Unfortunately, this message only comes with the vid. The lyrics themselves are not as interesting. That's why I only listen to the song when watching the vid.
@@hoteru1But the song itself is pretty good, so it’s a good track to listen to during long car drives or working out or for situations, when you just want to hear a song and don’t concentrate on lyrics that much.
On a dinghy called “M.S. Rammstein” the band members row over the open sea. This is strongly reminiscent of the rubber boats used by refugees and fugitives trying to reach Europe via the Mediterranean. Thousands have died in recent years. The boy who greets the band members on the beach holds welcome signs in different languages. He first holds up the sign with "Welcome" while Till Lindemann sings "My language: international" and signals the boy to hold the sign with the German text. (So Lindemann's language is probably not "international" after all, but German.) Arriving at the beach, the band members explore the island. But Flake is forgotten on the beach. The band members wear colonial clothing and the colonial-era hat is clearly recognizable. When greeting the chief, he is taken for a ride. As the chief extends his hand and allows himself to be distracted, Paul Landers folds up his hand and forearm so that the greeting will never take place. The black and white photo and video recordings are intended to evoke the colonial era. The text is in strong contrast to the video. While Lindemann sings about internationality, understanding and language, the bottom line is that the men can let off steam in the foreign country and irresponsibly let go of their superiority. The white men behave like bullies and although the text talks about peacefully exploring the foreign country, it is not shown in the video. The chorus remains catchy: "I'm not a man for one night, I'll stay an hour or two at most." Arriving in the village of the native people, what must happen happens when it comes to serving clichés: Black women are mostly shown bare-breasted and dance excessively. -The white man is having fun with the black woman. -The white man lets himself be spoiled. -The white man dances around the fire with the residents. -The white man enjoys himself and goes hunting. -The white man works as a missionary and brings “education” into the world. Flake was left on the island because from the beginning of Rammstein til today, he has stated that he never wanted to be a member of Rammstein. Flake is therefore also often the victim of evil pranks. But the truth is everyone loves him, his band members and the fans
Wow Michael, great post!! Awesome interpretation of the video! I think Flake has the last laugh 😆. The band left him there, obviously a slight. But he is made king by the villagers. We love Flake and his quirky behavior!!!
he was hesitant at first, but then he joined Rammstein without saying anything to them, he didn't tell them if he accepts to join or not....he never gave them a definitive answer, but as we have seen, he has been a member of the band from the beginning till now
Hi Suesue and Wolfman, i realy love you and your reactions ! Sometimes its hard for me to find the right words, but i learned from you so very much, thanks ! You're both complitly right its not so easy to see what is the meaning to a song, specialy for Rammstein ! Greatings and love from germany ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Great reaction, analysis and comment! Finally I was feeling good about Suesue, no risk of sad strong feeings and a cheerful song (yet touching a quite delicate topic). Have a nice day! ♥️
the scene with the missionary teaching the children his language, while the text says "i learned early on that you have to learn other languages", he says that the people living there have to adapt to the strangers and not vice versa
I think the song is about the band or Till on concert tour around the world. They stay in each place only one two hours and then move on. To be able to communicate with the locals, they have learned a few words in French, English, Italian, Spanish and Russian. Till addresses a few words in the local languages to the audience at every concert. My interpretation refers only to the lyrics and not to the video. Rammstein's videos often add another narrative layer to the songs and the band also doesn't know what the producer's idea is for the video when writing the song.
Making a satire out of it is the only way to deal with racism. it was the motif of the refugee boat that framed the music video. Because it starts with Rammstein arriving on an island in a rubber dinghy and it ends with all the band members leaving the island on the rubber dinghy, with the exception of Flake, who is first forgotten and then held back. Which is a lot of cliché, fits damn well with the lyrics of the song and the associated meta level. Because: On a lyrical level, the song is clear. It's about globality instead of nationality. About the German cosmopolitan traveling abroad. About the German globetrotter as an enemy. About someone who wants to impress the ladies in foreign countries with pseudo-worldly gibberish. This is exactly what they wanted to emphasize by using authentic materials on both sides, as explained further in the making-of video. For example, Flake's (historical) silk suit still said "Deutsch-Südwest-Afrika", a German colony in what is now Namibia. Arriving on the island, the white colonialists give Rammstein to a tribe of black natives. And they don't leave out any clichés. germany colonies in africa The German colonial empire included parts of today's People's Republic of China, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Namibia, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, Chad, Nigeria, Togo, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, and several islands in the western Pacific and Micronesia.
Actually it is an allusion with these pictures to the colonial times how the former colonial powers acted against foreigners from their point of view even though they are the foreigners themselves . It was indeed already mentioned here that colonialism and tourism to sexism was probably the motivation for the video.
Make sure you also check out the Auslander Official Making Of video on their RUclips Channel. Most of the Rammstein video's have a Making Of and it has English subtitles. Here is the link to Auslander Offical Making of: ruclips.net/video/DOXpYc47Mb8/видео.html.
so this song came out in 2019 so 3 years after the big wave of foreigners coming into the EU. People were still debating about the false narrative of the "bad foreigners coming here not behaving correctly" and stuff. The song puts a mirror in front of the European Faces how we behaved back in the past not only Germany but most of the colonial mights. Then it is said that this is also about sex tourism as well. So indeed this song again has many layers combined. The Making of for "Ausländer" is also very good as the African ladies are talking as well as Till and the crew. Very informative.
Well played Meine Freunde, not just dicke titten, that was über titten. Great video und reaktion, saty safe. Okay you have all my pens now (again). Und ja, was a great song regardless of video.
It shows you how to colinize people and influence cultures with educating the young and imbedding your own beliefs into them (Education/religion/sex-sowing your seed) it's a good example of one culture coming in and taking over another culture which we see all around the world.👍❤️🥝🇳🇿
I'm not gonna say anything about the song...just happy to see a debate and deep thoughts about another great song! RUN yourselves over to Tommy Johansson's channel bc he just dropped a new cover that you HAVE to hear! A symphonic metal Basketcase, by Green Day...meshed with Pachelbel!! It's brilliant...jump your list!
The type of boat they are using is often used for refugees in the Mediterranean. No one seems to get that but I think that's a whole other touch to the video.
Multy layered and everyone can have different thoughts about this song/video. I can agree and disagree on what's being said here in the comment section. From being "nice" over stealing what's worthy to becoming the chief (Flake) afterwards describes the habit of colonizers. The "Wir sind gekommen um zu bleiben" still threatens the so called independent and souvereign countries, where people often are "Ausländer" in their own country.
Natürlich sind die verrückt. Sonst würden sie solche Videos nicht drehen. Das blonde Kind ist der jüngste Sohn von Schneider. Daher hat er so geweint, als Papa Tschüß sagte. War bestimmt nicht lange. 🤗
your opinion/ point of view will be different than mine, and Whoever wrote the lyrics... doesn't mean you and I are wrong... Thats why we' watch your reacton... to open our minds up.. otherwise yeah we will all be stereotyping everythingm But Then again WTF Do I know...
yes! clearly a parody of Western colonialism and tourism that continues to this day.Earlier as a young guy I traveled a lot and was often ashamed of the so-called enlightened tourists from Europe or the USA. German tourists who complained between maya ruins, wiso there are nowhere fries with schnitzel.englishmen who drunken in Africa turned on women and peed on houses, conservative Christian Americans who thought they had to convince people of Christianity in Asia or rich from all Western countries who thought they could buy everything with their money. but worst of all, the West brought everything into the world except what we always hold so strikingly in front of us. namely the Enlightenment, human rights and democracy. for raw materials and political power, we quickly throw all this overboard

The song combines colonialism and sex tourism, and in my opinion, in a quite intelligent and funny way.
Thanks Harald! Agreed!!!

That Flake didn't want to join the band is a rumor. He wrote in his book that he was desperately trying to get in. He should know best. 😊
