than the other halo games because it’s lacking in multiplayer and the campaign is a bit short, but it honestly is one of if not my favorite halo game.
My best bud and I played all the halo games religiously together. ODST wasn't the last but it was most definitely the one we played the most. I was 6 days older than him, we grew up playing hockey together, halo of course, getting into trouble. He passed away on July 17th, 2017 in a car accident. Reading "Last Online 4 years ago" hurts me more than anything, because I know he won't be getting back on. I've listened to this plenty of times, I guess I never thought about sharing why until today. Rest in peace Gavin, I'll let you know how Infinite is when we meet again.

This alone is why ODST was easily my favorite Halo game, you were no war machine, you were a guy, alone, trying to find his way back to his group to survive.
Honestly, and I know this is weird but I feel like ODST is the embodiment of how we all feel, in this modern war zone of hate and prejudiced, it almost feels like your fighting through a horde of aliens just to find your place in this world

I remember playing this with my son when it first came out - dad and son playing together. He was 7 years old. Now he is 19 and moved out - I miss him and I miss the times we played together. Goes by so fast…
I played halo with my dad and I loved it. It feels like an eternity ago when I first played Slayer with him in Reach. Those were simple peaceful times. I wish you and your son well, fellow Spartan.
god this one hit me so hard, I had to move far from home and I miss everyone, I miss my dad the most, I don’t call as much as I’d like but I’m going to make more of a effort to do it, because I miss all the time I spent with my dad so much, even though in the moment sometimes he was just my dad and I had to stuff with him, it sucked, but I didn’t realize I was helping him get done stuff he had to do, I was able to just do nothing and he had stuff to do, he’d work all day and come home and have a endless list of stuff to do, always, till 10 then he’d be in bed, and that’s when I’d get on halo till I fell asleep, but I would always show him halo and talk with him about all the technology, and tell him I’m going to be a Spartan or a ODST someday or whatever I can do as close to it, I never understood why older people always talk about the good old times and wanting to go back, I’m 26 now and I’ve never understood it more
I'm 13 and I'm like a late og of because when I was about 5 or 6 years old I got this game from Christmas on my XBOX 360 and I played it no stop I was actually pretty good at the time. Now its been about 7 years it's so sad about the memories I had for this game I feel old respect for BUNGIE
Growing up in the Northwest US it frequently rained. as a kid it was something I hated because it meant I had to be inside. As I grew older I started to love it, the calming, rhythmic patterns in it, the way everything seemed to calm down during a storm, how everything seemed fresh after. Not sure how many other Helljumpers are out there, but stay safe.

I remember. I would sleep in the basement of my grandmothers town house. It was always hot and a fly would be buzzing around in nothing but pitch black and silence. I would eventually drift to sleep. My grandmother would wake me up. Would make me breakfast. Eggs, bacon and sausage. Then my father would pick me up from his 12 hour shift job as a technical nurse. He would always have a tire look on his face, but he still had enough energy to pick me up. By now it would be 7:00. My dad and I arrived at the house. My dad then got an Xbox 360 brand new. It came with Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 3 ODST. We got it hooked up to the tv and I loaded up ODST. I would be playing early in the morning while my dad is sleeping upstairs. I was playing in the living room. Whenever it was the nighttime part of ODST, i would always just sit there and listen to the music. My dad would sometimes play with me until he would fall asleep. This is the one thing I remember clearly from my childhood and god damn did I love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I'm almost 25 now, but listening to this and the Reach OST, it just brings me to tears. It reminds me of such easier times, where I wasn't alone, where I enjoyed going to school and playing with my friends. I wish I could go back

I’m a 23yr guy laying in bed with tears just rolling down my cheeks. My memories started with playing Halo 3 with my brother and a friend of his, going through the campaign on Legendary. Later I continued into Reach with a group of friends. The moments we had driving in Warthogs and Scorpions messing around was the greatest. The laughter and joy we shared is unrivaled by any other game we’ve played to this day. They were surprised that I was highest ranked player in the group as they were all mostly Warrant Officers or Lieutenants while I was Commander. I’ll never forget those moments we shared even though I haven’t kept in touch with them recently. Don’t let anyone tell you “It’s only a game” The gaming community is far more than just people sitting down and playing a game. It’s how everyone from around the world could sit down, chat with new people and make memories. Even start friendships with someone that can either be down the block or 10,000 miles away. Bonds gamers share with others is hard to break and the memories will last a life time. Halo has proven that gamers can come together and enjoy something beautiful with others. This comment section has proven it no matter the age of the franchise. I’m glad to be in the Halo community. To anyone reading this, we have either been allies or enemies in multiplayer, but I’d like to thank you all for the memories made from these games. Your a legend my brother! I’m only 20 years old. I started playing when I was 6. I enjoyed every moment of it with my older brother growing up. Now he is 29. Just remember that time does fly by and know that the memories we make from this is unforgettable. It’s been an honor playing with each and every single person I came in contact with in the halo community. Even you my brother! Even though things do come to an end, just know it’s been one hell of a ride. Even though I doubt anyone is still on Xbox 360. It’s been a beautiful treasure to have throughout this decade. This may be random but...I can't help but personally feel there is a lot of us that can look at that picture and think...we're that ODST trooper standing there and looking up into the raining sky thinking.. "Dam...Where did the time go?" And that's the moment you think of your halo parties in the same room, yelling at each other for screen looking, trying firefight for the first time, or even beating your first Legendary Story with friends or Alone. The good old days. Dam. Where did the time go?
I remember my first legendary completion was with my dad. Halo 3, about a year after it came out. I was young at the time, maybe 7 or 8. I don't remember all that well. Anyway. I struggled really hard, but he played the game like most of us would if it were on Easy. He showed me a bunch of neat tricks along the way, and despite it being hard for me, we had a great time. I'd always get stuck in the level Cortana, and he'd have to backtrack to find me, lol. When we completed the game, he brought us out for ice cream, I think it was. And he said something that stuck with me ever since. "Do what makes you happy, and don't let anything get in the way of that happiness." 1 year ago, today. He passed away, due to fighting cancer. And this song brought all of it flooding back... so I'm gonna go run Halo 3 on legendary, just to see what happens.
That is not random. There's a reason why bungies halo games the main protagonist had so few lines. It's so we felt as if we were the master chief or rookie. They were kept devoid of personality and dialogue to immerse us more instead of us feeling like we are just controling another personality. But we were that personality.
It's somehow poetic to think that probably the person reading this comment was once playing with me or against me in some Team Slayer or Lone Wolf Ranked Match. Im proud and thankfull that we got to experience the golden era of online-gaming 18-20 years ago. Despite these servers are no longer running and we can't play anymore; we can always remember all those great memories with our friends that at least for me I will never forget. My ODST story: I had been playing Halo 3 for a while and was starting to get bored of being a crazy strong war machine in the campaign, and the multi-player had driven me insane. So when ODST came along, it was such a breath of fresh air. Exploring the streets of New Mombasa at night, alone, piecing together a mystery with the saxophone in the OST as my only companion. There were nights where I just sat alone in my room and stood there in New Mombasa, listening to the rain and music for hours on end. One day, I would love to return to those rain soaked streets in VR and really take in the atmosphere of it all. We are ODST. Stay strong and vigilant out there friends, things will get better soon.

My first 360 broke. Red-ringed, right before the release of ODST. The guys I played with said they'd wait for me, and we'd all drop together. I told them not to, I wouldn't have enough money for a while, and I didn't want them to miss out.
Two days later I find out they chipped in to pay towards a new 360.
Some days it's hard to get up in the morning. Then I remember my friends pulling me forward.
We all drop sometime, lads. You meet the right team though, and they'll make sure you get back up.

Hey man I am hoping you can use this hard time in your life as motivation to setup a strong foundation. This is very emotional music that makes you look back on things. I know for me to get out of a dark place I would focus 100% of my attention on something, it is important to have it be a positive thing. I think I started with reading motivational stories of people who were successful and who got out of a rough situation. This made me more calm at night when it was easy to think of past issues, but reading can help focus your attention. I later decided I liked computers and fouced on learning more about them for a job. I am hoping that you can get back on your feet and get stabilized again, and then focus on making something the best it can be.

2021 - I fullscreened this video everyday for 6 months while I was in college doing my coding assignments. My life was wake up, code, sleep, wake up etc. Every hour in this video id take a break and get back to it but id listen to the whole 8 hours for that day. Life was full of bad problems but I loved how this track just calmed it down and helped me get by. I was positive nothing would ever get better.
2024 - 3 years on, I'm still alive. Typing on the same keyboard & desk like back then when I was typing all day to code. This track reminded me of what life was like then and where I am now. Things got better, I became wiser, got stronger only because I didn't give up. I won't ever give up. Just like the ODSTs didnt. Just like Masterchief didn't. Go all the way guys, all the way. Give it everything, more than what you think is everything. We are all strong and your strength is there. Speak to it, know yourself and soon you'll know what getting to the other side feels like.

Recovering addict here, this soundtrack is one of the only things that brings me peace and lets me forget about using for a while. It reminds me of playing Halo with my dad as a little kid, and knowing that he was so happy to be playing a game with his son as a recovering addict himself gives me hope. Thank you, Halo.

29 in a couple of days and still run halo almost weekly with the homies across the pond. Maybe not so much with the irl homies but damn have I made some super long impactful friendships over halo that still persist to this day.

8 years ago a friend of mine went offline, yesterday he came back and the first thing he did was invite me to a halo game he promised to play the day after he went offline, glad he remembered.

I remember when ODST dropped and I was bummed because all my local stores were sold out, my dad came home with dinner and noticed how sad I was about not being able to play ODST, he told me to get the forks he left in the car for our take out food, and I remember opening the car door and seeing Halo ODST on top of the forks, I remember being so excited I started screaming and going crazy outside at night, I left the forks and ran back inside and gave my dad the biggest hug because idk how he was able to get a copy, all I knew was that he was able to get me one. I remember loading up and dropping into New Mombasa for the first time to start a new journey in the halo universe.
To all my friends I used to play with I love and miss you guys wherever you are. Thank you for the memories and the good times

When i was younger, i was so terrified of the Rookie missions. Alone in the dark city, with this amazing soundtrack.
Then Bungie has succeeded. ODST was meant to remove the power that being Chief gave you. You become a common soldier, alone in an unfriendly and occupied environment. When you play as The Rookie, you have no backup, no AI to give you your next objective, just a map and a gun. It really is a masterpiece of a game.

@@mriandecker6533 completely agree with you. ODST gave the player the opportunity to play as a common grunt in the war. No super powers, no charging head on into enemy hordes. Instead stealth, takedowns and ambushes had to utilized.
I never finished ODST until I was a teen because of how hard I felt it was in comparison to halo 3 but now I'm older it makes sense why I found it difficult.
I would go as far to say ODST is one of the best games of the franchise especially for the human factor of the war. Constantly alone with limited ammunition, no allies and if any did come to your aid they would quickly perish.

I’ve lost so many friends far too young, some in combat and quite a few to suicide.. I’ve thought about it myself so many times.. but to any and all out there like me, there will always be hope. The storm will clear, love and understanding will find its way to you. You deserve it. The pain will lessen and we will find relief.

For years I listened to this to fall asleep, and one day met a girl that I showed this to. It then became us falling asleep to it, she absolutely loved this and at one point would even request it if I forgot. We are no longer together and its been so long since I have listened. It feels comforting though, reminiscent for sure.

It’s really something to me how after all these years Halo 2, 3, ODST, and Reach are all my favorite memories from playing games as a child.
I have tried a ton to get involved like I used to be and keep up with gaming but it’s never really been the same.
Everyone that worked at Bungie really made my mid to late teens so much fun, and like this game, are markers for points in my life and memories.

In my opinion, Reach and ODST are the two best Halo games. Because you the player are fighting a losing battle, always taking one step forward, two steps back. I know Halo is built on saving humanity, and epic space battles. But the depressing tone of these two games somehow makes them my favourite.
My thoughts exactly. You weren’t a near invincible super soldier, geared to the teeth. You were just a soldier in a losing war, with nothing but utter silence and death at every corner.

Mango Strangler same. I’m not a huge fan of chiefs storys I like the side characters that don’t get much recognition like noble 6 should of for delivering Cortana. And how rookie managed to fight threw a city under brute control with no power suit and no shields. Being punched was a death sentence but chief would get hit and take a quarter of health and do other things but lower levels still managed to do important rolls in halo

I always come back to this because my older brother and I used to play this game when we grew up. It was the only time we didn't fight. We'd hide when our mom and dad did and just turn the really old tv on and play this game. The music always calmed us, and we became a real team. We would just explore the map and get lost along the way. We don't talk much now and I really miss those times. I listen to it sometimes at night now, and it's cool seeing a lot of people also come back to the music close to our childhoods.

Hey brother it is crazy to read your comment. I used to play this game with my older brother too, and we used to be really close, but we distanced from each other and we barely text, much less talk. We bought the console and game after my mom passed to breast cancer. It has been up to this point the shittiest time of my life and every time I hear this I reminisce thise times. I love my brother but we grew apart so much that we, we just dont know each other anymore. Anyway, for one reason or another we all come back to this for the same reason: Try to re-live those good old days.
I play this game with my 6 year old daughter. I fear this happening too.
In a few more years she won't want to hang out with me. It'll be friends and boys and make up.

Before the dark times when we could laugh at ourselves and each other just a little bit
ODST was made to show what a real marine/human would feel,see and hear. Their emotions being caught in 4K when they keep getting flashbacks , the way they made ambient music while taking a stroll in a ruined city. The way they were able to tell a side story about a little girl before the jump slip happened. It was all made to be feel closely related to us , and that’s why it will always remain my number one game.
I miss those days so much. Sex doesn't even make it better just slightly distracts you from the depression that is life especially right now

I saw a few people posting their ODST stories so here’s mine:
I was born in the north and moved to London at a young age when my parents divorced, it was hard and I was too socially awkward to make any friends so I found sanctuary in games. I loved the solidarity of Fallout and Minecraft because it was familiar. and then ODST came along and it taught me that life is lonely but it doesn’t always have to be, I just had to find my squad. So I came out of my shell and met my best friend playing Firefight and then I bought Destiny on release because I’m a Bungie fan and on the very first week I met a girl in a strike, she’s my fiancé now.
People say a lot of bad things about Bungie but I’m grateful for everything they’ve given me, a friend, a fiancé and my fellow ODST’s like you.
I may not know you personally, but you’ll always be family to me.
Edit: if anyone is interested in more of the story, we met on the first week of Destiny 1 but we didn’t get together until the Crimson Valor Valentine’s Day event so Valentine’s Day is our anniversary day.
She is from Florida and I’m from England so it’s been a long and patience testing relationship but I couldn’t be more glad that I never gave up, we’re proof that long distance can work but it requires lots of patience and honesty between each other.
I couldn’t be more happy and next year we’re getting married! I’ll be sure to upload a video of the wedding on my channel for everyone interested

In January I found out from a friend that my fiancé had slept with three other men behind my back and I tried to repair the relationship but I just couldn’t sleep at night knowing what she did so I made the heart crushing choice to break up with her in late March. She messages me from time to time claiming she still loves me etc but I just can’t forgive her.
Anyway I’m not doing as good as I was 11 months ago when I originally wrote this post but I’m surviving and thankful for all your kind words.

I turn 18 years old in a few hours. Around 2 years ago, I used to listen to this a lot to help me through my first breakup and the stress of school work. I've listened to this whole video at least 2 times. I'm glad ODST was one of the games my best friends and I used to play. Those were great, simple times. For a good part of my childhood, I never knew what I would do in life; but through listening to music like this and metal as well as being in an orchestra in school, I know I'm gonna be a musician and create and play music that helps people the way music helps me. Thank you Halo for helping so many people.

My best bud and I played all the halo games religiously together. ODST wasn't the last but it was most definitely the one we played the most. I was 6 days older than him, we grew up playing hockey together, halo of course, getting into trouble. He passed away on July 17th, 2017 in a car accident. Reading "Last Online 4 years ago" hurts me more than anything, because I know he won't be getting back on. I've listened to this plenty of times, I guess I never thought about sharing why until today. Rest in peace Gavin, I'll let you know how Infinite is when we meet again.

god this one hit me so hard, I had to move far from home and I miss everyone, I miss my dad the most, I don’t call as much as I’d like but I’m going to make more of a effort to do it, because I miss all the time I spent with my dad so much, even though in the moment sometimes he was just my dad and I had to stuff with him, it sucked, but I didn’t realize I was helping him get done stuff he had to do,
I was able to just do nothing and he had stuff to do, he’d work all day and come home and have a endless list of stuff to do, always, till 10 then he’d be in bed, and that’s when I’d get on halo till I fell asleep, but I would always show him halo and talk with him about all the technology, and tell him I’m going to be a Spartan or a ODST someday or whatever I can do as close to it, I never understood why older people always talk about the good old times and wanting to go back, I’m 26 now and I’ve never understood it more

Growing up in the Northwest US it frequently rained. as a kid it was something I hated because it meant I had to be inside. As I grew older I started to love it, the calming, rhythmic patterns in it, the way everything seemed to calm down during a storm, how everything seemed fresh after. Not sure how many other Helljumpers are out there, but stay safe.

My favorite installment in the series by far. Something about being a normal ODST in a nearly hopeless situation but still pushing forward just gets me.
Reach is my favorite and ODST is 2nd.
I remember. I would sleep in the basement of my grandmothers town house. It was always hot and a fly would be buzzing around in nothing but pitch black and silence. I would eventually drift to sleep. My grandmother would wake me up. Would make me breakfast. Eggs, bacon and sausage. Then my father would pick me up from his 12 hour shift job as a technical nurse. He would always have a tire look on his face, but he still had enough energy to pick me up. By now it would be 7:00. My dad and I arrived at the house. My dad then got an Xbox 360 brand new. It came with Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 3 ODST. We got it hooked up to the tv and I loaded up ODST. I would be playing early in the morning while my dad is sleeping upstairs. I was playing in the living room. Whenever it was the nighttime part of ODST, i would always just sit there and listen to the music. My dad would sometimes play with me until he would fall asleep. This is the one thing I remember clearly from my childhood and god damn did I love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I'm almost 25 now, but listening to this and the Reach OST, it just brings me to tears. It reminds me of such easier times, where I wasn't alone, where I enjoyed going to school and playing with my friends. I wish I could go back

I’m a 23yr guy laying in bed with tears just rolling down my cheeks. My memories started with playing Halo 3 with my brother and a friend of his, going through the campaign on Legendary.
Later I continued into Reach with a group of friends. The moments we had driving in Warthogs and Scorpions messing around was the greatest. The laughter and joy we shared is unrivaled by any other game we’ve played to this day. They were surprised that I was highest ranked player in the group as they were all mostly Warrant Officers or Lieutenants while I was Commander.
I’ll never forget those moments we shared even though I haven’t kept in touch with them recently.
Don’t let anyone tell you “It’s only a game” The gaming community is far more than just people sitting down and playing a game. It’s how everyone from around the world could sit down, chat with new people and make memories. Even start friendships with someone that can either be down the block or 10,000 miles away. Bonds gamers share with others is hard to break and the memories will last a life time.
Halo has proven that gamers can come together and enjoy something beautiful with others. This comment section has proven it no matter the age of the franchise.
I’m glad to be in the Halo community.
To anyone reading this, we have either been allies or enemies in multiplayer, but I’d like to thank you all for the memories made from these games. Wherever you are, whatever you do, never forget those days. Stay strong Spartans.

Your a legend my brother! I’m only 20 years old. I started playing when I was 6. I enjoyed every moment of it with my older brother growing up. Now he is 29. Just remember that time does fly by and know that the memories we make from this is unforgettable. It’s been an honor playing with each and every single person I came in contact with in the halo community. Even you my brother! Even though things do come to an end, just know it’s been one hell of a ride. Even though I doubt anyone is still on Xbox 360. It’s been a beautiful treasure to have throughout this decade. All of us are family no matter what. This a moment we can tell our children how we had it growing up.

This may be random but...I can't help but personally feel there is a lot of us that can look at that picture and think...we're that ODST trooper standing there and looking up into the raining sky thinking.. "Dam...Where did the time go?" And that's the moment you think of your halo parties in the same room, yelling at each other for screen looking, trying firefight for the first time, or even beating your first Legendary Story with friends or Alone. The good old days. Dam. Where did the time go?
I remember my first legendary completion was with my dad. Halo 3, about a year after it came out. I was young at the time, maybe 7 or 8. I don't remember all that well. Anyway. I struggled really hard, but he played the game like most of us would if it were on Easy. He showed me a bunch of neat tricks along the way, and despite it being hard for me, we had a great time. I'd always get stuck in the level Cortana, and he'd have to backtrack to find me, lol. When we completed the game, he brought us out for ice cream, I think it was. And he said something that stuck with me ever since. "Do what makes you happy, and don't let anything get in the way of that happiness."
1 year ago, today. He passed away, due to fighting cancer. And this song brought all of it flooding back... so I'm gonna go run Halo 3 on legendary, just to see what happens.
That is not random. There's a reason why bungies halo games the main protagonist had so few lines. It's so we felt as if we were the master chief or rookie. They were kept devoid of personality and dialogue to immerse us more instead of us feeling like we are just controling another personality. But we were that personality.

It's somehow poetic to think that probably the person reading this comment was once playing with me or against me in some Team Slayer or Lone Wolf Ranked Match. Im proud and thankfull that we got to experience the golden era of online-gaming 18-20 years ago. Despite these servers are no longer running and we can't play anymore; we can always remember all those great memories with our friends that at least for me I will never forget. My ODST story:
I had been playing Halo 3 for a while and was starting to get bored of being a crazy strong war machine in the campaign, and the multi-player had driven me insane. So when ODST came along, it was such a breath of fresh air. Exploring the streets of New Mombasa at night, alone, piecing together a mystery with the saxophone in the OST as my only companion.
There were nights where I just sat alone in my room and stood there in New Mombasa, listening to the rain and music for hours on end. One day, I would love to return to those rain soaked streets in VR and really take in the atmosphere of it all.
We are ODST. Stay strong and vigilant out there friends, things will get better soon.
I want to play it in VR too.It would be awesome.
I really hope they do make a VR version so I can play with ppl like you and the rest of the ODST family
