When my brother passed, my SIL moved into a smaller house in an HOA, she said it was really nice until the old president, a much beloved retiree, was replaced with a female fool of a president. It took the HOA only two months to vote her out, that's how bad she was.

In ancient times when landlines had four numbers, my parent's first phone number had belonged to a philandering preacher who sold moonshine on the side. Some calls were "interesting." Dad got so tired of the late night calls for hook ups and booze, he started answering as if he were this guy. I imagine his customers and ladies made his life miserable because he never showed up.

HOA Story: Now if the HOA allowed Stu to paint the house that shade, then everything would have been fine. But they had to be idiots and decide against it, his mother should have stayed on the Board.

The last story about the HOA wanting the OP to sell his car, the advice would be find out where the President, Vice President and the Lady who denied the permit lives, and investigate if they themselves have more cars than drivers, even an RV or Company vehicle.

Get a lawyer and tell the HOA that they're going to be facing a lawsuit if they don't let up on the guest parking lot. There's no freaking law they can say that because every family might have at least two vehicles that are owned by the same person. That could be a parent and child or a parent that has work obligations with two different vehicles.

Parking Permit Story: OP should have told the HOA Witch, "You're denying my Parking Permit because you claim 2 people have no reason to own 3 cars and you'll Fine my 3rd car every day until and unless I sell it? OK, on your head be the Consequences...You WILL be hearing from my Layer!" and hang up...
Then call my Lawyer and Sue the Unholy Howling HELL out of her AND the HOA Board...

The worst wrong number story I have is an ogoing series of wrong numbers from a baptist church. They were the rudest people I ever dealt with. It took all of my composure to not tell them that I was GOD and they needed to learn how to use the telephone and treat people with some Christian love.

The ironic part of these rude customer stories where a customer mistakes another customer for an employee (personally I think in a lot of these stories the interaction between customers are for the most part highly embellished) is that the customers know where the merchandise is better than the store employee's do.

I've noticed a lot more events like the first one as well. I had someone ask me for the time in kind of a small food hall, my phone was dead so I just said that. He just shouts "WHAT USE YOU ARE YOU THEN?" and storms off. There were plenty of other people around...and they could have maybe told him...but we just gave each other a WTF look.

    On first story
I was recently in a hardware store hunting down bulk screws/nuts/bolts from some examples I had on me
A woman came up and was asking what kind of screws to use to mount shelved. She was saying she thought she needed galvanized ones and when she said they were for inside I told her that it was the wrong kind.
I directed her to an employee and she was continuing to complain she needed galvanized ones when we both told her they were the wrong ones. She finally bought galvanized ones
I got told a couple days later she was back with her husband and had her apologize to the employee for yelling at him

Staples story: Agreed. Polo shirts tend to be comfortable. I own several in various colors, though nowadays I tend to wear tees.
HOA rules story: Getting elected just to IGNORE and not enforce the rules was stupid. Make reasonable changes to the rules that people can live with. Otherwise you just wind up with a new dictator.
Deli fire story: Idiot must not have had any sense of smell. That kind of odor tends to linger.
HOA parking story: Don't ignore this or you will have your jeep towed. Go thru your CC&R's for parking regulations and if needed, contact your state HOA authority for help.

The story about the loose screw in the deli manager, well I definitely would have had it documented I would say wait so you're telling me that I can't fix this and you heard me tell you about this correct? And then I would have had him sign and date something to that effect. I would have been gone to the actual store manager and informed them that I believe that there is an OSHA safety violation going on in the back due to a potential electrical fire hazard,
And that I had notified the deli manager but he seemed to not take it seriously as by this paper; *show to manager with the other managers signature on it*,
    And that I DONT FEEL SAFE AROUND MALFUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT , AND I AM APPALED THAT DELI MANAGER HAS NO CARES OR CONCERNS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE STORE OR IT'S EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS, AS A FIRE COULD NOT ONLY DESTROY PROPERTY AND CONTENTS OF , THE BUILDING;
BUT ALSO POTENTIALLY INJURE, MAIM, OR EVEN KILL EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS ALIKE.
THE LAWSUITS FROM THIAT WOULD SERIOUSLY IMPACT THE COMPANY'S HOLDINGS SHARES AND PROFITS 📈.
I would also be reporting him to HR for the things listed above, and that I felt "being forced to operate and work around a dangerous MALFUNCTIONING piece of electrical equipment shows A COMPLETE LACK OF CARE & CONCERN FOR THE WELFARE AND SAFETY
    OF THE EMPLOYEES .
THEN JUST STEP BACK AND WATCH THE FUN.
BUT YOU NEED THAT PIECE OF PAPER THAT THE IDIOT SIGNED , AS THAT IS THE FIRST COFFIN ⚰️ NAIL

Maybe I'm old, but I was taught to be polite to others until it is clear they don't deserve it. So, when asking anyone - staff or not - for help, I always start with a, "Pardon me, but..." I say anyone, as I'm disabled and usually in a mobility cart or wheelchair. This means there are often things on store shelves I can't reach. Taking this attitude, I've rarely run into someone rude and/or unwilling to help and we both leave the encounter feeling happy. (I've been like this now for nearly 20 years.)

Yeah sorry, all the New Yorkers I've ever met were indeed rude and confrontational. Especially the ones from the burrows of New York City Including my ex-stepmother (think Archie Bunker attitude). What a drama queen and B she was. Whenever you didn't do what she wanted (and she was a Karen about it) she would start in with the control tactics and crocodile tears. She got pissed when it didn't work on me. My mother (Wisconsinite) wasn't even that much of a drama queen. And she was an alcoholic and narcissist. I had to go low or no contact with my mother multiple times until she finally got the idea that I wouldn't put up with her crap. People from Wisconsin aren't normally very rude, but we seldom put up with shit either. We CAN be very blunt. I'm 61 and moved to Arizona when I was 16. I still am blunt, but I've tried to chill out with the bluntness and be more tactful. I'm not tactful with Karens.

A Texan, a Russian and a New Yorker go to a business lunch together.
Once they're seated, the waiter comes up to them and says "excuse me, but I'm afraid that due to a shortage we will be unable to serve meat today".
      The Texan says "I don't understand. What's a 'shortage'?"
The Russian says "I do not understand. What is 'meat'?"
The New Yorker says "I don't understand. What's 'excuse me'?" 😆

I don't understand why ANYONE would live in a HOA. No one is going to tell me what colour I can paint my home, let alone what plants I can grow. As for putting a lien on the property for some idiotic, arbitrary "transgression". Piss off with that nonsense.

I can. I've got some Latinos living next door that have a band. From what I can tell they are actually pretty good. The problem is that on pretty much every nice weekend afternoon they are practicing, and those SOB's are LOUD. I'm thinking about getting an air raid siren with a sound sensor, so every time they get loud enough it blasts every fifteen minutes. If this was an HOA neighborhood they'd get shut down the first day.

Wrong number I had was from a hospital. The person calling said they were looking for David. I said you have the wrong number. The person got snippy and said David needs to get to the hospital quickly because his Father was in an accident and may not make it. I apologized and again said sorry wrong number. He starts yelling at me to put David on the phone. I said, the only guy that lives here is named Bob...You have the wrong number...good luck finding David, and hung up. They did not call back.
