Kerry Shacklett
Добавлен 10 апр 2008
Please visit Presto Ballet at www.prestoballet.com/index.asp and support the band!
For anyone who might be interested I am teaching one on one via Skype. I was a little skeptical about it before trying it but I find that it's "almost as good as being there". I'm sticking with what I do best: Playing and programming keyboards. At the moment I charge $40 per hour but I will teach most any length lesson. For details email me: kshacklett@hotmail.com
I'm also available for any serious touring gig from Yes to Dwight Yokam.
My ELP and Jethro Tull videos are examples of what happens when I set out to recreate my favorite band music, but I've covered everything from Louie Prima to Metallica with similar attention to detail. So I'm ready to jump in and sound "authentic", or add some creative input, if needed.
I want to eventually post all my original material. Some is ELP inspired, but I also have some simple guitar based songs. It's often hard to decide when a piece is finished since they tend to evolve over the years, but I'll bite the bullet and get some out there ASAP.

Kerry Shacklett: Piano medley of traditional Xmas songs
Просмотров 9969 лет назад
This is my arrangement from '09.. I was changing it right up to the time of this recording, so I was still learning how to play it.. I never made a decent recording of it but it still captures what I was feeling at the time. I hope it makes someone feel good.
Ode to Soo, a ballade by Kerry Shacklett

Well..part of a ballade..the second half. I finally got back in video mode but I'm really busy with other stuff, including a new Presto Ballet album. I feel guilty about putting off posting my original piano music so I decided to put up a "preview" of one of my latest pieces. It's a product of a difficult time in my life, so it's kinda dark and moody... but that's what art is about, right? I'll...

What a hassle...among other things I had to record segments because of the free time in the middle... Was it worth it? You betcha! Keith really outdid himself with this number. Sorry for leaving out Carl's cool percussion and the bass guitar from the slow part...I knew that I would be opening another can of worms if I tried to capture those sounds and I had to draw the line somewhere...I've GOT...
ELP timeout: Prelude by Kerry Shacklett

Had to take a little break from ELP to write a sketch for a friend. This is to remind her of a simpler time, when an ounce of gold cost $20, and a criminal cartel such as the "Federal Reserve" was just a gleam in some bankster's eye. Karen, this is for you.

No room sound this time, just instruments recorded direct to Logic and synced to the video using Windows Movie Maker. Keith would probably cringe if he heard me playing the exact synth solo from Welcome Back My Friends, but I got a couple requests for it so what the hell. If I ever play it live with a band I promise to improvise that section. In memory of Aaron Copeland.

Perhaps the most psychotic thing ELP ever released....one of my favorites, of course.
Jethro Tull: Thick as a Brick ~ Kerry Shacklett

One of my favorites. Wish I didn't have to play to that confounded hihat. Of course I sequenced or performed all the tracks.

First time through in weeks. Rusty but I've played it worse. Turns out I didn't even have the mics plugged in the camera but you still get the idea. When I have time I'll rehearse and do a better recording.

As usual I'm trying to sound as "authentic" as possible. All the sound is from two room mics into the camcorder with the "auto gain" pumping the volume up and down. Oh well.. I almost stopped when I played wrong chords after the organ solo but I ended up liking this take the best.
Kerry thinks he's Billy Cobham or something..

Well, he's getting there. Not bad for three years at it.

My first youtube video. I thought it would be a good idea to noodle a little so no one would think I was faking it... Guess there's no substitute for a live audience.
Ciao complimenti!!! quale synth stai usando? E’ veramente eccezionale
An Aaron Copeland classic. So brilliant!! Thanks for your magnificent musicianship, Kerry.
If you ever read this, you have to tell me how you got the same effect Keith used for the lead synth. It sounds like a mix between sample and hold and sequencing
Kerry, you are an immensely talented and gifted musician. Your ELP work with Keith Emerson is brilliant. Nice synthesizer pairing with the Hammond. Wow, that voicing is perfect with these complex arrangements. Thx for sharing. I am looking forward to listening to more of your music online.
When played the wrong chord after the organ solo, don't worry, Keith Emerson always flubbed live and he was still a great musician. The flubs only shows he was human. Specially after his post surgery, when despite his state, he still rocked on.
Master Jerry.
Extraordinario.
YEAH!
Master.
Again i have to say your timing is spot on! Not to mention nailing the parts! WOW!
AGAIN! WOW! BRAVO!
WOW! AGAIN! Your timing and accuracy is incredible! Well done!
WOW! BRAVO! your timing was incredibly accurate. Well done!
You even look like Ian!
And this guy's primary instrument is keyboards. Jesus!!!
So happy new music from Kerry!
Exceptionnel pour jouer ça avec les sons en plus !!
Absurdo.
Do you know what organ ELP did this on , number of stops an pipes? ( I may have missed this in the comments) and google was no help ;-) It should not need to be said bug great keyboard work - and as a side I guess the other instruments were some old MIDI conglomeration? Oh and can "please" comment as I recently learned that organs have extra key(s) for playing things like a G# or a C(minor) which are not possible on a conventional piano. ELP FAN - Louisville, KY
Hammond C3 My standard ELP patch is 888000330 3rd harmonic percussion soft and short. Most of the time I use scanner vibrato on C3...but not so much for Tarkus. Lower manual is probably 008876000
Well friggin' done. An amazing piece and an incredible performance. Bravo!
The entire karn evil 9 is awesome, the epitome of this fantastic trio,my heroes since youth ( now i'am 64) .from Treviso Italy, and my respect for mister Shaklett for this great rendition
Very nice Kerry. :) A bit different that JC Superstar.:)
fucking brilliant
Como dijo alguien. Gracias Kerry, mantienes vivi a Keith
Drums sound a little too fake but all still good enuf = as they say in the military: If it's not good enuf, do it again
where's the Drummer? Still appreciate it much!
Awesome job! Just found this after all these years. Can you please tell me what is the synth, you’ve really nailed the patch with the brass flare. Thanks b
There will never be another ELP!!!
The drums are solid and punchy well thought out I adore Carl’s original performance but the drum recording was always a curiosity because the kick was always missing
Thank you ❤
He's currently available in Reno for drum, keyboard and guitar instruction at very reasonable rates. Check out his drum chops. He's a monster on them too.
Yesh right?
Great !!!. Congrats for your cover.👍
Your cadenza was freaking awesome!!
Dude even looks like Emerson!
That was excellent!
🤩
Fantástico.
Bravo!
Amazing performance! How on earth did Emerson come up with this music? It’s mind boggling
Man wish I could've jammed with you as I'm a Palmer imitator = He taught me how to drum (and he didn't even know it ha!)
Wish I could've found this Emerson when I was a Palmer D'oh!
I just can't believe how accurately you play this piece. 😊
That was really incredible!
Holy shit!
Very nice! You sound just like Ian!
Musical talent is so fun to watch!
Boy - I knew every note of that song back in the 70's - and you brought it all back perfectly!
Very beautiful. If I could play like you I wouldn't have to work in a factory for a living... Keep up the good work!
I close my eyes and felt like I was listening to the live album "Welcome back my friends...". F*... awesome, way to go, man.
I have this on vinyl if you're referring to the 3 vinyl set 'welcome back my friends to the show that never ends..."
