I like the idea of having Knack and a healthy Gonsolin in the post season bullpen for long relief roles (3-4 innings). I don’t know how that compromises the rest of the bullpen though.
Baseball is a sport of consistency and confidence. Roberts and his data geeks are constantly tinkering. Moving guys up and down in the line up, or switching positions. Every time the lineup gets hot they move batting order around. Every time players get comfortable and excel on defense they switch positions around. It’s like coaches are intentionally destroying the player’s confidence and wonder why they get errors and the guys they are moving around aren’t hitting consistently. Pick a line up and stick with it. These guys need to play everyday to excel in the payoffs. Platooning right before the playoffs and resting everyone has killed the Dodger’s momentum going into the playoffs for a decade. It’s stupidity.
And yet …. He’s one the most accomplished managers in recent history-- the players love him. He makes mistakes-- guess what -EVERY manager makes mistakes but his pluses outweigh the minuses -- and pull back your myopic lenses lol -- the Front office has to HAS to figure in your rant. That said. The Dodgers are on the brink of yet another Division championship n maybe best record-- DESPITE - the near complete breakdown of his pitching staff n some position players. Oh but yes. Thats all Dave’s fault. What a crock. I do agree a bit about moving folks around too much. But the team is exhausted n our team is predicated on versatility-- so -got ya rest folks n gotta play folks.
Aside from the odd bad pitch, I remain impressed with Honeywell and ht’s right up there among our best bullpen arms. He’s got the added value of going 2 or 3 when you need him to. He had earned a regular spot now for this year and next as well provided he continues to show he deserves it. Another success story with taking a pitcher off the garbage heap and turning him into a valuable piece in the pen.
The video of the Urias attack on his wife became public today and, first, it was horrible to watch and, second, if not for the vicious left cross, I think he'd be back in MLB after serving another suspension. His left arm took him to the big show and then cost him the big show. Tragic.
Dave's acknowledged that the bullpen is depleted, so of course, he doesn't allow Knack to pitch in the 6th inning. I get not letting him see the lineup for a 3rd time in the playoffs, but right now we need to preserve the bullpen. He just couldn't wait to play with his new toys--Kelly and Logue--one of which needs to be returned because he's broken. Also, it looks like he's giving Kopech the Banda/Morrow treatment and riding him hard and putting him away wet--to use a horse analogy.
Yes, the bullpen is depleted, but Dave needs to preserve Knack's confidence and arm, because the lack of effective starters is the biggest challenge going forward.
starting pitching for 2025===Jack ===Yamamoto===Glassnow===Gonsolin===Stone===Japonese kid Sasaki--19 yrs old--20 when season starts-----possibly--Kershaw-May-Miller--Knack---Buehlor---thats alot
It looks like Jack & Yamamoto are #1 & #2--Probably Buehlor & maybe Gonsolin #3--Maybe Knack & Kershaw #4---That could work very well if Roberts does it right
Pepiot immaculate inning 12ks. He could start a post season game,,,,,, oh that's right they traded him for that starter who will not be available until....who knows. Great trade guys!!!!!
I'd absolutely trade Lux this offseason and replace him with Gauthier taking my chances. i don't care how Gauthier performs. Upgrading off of Lux is an improvement. His defense has degraded significantly. And he's too sporadic offensively. And low production. Now when he's fired up he can play . But you have to fire him up to get him to play? You can't stay fired up all the time. Nobody can do that! Now if Lux could do that the entire season he could hit 20 homers and drive in 70 or 80 runs. But he can't hit lefties. Which means lux is a sub basically with no defensive flexibility. He's one dimensional at second base defensively. As a sub . And when he gets cold he nosedives for weeks on end. When he's fired up his defense is good. But when he's not fired up his defense is horrible! I couldn't justify keeping Lux around for any reason with his productive output. He needs to play full time more and he can either do it or he can't. But i wouldn't bet on him . His power and RBI profile looks consistently low . Below average. His total output from year to year grades low on average. It looks doubtful that he would hold decent value in a potential trade. Even if he awakens later I'd still trade Lux and give guys like Gauthier a chance to produce more . Win or lose.
One more start for Buehler and I don’t want to see him on our mound again. He has not earned a spot on the playoff roster and I’d much rather see a bullpen game in lieu of a 4th starter. Game 4 is too important to leave it up to a guy whose command is so lacking.
It’s amazing that given how Knack and Buehler have pitched, people are still wondering whether Knack should be in the top 3. I felt confident about his coming back strong after a poor outing,, against a Braves team that showed no mercy with out pitchers overall and hammered Flaherty as well. It’s nice to see the team finally pull the plug on Miller who might be able to get back to MLB caliber but this year has been a disaster from start to finish. We really missed an opportunity to audition someone else and saved a few losses along the way as anyone would have been an upgrade. I’m not sorry to see Grove get sent down as well. I’ve just started watching this and see a complaint against starters not getting 6 innings. That’s always nice, we need to shoot lower though, a starter not getting hammered is a clear move ahead given our starters lately have had the highest ERA in the majors. You can only move up from last place. In the same comment, Lux sucks,, he is back to sucking that’s for sure. He hit his way out of the doghouse for a time but we’re back to seeing him absolutely stink and put his place on the playoff roster in serious jeopardy.
Yeah and let’s also remove the 2020 championship as well. Besides if it wasn’t for Julio shutting down the late inning Braves offensive onslaught against Jansen, Dodgers wouldn’t have won it all in 2020. Julio Urias is the face of the 2020 World Series championship. Wether you like it or not, you can try to remove all the images and intros if you want BUT you can’t remove Julio from 2020 WS

Delete everything above “Pick a line up…” and i would agree. Glad you posted that!
Totally agree, that’s why I want Roberts fired.

lmfao, tinkering with the lineup order is one of the oldest baseball moves in history. but sure, it’s the data geeks!!!!
Good managers are hampered by bad POBOS!!!!who interfere !!
Betts at 2nd makes a lot of sense against lefties. I think that’s what we will be seeing in the playoffs.

Will’s HR was refreshing to see but his bigger contribution this year has been his arm. It. Wasn’t there tonight.
I’m starting to get concerned. The last three times he tried to catch somebody stealing it’s gone into the outfield.
I know its crazy but the Dodgers might get Jaun Soto---that would change the offense dramatically--What are the odds

Bad night. Everyone has them
@@christopherorrante289 I meant did he get hurt because he came out of the game after hit by pitch
Former Dodgers, Kimbrel and D. Floro both got DFA’d. Reunion anyone? Hahaha!
Dodgers got Vesia and Kyle Hurt through that trade with the Marlins.
@@PubliclighthouseAlex Vesia has been so good for us this year.

Your starting 3 were 1 for 15 last night. Lux lacks confidence, and that could be contributed to the fact he only plays against righties.
