Thanks again Steve. I hadn't thought to listen to this in stereo. I was only experimenting with the camcorder to see what kind of sound and low light performance I might get. Naturally this performance came out better than later ones when I was really trying. The stereo mic works pretty good when pointed directly at the source!
Kerry, this is just incredible drumming. I have been playing for 42 years myself, and this is unbelievable. You are a man of many talents, and you are so very good at everyone of them. I had to laugh when you ended, and looked up, because I'd swear that that is Keith Emerson seated behind the drums. Not only do you play keyboards like Keith you look like him, also!
Good call. The first intelligible (barely) thing I play is the first break from Noonward Race. The thing I play eight times is a Carl Palmer lick. The rest is controlled chaos.
Got piano lessons from a couple good teachers thru high school..and a few valuable lessons from a professor at Cal State Fullerton. Got a few drum lessons from very qualified buddies of mine...same with guitar. I'm a self taught composer, but my forte is recreating my favorite music, which is a skill in itself. I still have my Minimoog, which I bought in '73, and my Rhodes Chroma which I bought in "82. You hear my Yamaha EX5. Take lessons from a pro who does what you want to do!
Yeah, the lick I play 8 times in a row is actually a Carl Palmer lick. I was just goofing off while I tried my camcorder for the first time. It did pretty well for sound and low light. I need to work up a better solo and make a better recording, but I've got to do "Hoedown" first.
Now I'm confused. Is this Keith or Carl?! If you start singing like Greg, I'm gonna look around for Rod Serling because I MUST be in the Twilight Zone! Great job! 5 stars.
Thanks mr Kerry, now not only do I wish I could play one instrument and be great at it, you control the singing, drum, keyboards, bass and what else. On a more informative way, did you get any classic training, or studied with some people or you are self trained? Second, i'm surprised you don't have a vintage synth on your board, maybe in the background somewhere.... I'm starting to learn the keyboard, what advice would you give me? I hate reading music on sheets. Thanks
@kshacklett I WISH I could play drums as proficent as you are in this video. I have a few vid's up of me playing drums, but I'm not nearly as good as you, man. Billy is one of my favorites, along with Bill Bruford.
Okay, now I'm annoyed. You already play amazing keyboards... why do you have to have to intrude on my instrument and do so well? Multi-talented people make us ordinary apes look bad.
This sounds so cool in stereo!!!!!

Sounds a bit like 'The Noonward Race" off of the Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Inner Mounting Flame". Great Billy Cobham impersonation! Kudos!

If it'll make you feel any better, I'm sure none of us looks better than another in the eyes of Jane Goodall.
And this guy's primary instrument is keyboards. Jesus!!!

Man, your shoulders must be burning after that!
Wow, Kerry thinks he's Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer at same time !
